Looney Dan
Do you think RDR2 would have done better as a fall release or do you think the delay and actual spring release will be beneficial to sales? Someone I know who used to work for a gaming company say that they were better off having the delay and pushing it to spring simply because because aren't as strapped for cash because of the holiday season. RON
I don't think it would have made much of a different. I do think that sales would have been slightly higher in the fall just cause it can be pushed for teens to get for Christmas. Parents these days are push overs. No way of knowing for sure. Sometimes games do great after a delay because of the build up, other times it hurts the sales because of a key push in the market. Christmas time, a lot of people over spend even if they are broke.
Jamesie
I'd have preferred closer to Christmas myself but that's probably because I have to buy it for myself and I typically have more time around Christmas. With GTA V having spent so much time in the top 10 best sellers list over on Steam (although only at 13 now) I'd imagine they'll rake it in either way (well apart from not actually being on steam most likely for at least a year or so post console release). Also hard to believe that it's kept it's high price for as long as it has (apart from a special every now and then) but after a quick look I see that the physical copies are quite a bit cheaper (even for PC), maybe it's just steam taking the piss as usual. SNAK3S
They certainly could have milked us for a RDR2 exclusive Christmas console bundle that I likely would have spent money on... lol Yeah I would have rather seen it come out this year for sure. And Steam does that with a lot of games. Look at the past 5 CoD games... Black Ops II is still WAY to expensive on there lol
Looney Dan
So some of you think sales would have been better, others think worse. In my experience, Christmas for most people means spending money you don't have on people you hardly see just to fit in with a tradition no one seems to even agree on. So yeah, I think sales would have been better and I would have been happier to see a September/October release.

Yeah people seem to over spend money between September and December not just before Summer. People plan vacations and what not then.
GatoNegro
Considering they could have milked us all on holiday spending, yes it would have been better. Spring is fine but sales will be slower. They will still sell a crap load of copies, don't get me wrong, but it will be more spaced out over a few weeks to a few months where a Fall release would have been more sudden. The lack of the holiday being pushed down people's throats wont make people rush as much either. Some may put if off till summer break if they are still in school. Suck3rPunch3d
They won't need the holiday to make people want to buy it more. I don't think this will make any difference myself. I think it will end up doing just as good, maybe even better seeing as the big titles come out mostly in the Fall for PS and X1.
X S
There was a lot of competition this fall with the releases of Mario, LA Noire, Shadow of War, GT Sport, Forza, Destiny 2, COD WWII, Battlefront 2, AC: Origins, Wolfenstein 2, and now PUBG. That's one angle you have to consider, less expendable income during the holidays. Little to no competition during the Spring.
