Summer Update Question

UKRogue1

Question

A lot of you have tons more experience with Rockstar so I thought I would ask - do you think we will be able to use Gold rather than cash to launch the new roles / businesses with the summer update?  Gold is one thing I have but cash is so hard to earn ...seems I have been grinding away but I get very little in return.

Yeah.....  Better quality pelts make more money but like you I prefer quantity over quality.  I find herds of deer, etc. and then go to town.  ....shooting as many as possible.

I'll also take the better quality ones and put the whole carcasses on the back or the sides for those small game.  When the meat fills up in my inventory, I stop hunting that particular animal and go for the next.  Like when hunting deer, I don't keep collecting pelts when I can no longer harvest the meat.  I'll switch to birds until the same thing happens with them.  .....then go to the market, cash out and do it all over again.

Also, hunting spots are important.  There are some areas that you can farm by simply riding back and forth through them.  ....and if they are less frequented by other players, that's a bonus since you will have fewer interruptions.

yes Hunting and Fishing is the way to go.  just going down the Kamassa River is a $90.00 Sockeyed Salmon,Steelhead trout, small and large mouth Bass.  get one of the bigger fish lake Sturgeon, Muskie, or Northern Pike that's another $7.25 to $8.00.  plus the hides, feathers and meat.  $200 easy for an hour.  plus 3 hideouts are within the area

Now this I will have to try.  That does sound like good money for sure.  I like the fishing but I get frustrated having to run to the butcher w/ only 1 big fish so  I will try and stock up on smaller stuff first and then catch one muskie or pike before I head in.

Thats probly gonna happen in the future (another oportunity for the publisher to capitalize on those Gold store purchases) but I wouldnt say allready in this late summer update (late Aug or Sept is my guess).

Wanna get more cash? Hunt like crazy and get those headshots (but first check if its a 3 star animal) and use Varmint rifle and bow for smaller game.

I know thats how I got to where I am now 😎

Why would the new roles even cost anything?  I didn't get that impression at all.

As for the purchase of things within the activities (if required), I'll wager that these will be in cash or both. I don't see R* locking progress like that exclusively behind a pay wall.

As far as earning cash, I've never really had too much of an issue. IMO, it's never been too difficult to earn money through hunting or just playing missions, etc. to buy what I needed. .....then again, I don't waste it either on frivolous stuff.

I usually keep around $1,000 on me and try to maintain that balance so I have enough cash for things I need as they come.  .....but you do have to grind for it. On the other hand, I've been surprised how much I can earn when I just forget about it and play a bunch of missions / activities over a few sessions.

Hunt in Lemoyne near St Denis. Gators are easy kills and pay ok. Lots of exotic birds as well.

Looks like hunting and fishing are both really good options then and herb picking, which I really like to do.  I have almost 1K in cash which I thought was pretty low as I have seen players videos on You Tube where they have like 18K  - yikes - but they are ranked over 200 and I am 62 ..lol..

I am so bored with the missions now I guess I will just return to the free roam and do some work on earning a little more cash ...££££

Yeah create a routine for yourself I prefer St Denis area because I can hunt, fish and pick herbs.  As well as do the odd mission.  Usually make $100 an hour. Yeah I'm lvl 172 and have $17.5K in cash. So it can be done. One other thing watch what you buy. I wasted 5K in buying stuff I didn't need and later discarded. Namely horses and saddles. As well as camp site updates.

You can catch Sturgeon across the street from Butcher in Blackwater. You can run the fish back, fast way to make money.  When the fishing in good, I can make $300+ an hour.

I normally start with catching $90.00 around Dakota River, then head to Blackwater to see if the Sturgeon spawn. If the fish don’t, I hunt cougars. After I sell a cougar, I try to fish more Sturgeon.

The viaduct bridge is a great place for sockeye salmon (standing on the rocks) then just a little further down Kamassa River towards Lagras, you get the steelhead trout.

Have any of you ever asked yourselves why the buffalo were almost wiped out of existence?

Well, the way some of you hunt in this game is truly the answer.

I am not putting any of you down for your gameplay style just making a candid comment about the buffalo.

When one of the daily challenges involved killing condors - I did have to stop a minute - it is a game but actually I am glad that part of me that cares doesnt just turn off just because it is a game.

And the baby alligators are so damn cute.

Yes this crosses my mind whenever I kill buffalo or gators, condors, whatever. But this is a game that is all. Btw we kill people too.

Headshots and shotguns. I’d suggest playing some PVP modes for awhile, if for no other reason than to practice you combat skills. Try to focus on modes that allow you to respawn and get back into the fray. It’s really one of those things that you just need to practice it starts to click with you.

It's a lot to do with using the right gun in the right situation.

Unfortunately the carbine repeater is pretty crappy, so if you're low level you are at a real disadvantage until you unlock something better.

As soon as you unlock a shotgun, buy one. At close range you will one shot anyone with standard ammo.

The bolt action is a very effective rifle (even though I don't like it because it isn't cowboy enough for my taste), so getting that will make a big difference.

A couple of revolvers for versatile mid range complete a sensible loadout. I don't see a massive difference in performance, so as soon as you can have an offhand holster a second cattleman is fine.

Freeroam events can be a bit of a kill frenzy. Until you get more comfortable,  find somewhere in cover and take targets of opportunity. And watch the minimap.

But yes, headshots are a vital part of the game if you want to kill other players.

I cannot thank you all enough for the tips.  Literally caught 40 Lake Sturgeon in about an hour of play - fantastic !!! Thats on top of the 10 big mouth bass I caught in like 20 minutes.

Increased the hunting and making these round trips now so got a steady income.  Hope to see it rack up over this next week or so.  Thanks everyone.

If you’re talking about the Blackwater Sturgeon spot, I just tested it & still works for me. Caught 4 Sturgeons before they stop spawning.

Maybe you had some kind of glitch, if you couldn’t use your fishing rod.
