Wow dude... Calm yourself... Most of the comments were people actually trying to help you... Sometimes the obvious isn't so obvious... You wouldn't be having these problems if you followed some of the advice here.3 points

Ever have a bounty hunt go as stupidly as this one? In my defense, it was about 2 am, and my brain had long since began to drift... I picked up a bounty mission in Valentine. Just had to go near Wallace Station, capture a woman outlaw, and return her alive to the Valentine jail. I had a $300 bounty on my own head in West Elizabeth (thanks a lot, Micah!), but it shouldn't be a problem, as I only had to step across the county line briefly. My first few attempts were all foiled by bounty hunters coming after me just as I was approaching my target. That would start a mission lock-down, and my target would disappear. I ran a couple of times, and stayed to fight (and die) twice. There were just too many of them. I decided to pay off the bounty and come back later. Went on to other stuff, and made enough money to pay off the bounty after a bit. I happened to be in Saint Denis when I decided to try again, so I took the train to Wallace Station instead of riding since it was so far away. Made it there only to discover that my horse did not follow. I tried camping and sleeping in hopes it would spawn nearby, but no luck. And for some reason, there is no stable within miles of this area. So I just went in on foot. I figured maybe she had a horse I could steal. She did not. I hog-tied her and started carrying her back to Valentine on foot. Let me tell you, it is a long, long trek! But maybe I would find a horse along the way. Hmm... where is everybody? I've been carrying this lady for MILES, and there's nobody around. I got about two-thirds of the way there, and finally someone comes by on a horse. Of course I shot him in the head to take his steed, but as soon as I do, I get the message: MISSION FAILED. YOU RECEIVED A BOUNTY. (Or something like that). Respawned, still without my horse, back near Wallace Station again. It was now about 3 am, but I was stubborn and stupid. Hog-tied her again, and ran her all the way back to Valentine on foot. Got a whole $25 for my effort, so I guess it was worth it, right? Arthur called it a night, and softly cried himself to sleep.3 points

Just to chime in and add to what you said. There are TWO distinct and separate problems with RDR2 on PS4 Pro. 1 - 4K Checkerboard Rendering from a 1080p source is absolutely ridiculous. With an added, aggressive AA solution, resulting in a blurry image. It is absolutely NOT anything to do with TV settings. Because every other PS4 game looks BETTER than RDR2 on PS4 Pro. This is simply unacceptable from the highest profile game developer on the planet. 2 - HDR is fake. Not even just broken, but absolutely a FAKE implementation - this has been proven by measuring the color ranges in the supposedly "HDR" mode. But this is not only on Ps4 Pro. This is on every platform. And R* knows they implemented a FAKE HDR solution. It was no accident. And therefore they should not get a free pass because they LIED to their consumers.3 points

It is pretty amazing the amount of in depth customization you have available to you in this game so let's see how you decided to dress, shave and style your Arthur! This is my outlaw as of last night. Trying to get that beard to max length. Digging the flat cap though. Sorry for the mediocre quality.2 points

I don't get it, why can''t we: craft during missions.. seems ****ing obvious to me, craft some tobacco or something so we're not reliant on a tiny ****in little pool to which we get stamina or dead eye from. restart a god damn mission from the pause menu? you create this ridiculous criteria we're supposed to tick off, making the game a boring slog, but we have to find some random way of dying just to get the option to restart the piece of sh*t? having to manually reload to then reload the mission and waste more time. the missions are hard the first time, but we can't see the criteria and then when we can see the criteria you've already ****ed us, it then becomes a painstaking boring arduous game of navigating 500 menus and manually reloading and saving. in a game where any number of random things that can happen to completely **** you up. i can spend 9 hrs retrying 3 missions and it's becomming a chore, the amount of hours spent just wading through menus and plain oversight on rockstar's part is driving me nuts.2 points

I sometimes watch those youtube tip channels, and from them I found out there's all kinds of stuff you can do in RDR2 that I had not noticed or overlooked. I'll stick a few down here now, and I encourage folk to post more as they think of them - anything, however simple, that folk might not realised Determine gun load out at gunsmiths Sit on edge of some cliffs Set a dozen waymarkers on the map (and go straight to map and back without multiple button pushes) Lasso and stab animals when hunting Toggle single push to run option in settings (along with other options) Rest at closed shops to jump to shop opening time Equip pocket watch for in-game animation time telling2 points

Well, it seems R* is working on a "Title update" as they confirmed . It will include a fix for the missing camp members, let's hope it includes a patch for the graphics . Quote from https://www.polygon.com/2018/11/6/18068362/red-dead-redemption-2-disappearing-gang-members-bug We are aware of the issue and are currently working on a fix to be included in an upcoming Title Update.”2 points

To be fair, I shoot A LOT of things in this game. To quote Ash Williams: "Shoot first, think never."2 points
-
That's a single shot (there's your problem). Use the repeater. I did this by shooting a bounty hunter (and his horse) and some bird that happened to be flying by (using a repeater). HOLD aim (L2), engage dead eye (right stick), press R1 over each target, then shoot (R2) - now you can release L2 Took me a while to figure it out, but it's actually extremely helpful. Get used to it, and you can easily kill 7+ targets at once (and look like a badass in the process).2 points

Selling both Legendary and Perfect pelts to the Trapper unlocks the recipes for the clothing: you do not need to hold onto perfect pelts in your inventory. I knew this was true for Legendary pelts, but it holds true for perfect pelts as well. There are also a TON of side businesses to rob without incurring Honor penalties OR bounties. You just have to keep a look out for "irregularities" in buildings that indicate hidden or inaccessible rooms.2 points

Or Blizzard for that matter. Because the world was clamoring for a Diablo mobile game....2 points

Exactly. The town is a big no-no for guns. There are just too many witnesses, and you will be dead before you know it. However, if you're in a rural area, and you commit and murder, make sure you kill all the witnesses around you, or the law will be coming.2 points

OMG, there should be a massive spoiler tag for spoilers like this. It sounded like it was going to be an early in the game spoiler, this is a massive bombshell of a spoiler.2 points
-
Good advice salty though I intend to hit max honor first, then go down Cheaper equipment is more use early in the game (rather than later), and avoiding crime/law better early too. Once got award for max honor, then go for bandit while going down in honor to hit max low2 points

Is anyone else having issues on the PS4 pro with blurry graphics. I am having issues on my PS4 pro (I’m using a lg oled) and the middle to long distance graphics are terribly blurry. The strange thing is it seems to fix itself dependant on the time of the day i have seen a reddit post with other users complaining about the same thing and it’s possibly due to the PS4 not being able to display in true 4K. Apparently the Xbox one x dosent have this blurry issue has anyone else experienced this and is rockstar going to fix it?1 point

I was looting some O'Driscolls after an ambush, and I accidentally punched my horse right in the ribs. I don't have the video to upload to show what happens when you do this, but: Which I found both surprising and hilarious after I recalled earlier in the game: We should turn this into a "I punched my horse" GIF thread. Punch your horse, record what happens, and post it here!1 point

No mission active or bounty hunters on your ass? I'm guessing you might have already tried, but do a manual save and exit the game. In general, completely exiting a game when you turn of your console helps prevent a lot of bugs. If that doesn't work, maybe try killing yourself (in the game, NOT IRL).1 point

Oh and to the people wondering about the PS4 controller to xbonex adapter... there are several types. I haven’t used one yet but I had one for the 360 and the original Xbox... I’ve always sincerely hated their controllers. https://www.amazon.com/PS3-Xbox-Controller-Adapter-playstation-4/dp/B00WJ1HONE?ref_=mw_olp_product_details1 point

Working on it still. I cut everything off to make him look like Lemmy early on, and now I'm guzzling Hair Tonic like there's no tomorrow. Once I get him suitably past length 9 or so, I'll revisit, but right now, he's getting pretty unkempt/Hillbilly-ish. Regular baths seem to help, and so does pommade, but once that beard gets to where I want it to be, I'll probably look to get him a haircut. Edit: I'll get a pic up later.1 point

I have a new rule for the forums: Every time someone brings up Micah, I am required to thank folks for reminding me how much I hate that gutless yellow turd. So, as required by my own rule, Thank you for reminding me how much I HATE Micah, and how much I wish I could have1 point

I love that cap and vest combo. I use them too, along with the dark green trenchcoat and cavalry gloves. At least until I can rock some overalls.1 point

Ah... Good catch! I rarely use my scopes, so I didn't even realize that. Glad you figured it out!1 point

Good on you for figuring it out. I didn't fully figure it out until right at the start of chapter 3 and I did the same thing with checking vids and tutorials. I'm convinced something's different about it from the original RDR.1 point

OH DEAR LORD! Wasn't working with repeater either, even when standing practically ontop of a pronghorn. So I had a brainstorm and just figured it out ... You can't be scoped. FFS1 point

Funny you ask...it let me 'stow' it on the back of my horse, but at some point it fell off and I didn't notice...when I got all the way back to the camp it was gone. Meh, probably would have been rotten by that time anyways.1 point

@DylBandit and @JTeixeira Unfortunately I reinitialized my console and went to the stables only to find Ardenne's horse for sale for $140. So, like R* asked me to do, I made a video of me riding to the stables, showing the available horses, none of which were the Warhorse. Currently uploading the video to Youtube then I will send them the link and see what they say. I know what they're doing....they're asking me to do little things to kill time, hoping that I finish the game before it's resolved. In any case, I'll update the thread as soon as I get something back. More than likely tomorrow if history of this ticket repeats itself. I have a shaved head but if I had hair I would be pulling it out right now! 😡1 point

Yes I have done all of this, I have received nothing from the special edition content. And no word from rockstar support at all.1 point

This I wrote now in the commentary box of digital foundry. I hope we receive an answer. Hey guys I´m a big fan of your channel. How I can talk privately with you about the problems of red dead redemption 2 on the ps4 pro. I mean the technical issues. Do you send a messsage to rockstar games? Is this the game that you have tested two month before. I think not. The blur destroys the game experience on the pro. I think it has nothing to do with the implemantation of checkerboard rendering. It is to much of motion blur in the game and to agressive taa. Sharpen slider is only in the 1080p mode. This is why the game looks so much better in 1080p. I´ve really sensible eyes. I can play all other titles on the pro. No other majortitle release has that big graphical issues. We must start a petition. You guys can look at this thread. It is a major problem for all users on the ps4 pro. A lot of gamers bought a ps4 pro right now, with the bundle version of rdr2. What is sony thinking about this mistake? Is rockstar cashcowing us? I have Odyssey to, and it runs pretty well on the pro and looks ten times better on the pro. Look at this forum guys, please. You can help this friendly community of rdr2 users on play station pro a lot. WE need some more advertising on this problem. We receive only answers from rockstar that the hdr is bugged but that is not the problem. Become solutions that does´nt have somethig to do with the issue. It is not a hardware issue. A lot of the users in this forum playing on 10 bit oled displays with premium hdr are cables and premium hardware. That is not our problem. All other titles running well and looking gorgeos. Please help us and gave a statemement and give us some of your expert support. We need it. Thanxs guys for all your technical analyzes on all titles. I like your channel so much. Here is the link for the forum. https://www.rdr2.org/forums/topic/1170-rdr2-graphics-blurry-ps4-pro/?page=11 point

Good call. Yeah, you don't need to have played the first Red Dead Redemption to enjoy this one, but having knowledge of the story in the first game will increase enjoyment in this one. There are lots of subtle details and conversations that have a lot of extra weight if you know what comes after. For instance, there is a scene in RDR2 where you learn to fish that has some amazing emotional symmetry with a scene at the very end of RDR1. Also there are some jokes that you won't realize are jokes if you aren't familiar with the first game. I agree with Kean_1 that Red Dead Redemption 1 is going to be hard to go back and play after 2. I played RDR1 start to finish 3 times over the last 8 years. It is still a great game, but the gameplay improvements in RDR2 are going to be difficult to lose. You might be better off watching one of those 20-30 minute Red Dead Redemption 1 recap videos on Youtube. Personal choice.1 point

****, I forgot about that option... (sorry) @Cokeyskunk Don't read the OP, it's a spoiler!1 point

Best advice: Start with the following mind-set: go slow; be good; act like reality. You are an outlaw on the run, not super-rambo. Pay off bounties ASAP. Always keep a reserve cash and items fund for this. Don't shoot the law - surrender or hide. Don't go anywhere you're wanted. Flee, hide, pay bounty off. In towns, hitch horse and walk slow. Don't antagonise, walk away from fights. Increase honor. I would probably not change play styles until after completing the story and hitting max honor, but at least don't mess about until chapter 3. Much easier that way.1 point

i love everything about the game except main missions, hell yesterday i spent 8 hrs studying songbirds through binoculars and it was the most fun i've had in a game in forever, my only gripe is with story missions. they're so annoying, and when u retry it it's 10x more annoying. and it becomes a game of reloading and navigating menus. everything else about rdr2 is a dream. but the missions ruin the whole experience, because there's so ****ing many and even though u only really need 70, it's sucking every last bit of fun out of the game, one can take hours and hours.1 point
