  1. Spent all weekend hunting for this thing... Took FOREVER! Spent like 6 hours hunting that mother****ing panther, but I finally got that son of a bitch! I spent more time hunting for this satchel than playing the story missions. I'm still in chapter 2, but I think this satchel will prove to be worth having as I progress. TIPS: More specific tip:

  2. Wouldn't it be hilarious if Rockstar made attaining gold on certain missions physically impossible just to mess with you? It's a very Rockstar thing to do. You're hundred hours of game play is doing things for the sole purpose of getting them done. This isn't the right game for you.

  3. Came up with this idea after trying to Rob a Saint Denis factory worker.. About 10 of them started chasing me. I make the most nonsensical edits. For real. Enjoy. Like and subscribe if you enjoy.

  5. Lmao! I'm literally playing without the DAY ONE patch and everything people are saying seems to be because of their own self...

  6. I'd advocate that paying less than $1/hr to play ANY game is a great ROI, but that's just my perspective. It's also curious as to why anyone would trade in or sell this game before the online portion is released. Maybe the mechanics don't work for some, or maybe it's something else, but even if I HATED the story (which I don't), I'd at least wait until I'd played more than half the game to make a decision.

  8. My suggestion wouldn't have been to go through the game slow, having fun, then re doing missions via the replay option to get the golds. You could always buy the guide to know the criteria beforehand if it means so much to you. But you've sold it now, so bye, and good luck! Find something fun to do.

  9. This works so well it isn't even funny. For all the talk of how immersive the game is, when I'm riding solo into a den of O'Driscolls, I NEVER actually ride all the way in. I get that little indicator on my mini map of enemy combatants, tie my horse off in the distance, and approach slowly by leapfrogging from cover to cover with a rolling block rifle, repeater, and dynamite, ready to party. For smaller engagements, like at campfires, I open with dynamite and finish up with a shotgun. When raiding a den though? A lot of sniping and a LOT of chew to replenish my Dead Eye. If you're patient, you can wipe out fifteen to twenty of them without breaking a sweat. They can try to flank , but it never seems to be an issue if I'm using a repeater (or two). I love the tactical thrill of a good old fashioned assault with cover to cover movement, pop shot mechanics, and strategic reloads. If I want to charge them like a maniac and do flying leaps with a rocket launcher, I'll go play Halo. But these magnificent fools did an amazing job with the combat. Edit: there's also times when the game feels like this, despite everything I just said:

  10. I think everything can be summed up in your previous thread. The responses won't be any different in this new thread. Simply sounds like you need to move on especially now that you sold the game. As for the hyperbole about the game's success not being real, there were people like you who said the same thing about GTAV and that title just passed the 100 million unit mark several years later. .....RDR2 hit 17 mil in less than two weeks. Hype only carries a game so far my friend. I suspect if you come back in a couple months you'll see a similar trend with RDR2. Hell, I'll wager Christmas will bring in a quite a few sales alone. Let's get something straight though..... My issue isn't with you or your perception, dislike, etc. of the game. It's the irrational remarks that just because you hate the game, that somehow everyone else will feel the same. I felt strongly about FC5 and I voiced my opinion on Ubi's official forums (big difference there) in hopes that some things would change but not once did I think that my opinion was true for everyone else. They still made a tidy sum off that game. .....c 'est la vie. I moved on.

  11. I missed your edit. That does sound really frustrating... I guess I just don't care enough about the gold medals. I'll might go for it the second time around, but for a first play through I just want to take it slow and enjoy it. No sense in burning yourself out like that when the game has so much more to offer besides the story. I've spent more time exploring than playing story missions.

  13. Dude, thank you for this information! I had absolutely no idea I was supposed to get TWO CODES! I literally just opened the game, grabbed the code and put it in. I figured it was just one code that did all the bonus materials, tbh. I didn't look at it in it's entirety. I hope you get somewhere with this. I will now let R* I only received one code. Hopefully I can get somewhere with them. Best of luck, I'll update here as well.

  14. If we're not careful this will turn into a political debate rather than an RDR2 thread. But, since i can't resist nailing my own colours to the mast, however briefly, I'll just say that I mostly disagree with PZA because I tend towards favouring something like an internet bill of rights because I feel that tech monopolies (like YTube and Twitter etc) are de facto public squares/utilities more than private companies at this point - and when you factor in de-personing by internet hosts, search engines, and tech payment options (Google, Paypal etc), as well as politically motivated physical/financial de-platforming/censorship by mob veto, then you have entered the realm of unacceptable large-scale censorship and the erosion of free speech. Obviously, as a free-speech fundamentalist liberal/libertarian I'm very biased!

  15. I literally dreamt about playing last night. This is just odd. basically neither system can play this game exactly the way it was advertised in videos etc. the xbonex has frame drop issues and bad controller lag and the pro is out of focus and causes proples eyes to hurt and headaches. soo basically this was meant to run on hardware that is AT LEAST a year away. i honestly don’t remember anything in all of video game history that is on this level... meaning, getting hype up soo high on an unfinished product presenting it and releasing it to record sales numbers... then the software company totally ignore the customers. And give us generic “fixes”. Going on 3 weeks without even an acknowledgement... sad.

  16. I spent HOURS hunting a Panther this weekend. I was finally starting to think I had to progress in the story to unlock it when it jumped me from behind. Came back and spent several more hours trying to spot it. I gave in, dropped some bait, and hid behind a rock. Spotted him within 2 minutes... The animals behave very realistically for the most part, so you have to treat them like you would IRL. You can just run into the woods and gun down everything you see. You have to be patient. Be selective on using the bait (no need for it when hunting deer) and stay quiet/walk slow.

  17. Please, please , please use the following guidelines when posting details about side events and missions. There are a lot of people here that would rather discover these things themselves as surprises. Using the format in the link below will ensure those who don't want to spoilers will not mistakenly run across them. As for the particular event:

  22. Well that might give you a slightly unrealistic expectation of the game haha. I do not play. I mean I have in the past and I know HOW to play, but I don't do it that often. That said I had a decent time trying to beat these opponents personally. Maybe I'm just dumb or I suck, but playing poker is consistently fun for me because it feels authentic.

  26. This image just gets funnier the more I look at it. Next to that chair, there's a random leg sticking straight up. There's a dude in the bottom left without a face, and another in the middle with some black smudge instead of eyes and a nose. Edit:in the first image, it looks like I just farted on that corpses head (and enjoyed it). He has a really smug look on his face lol

  28. Whenever this happens, you have to check the time and the honor system. Some missions will only allow you to do them according to a specific time of day or according to where your morality stands on the honor scale.

  29. Absolutely. The reporting feature is there to call our attention to things, so I encourage everyone to use it to flag content that violates the rules. For me, that goes double for spoilers and "click bait" or Solicitation. Please Report these items IMMEDIATELY if encountered. Nobody wants to be deceived into opening a thread for Youtube or Twitch pages. Embedding a video into a post is one thing, but external links should be informative and not a blatant attempt to drive traffic to profit.

  30. Carried a perfect pronghorn buck all the way across the map (can't fast travel with it either) for a camp upgrade and it finally dropped AS I GOT TO CAMP... That's one way to learn... I have noticed that my horse's ass will stay bloody from a pelt though. Well, I'm hoping it's from the pelts and not my ass...

  31. My wife and I both play this game. One thing we do when we are on long rides with other members of the camp to get to the start of the mission, is try and cut the other people off. It's funny what they say to you. There was one mission, I can't remember which one, (I believe it was one of the first missions in chapter 2), my wife completely cut Dutch off and his horse went arse over tea kettle! She was all like, "Sorry about your luck buddy!"

  33. That's true. The satchel is probably only worth getting in the beginning of the game anyway. Even if that is true, I enjoyed putting the work into it and exploring.

  34. After the first like 4 hours of not spotting it, I was starting to think the same thing. Then it jumped me from behind... As mad as I was, I was happy that I hadn't completely wasted all that time. Doesn't help that it can only spawn in 2 tiny sections of the map... Even with the guide, I had trouble finding it. They programmed these animals surprisingly realistically. Keep in mind that you're hunting a predator that is also hunting you. You likely won't see it until it's already running at you (happened like 3 times). That's when I got patient. I found a good spot where I dropped some bait, hid behind a nearby rock and spotted it within a few minutes. I actually saw it long before it saw me. More specific tip: I may try killing another just to make sure that tip was worth giving, but that's how I finally got it. Hopefully it will save someone else 5+ hours of trial and error...

  35. Dude, I'm on chapter 2 still with at least 50 hours. There is PLENTY to do besides the story... I've enjoyed the story so far personally. What was "so sh*t" about the story missions? (without spoilers please)

  36. I believe it is both. At least that's what I heard. I always like the hard copy of a game. Looks good on my gaming shelf LOL Maybe digital is the way to go. I've only bought digital once....Tiger Woods pga TOUR 2014 and had no issues. Mind you it's 2 different companies. EA sports and R*. Something to consider for next time.

  37. Red dead is an open world survival game and one of the primary game mechanics is the ability to hunt, fight, or kill any entity. The fact that he chose to execute a feminist multiple times is not evidence of any underlying hatred or bigotry toward that group in the same vein that if I upload a video of me massacring every man I find; that is not indicative of any underlying misandry. If you declare any group to be a protected class, say feminists then you set in motion a slide down the slippery slope of complete and utter censorship. If Youtube removes any channels that kill feminists, what happens when someone uploads a video of themselves murdering every Black person they find and the media have an equal reaction? Surely the same arguments apply, surely rules should be applied universally? Then women? Then who's left? Complete and utter freedom is always preferential to restricted freedom, you're advocating for the former. A while ago Pewdiepie dropped the N-Word while live streaming and as a result of that; a hit-piece from the Wall Street Journal bemoaned Youtube's promotion of racist content. This resulted in a lot of advertisers pulling funding from Youtube, putting even more financial pressure on a site that is one of Google's biggest financial sinks. Considering you're not even aware of who Tucker Carlson is I doubt you would have heard of the recent controversy surrounding an alt-right podcast that ran a charity stream for Children with cancer. During the stream close to $30k was raised and some of the guests made edgy jokes about the holocaust, again the Wall Street Journal wrote a hit piece, attempted to get advertisers pulled and also pressured the charity to refund the donations due to "hatred and bigotry", which they did. Youtube likely concerned about avoiding another PR nightmare immediately terminated the channel and banned him on all their platforms. The controversy surrounding Red dead 2 also surfaced at the same time as this, as did the ban. Removal of his channel was not due to TOS violations, it was to avoid advertisers pulling even more funding. It was a purely financial decision not a principled one. If you search on Youtube right now not only can you find ISIS propaganda, promotion of terrorism, pornography; but pretty much all content which is in violation of the TOS. The TOS is little more than a tool to remove of any liability from youtube in case of legal action.

  39. Had to start a new game twice now just trying to learn the controls and everything seems to be a very over-complicated mess. The original Red Dead games were fun and this? It just seems like too much. I just cant get the hang of it. Feel very disappointed about it, regret even buying the damned game. There doesn't seems to be as much open exploration, and the amount a crap items and the economy and trying to juggle all this garbage seems over tedious. Anyone else feel this way?

  41. Basically what Rick said. I just button mashed the calm button. Crouch slowly while continuing to calm it. Then start patting it heavily when close enough. You won't even need to lasso it. Once it seems calm enough, mount it. It shouldn't even resist.

  42. To me it is an issue on some tasks, just yesterday I had done 2 task both lead me to the middle of nowhere. Spent more time traveling that dealing with the task. Trains and stage coaches and the side missions are fine, but I had task that I set out for myself and it was a buzz kill.

  43. Yeah, I'm pretty much the FPS geek when it comes to video games, I really need that smooth gameplay, but, RDR2 is good enough to see past it. I can definitely see why PC players would really prefer the game on the PC, because of the better hardware sides of things.

  44. I have had to do this for a couple missions and I honestly couldn't figure out why. I too tried to ask for help on the issue but no one was able to figure it out either. I was going to contact Rockstar but I got the mission going that I was stuck on so I didn't bother. Maybe it is worth asking them or bringing it to their attention.

  48. 1) The reload button is also the melee button. If you're close to someone and push that button, you will knock them with the butt of the weapon, etc. Lesson learned, move on. These are repeatable, randomized events and not the end of the world. I had to kill the same guy because I didn't realize I didn't have the money to pay him when I lost. ......c 'est la vie. Could also be tied to your settings for auto aim / locking on. I have my sensitivities set really low personally as I hated the way it would pull me toward targets that I didn't want to engage. 2) The rifle is on your horse. You need to grab it before you start any of these types of activities. You'll see what is equipped on you when you're on foot. I always equip the weapons I want before getting off and then make sure they appear on my back before I engage. 3) The crafting system isn't overly complicated depending on what you're trying to craft but then again, it isn't required or necessary either. You can essentially play the whole game without crafting anything if you want to. I don't craft things except for certain types of ammo and that's really simple. 4) What else did you want from the bear? I think I got a claw and the skin. Check your inventory but either way, the skin is the main point. 5) So since you won't elaborate on the downed girl encounter, I'm guessing you dropped the bear skin and it disappeared when you decided to help the woman get to wherever she needed to go? I would have chose the skin over the woman but either way, all legendary animal skins will automatically go to the Trapper if you lose track of them. Check with your local Trapper. Sounds like you're insistent on believing the game is crap regardless. ......and quite frankly, I don't see the experience changing for you anytime soon with that sort of focus. Again, if you're struggling with a part of the game there are plenty of folks here willing to help. .....but if you're simply looking to express your dissatisfaction with it, that's fine too but I just wouldn't expect and overwhelming acceptance from others here in regard to your opinion. I guess my advice at this point would be don't try to force a square peg in a round hole if you sincerely don't like the game regardless of your reasons. It's not worth the frustration.
