And my new favorite horse is.......

Not sure what's wrong with my Klad - I must've got a duff one because its none of the things I read here. Only thing its been good for so far is making me miss my Black Arabian. It's sh*t scared of absolutely everything. Chasing a bounty through the swamp it bucked me twice at the mere sight of an alligator and ran off even after I shot the gator dead. It was just as skittish as the red chesnut arabian crossing the little swamp bridges when there are gators in the water. Rears up like crazy everytime I get in a gunfight on it. So much so I got off it to take care of some lemoyne raiders chasing me and it charged off, throwing the bounty off its back in the process.

I'm sticking with it to see if it improves at lvl 4 but so far I'm not impressed.

Yup, ridiculously we still only have the option to discard horses, saddles etc. GTA was the same for a while but eventually R* allowed you to sell cars (even if it was at a seriously low value) so not sure why it hasn't been implemented in RDO. At the very least surely they could be donated to Cripps to be turned into glue? I binned one of the free horses R* gave PS4 players to make way for the Kladruber. I still have stable spaces to unlock but didn't have a spare $750. 😮

Bond it to level 4 and then try again, mine is amazing!! it gets a little nervous but never ever bucks me.

Also, keep in ind the Klad is the 2nd best temperament, the level 20 bounty horse bonded to level 4 has the best temperament of them all.
If that is the most important thing to you then grab that one when you can, I like the balance of height, looks, speed, health and stamina and temperament, although I will get the bounty horse and use for more dangerous things to experience the best in gun fights, gator or bear hunting and snakes and wolves.

Have it at level 4 now and it did actually fare ok on the legendary bounty. Not sure whether it was 4 when I saved a stranger from 2 cougars but it didn't like that at all. Luckily I got 1 cougar right away and only had the other to deal with after being bucked. Is there any truth in the rumour that female horses have better temperament than males?

I was intending to get the Breton when I reach level 20 but I had a bit of time before then so thought I'd try the Klad as everyone was raving about it. Only 3 levels to go now and I have the $ saved again.

Im not sure about the female being any better or not.

The klad is your second best bet for temperament as far I can tell.

The Breton will definitely be the best bet for cougars, wolves, gators, bears, snakes, or gun fights, BUT if you are like me and still have a way's to go before you can buy it, the Klad IMO is the way to go.

Ok, so the time has come to evaluate every level 20 role horse.

After buying and trying each new horse breed I have concluded my new favorite horse is.........

The level 20 Breton!!!

WoW, an amazing animal.

I was really loving the Kladruber, its only faults are top speed, and temperament in tight spots.

Although better than the Missouri Fox Trotters, or Turkoman's, the Kladruber has a few small flaws.,

While doing the legendary bounty "The Wolf man" on the 3rd level the wolves were a little too much for the Kladruber and he did buck me and leave me to die, that was a little frustrating.

So, I tried the Criollo, this horse is my least favorite of the three, yes it is fast, and quick, But it is a little small for my taste, I dont love the looks and it doesnt have that solid temperament you want for legendary bounties and gators, wolves, bears, snakes, and cougars.

The Kladruber has the size and the coats, they are just an amazing looking horse, But as I said they do struggle with temperament in a pinch.

This brings us to the Breton.

a horse I was not excited about at all.

I looked at them and thought, meh, too small, not very fancy etc..

But ok Ill try one.

WoW was I mistaken.

Instantly I knew this was the horse.

The added speed and acceleration becomes apparent immediately especially going from the Kladruber.

The Breton feels smoother, faster, quicker, and is super balanced.

It even sounds a little different, I likened it to a Kawasaki Vulcan compared to a Harley Road King, the rumble was deeper, and smoother, and a little meaner.

Now I love the posture of the Kladruber, still do, looks wise my favorite of the three new breeds, But the Breton is a close 2nd.

The real difference comes when you go to use the horses.

I binge played the Bounty hunter to get my level 20, I just crammed them in one after another til I hit 20, it was tedious, and I did them all on my level 20 Kladruber.

But then I did a few on my new Breton and the difference is solid.

The Breton is made for this work, has patience with snakes, and animals in general, doesnt love gun play but will definitely stand still for it, everything about the horse just feels better.

Keep in mind I am level 2 bonded with my Breton but level 4 with my Kladruber and still the Breton feels much better to actually ride, that surprised me to be honest.

I wish he Breton was a little taller personally I just prefer larger horses, but in all other aspects the Breton for me takes the cake.

Now in a straight race, I might bust out the Criollo, or a Fox trotter, out for the day doing collectibles and stuff, the Kladruber, very enjoyable horse, but for hunting, bounties, gun fights, etc.. it has to be the Breton, period hands down, the best most manageable horse in my opinion in the game currently.

I wouldnt bother with a mid range or low end Breton, just wait til you can get your level 20.

The only breed I kept a low level horse from was the Kladruber and simply because they put out a perfect black and a perfect white, so if you enjoy those colors on a horse, these two to me look the best, the Arabians have this too, but they are tiny horses, not suited for anything other than a race, but the Kladruber is a fierce tall horse that when you go all white or black and match your outfit you look amazing.

Otherwise the level 20 horses are the way to go in each case imo.

Thats it, I have owned and ridden all the horses now, I have to say the Breton is best over all, the Kladruber is 2nd in my book and the Criollo third, and good for races I suppose, I dont love the colors or coats of the Criollo either so it may just be my bias in that regard, but it doesnt do anything for me, I did keep one, the level 20 one, just in case.

FYI my stables are full and I actually had to discard a horse to fit my new Breton.

I know we are getting more roles in the future and perhaps more horse breeds, ya never know, but til then, I feel like I have a horse for every situation in the stable, sometimes I break them out just because I can.

Lvl 20 Criollo paint. Lvl 9 speed, lvl 6 accel. and easy to handle. Named him after the fiercest of native American tribes in the old west, "Kiowa Brave"

Sweet!!

Good horse too, BUT take him to where there are cougars, or try a pack of wolves, several gators, etc.. they just dont cut it, they will buck you off and run for the hills, lol.

Probably the fastest of the horses, but unless I am racing, I dont need that little extra, the Breton and Klad are both fairly fast, the Fox Trotters too for that matter.

But it comes down to preference I suppose.

I do prefer to stay in the saddle when surrounded by wolves or bandits.

My advice would be get what you can as you go, do try them all, at least one level 20 of each breed, then decide for yourself.

Sweet, ok, I am going to buy a Breton when I can. Only level 5 BH at the moment..

What do you guys think of the Horse you get with the Ultimate Edition? The Black Chesnut Thoroughbred is it? I can't any of them as fast as that one I got for free at launch. He's a bit skittish, yes, and not got much health, but for speed, and catching bounties, I can find no better than him.

I have been riding the Black Chestnut Thoroughbred since very early in my play of RDO (started day 1 of RDO)! He is a great horse except for being skittish. I have been debating whether or not to buy a new horse and, thanks to this thread, will most likely get a Kladruber so I don't get thrown in the mud or worse every time something appears that has fangs!

The Kladruber is a great horse, but if you are concerned with being bucked, get the Breton, it is much better in that regard.

Didn't I hear the Kladruber is good around gators, cougars, wolves & snakes?

It appears it will be a long while before I can level up Bounty Hunter to get the Breton. BH is a real grind for me. I leveled Collector & Trader pretty quickly but BH is another story.

Yes the Kladruber is ok around them, better than the Trotters or Turks, but not as good as the Breton, the Breton is the best for temperament over all

The Kladruber seems to handle well to me. I mean it looks amazing and I prefer this style over the other horses but I don't think I would ever run it as my main horse. I mainly enjoy hunting and it can cause some issues for me with this.

Ive been using my Breton for everything as I play the game by simultaneously collecting, hunting, and trading, plus running bounties between trader missions, and for me, the Breton does it all very well, I have zero complaints.

I was clearing out my camera a little and came across these, I dont have an Arabian anymore otherwise I would have included one for comparison also.

I didnt have my other Trotter in a saddle or KLadruber either, but the stats are the same so I didnt bother with them.

Criollo is fastest at 9 speed, Then Trotter also a 9 speed,  the Turk and Breton are both 8 speed, then the Klad.

the Klad has 100 health and Stamina, as well as higher acceleration, the Breton doesnt slow down while using Slow and Steady.

Lumper, you could have 3 yellow bars for speed and acceleration.  Nago saddle and high-end stirrups.  My Criollo is 10 speed.

oh, nvm.  I see one of your horses has it.
