Where is Abigail Marston? (Theory & Discussion)

 Share

Recommended Posts

Abigail Marston is a major character in Red Dead Redemption 1. We know she was heavily involved in the

Van Der Linde gang but we've yet to see any confirmed appearance in any Trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 so far.

So where is she.

These are my thoughts. Please leave yours :)

I'm pretty sure she's in the Trailer you note.  She even sounds the same, if she is, in fact, voiced by the same actress.  The only difference I see is in eye color.  The hair, brow line, nose and lips are pretty identical, though.  Plus, they've already revealed Marston on multiple occasions, so I assume this is the one "hero" shot we've been given of her.

Ahh i don't know I mean the spot on her cheek isnt there in RDR1 and the brows aren't really so similar in my opinion that's a hard call. The graphic difference is insane so not convinced yet really.

Thanks for your feedback.

Yeah this has been discussed before and the consensus is that it's not Abigail. Doesn't look anything like her.

Abigail was a prostitute so she is going to look younger and more "dolled up" with make-up so that could be her. In RDR1, she was very plain likely because she was focused on raising their boy and living a wholesome life.

True but that doesn't account for the lack of mole and different colour eyes, both being details they wouldn't have missed.

Beauty marks are drawn on by women a lot throughout history. Heck women today put fake freckles on their faces. The eye color though, that I got nothing for so I guess there is where you have to figure they are different women. I didn't even notice that. lol

Both make good points but I’m just not convinced it is her

I have to agree. Let's look at the timeline:

RDR2 - 1899:
The girl in the upper picture is obviously quite a young woman. Definitely on the lower side of her twenties, at most. Probably closer to 20 than 25.

RDR - 1911: (12 years later)
Abigail looks like she's easily approaching (or has surpassed) 40. Yes, I know people tended to visibly "age quicker" 100 years ago, but you're not going to convince many that she's in her early 30s.

In conclusion, it would be tough to accept she's Abigail. Logically, Abigail should be around (probably over) 30 in 1899 in order to support the way she looked in 1911. Which makes sense because Marston himself appears to be in his mid-40's or so in 1911.

That's my take, anywho . . .

That could be her, but the artist didn't pay enough attention in creating the young version vs the older version.  The mole and eyes could just be an error in creative details.

Ahh I don’t think they would disregard her facial features like that by accident. Rockstar don’t usually do things by accident.

Usually not, but I have seen in games where there will be a cameo appearance from a previous game and you will see differences.   Besides it may just have been a mistake in creation for this game.    Someone may have dropped the ball trying to make her prettier and didn't think the fans would notice those details.

Maybe we didn't see her in the trailer yet. I mean her presence may be a big reason why John betrays Dutch. It may be too big of a spoiler. We know she will be in the game, I just don't think we have seen her yet.

That's quite possible too and most definitely I believe she's the reason why he leaves.

According to her grave, Abigail was born 1877 meaning she'll be 22 in 1899 and was around 34 years old during Red Dead Redemption.

Of course, she may of lied about her age although lying to your own son about such a thing seems extreme but I guess it's possible. Many of the women in my family deal with age very differently to the men, I have an aunt who has just turned 39 seven times.

???????? well 22 is a plausible age for the woman in the trailer very much so.

Yeah, the woman looks around 22 but I don't it's Abigail. She looks and sounds very different, even her dialogue doesn't sound like something Abigail would say.

Wow! Very keen investigative work, sir! I never thought to reference her tombstone. And you're right - the woman in the trailer could be 22.

I'm just surprised they made Abigail look SO old in the original. She definitely looks older than 34.

Again, kudos.

Damn yeah 34.. She didn't age well at all. New Trailer shows her I believe. Wasn't too impressed when I saw her tbh

Life was harsher on a person.  Generally no real make up or other ingredients to help preserve one's appearance.  That's why whiskey was so popular.  Back then it was the ultimate cure for everything that ailed ya.

Everyone's a 10 after half a bottle of whiskey.

People have said that but I don't think it is.

The voice soundes super similar and what about the women sitting next to John at the fire with the kid on her lap? That's gotta be Abigail and Jack

Yeah those two are. She just seems a bit bigger than Abigail did, and why would she be talking to Arthur that way? John maybe, but not Arthur. Unless she was talking about John I suppose. I DUNNO
