Pacing in this game is a sensitive and divisive topic. Some folks find the game irreparably slow, seemingly preferring the reckless and wild abandon of GTA or FPS games. Others, like myself, are fully immersed in what R* and Take Two have done here. The pacing is glorious; and what happened to me last night was a perfect example of how this game manages to continually surprise, delight, and keep me on the edge of sleep deprivation despite all efforts to put the controller down at a reasonable hour. Riding down out of the mountains last night after finishing up the third leg of I was heading south out of the snow covered peaks towards Lake Isabella, girding myself for the long, arduous (and somewhat boring) ride back to Valentine, when heavy fog rolled in (taking a moment aside here to acknowledge the amazing job done with the randomized weather patterns in this game--absolutely phenomenal). I was trotting along with a newer horse that I was leveling up to sell off to the farrier, when a large, fleeting shadow flickered off to my left. Still needing perfect elk pelts and having seen a few wandering about in the area, I paused momentarily to draw my rifle when I saw her, the elusive Having not actively sought her out before, I was stunned. Like a ghost in the mist, she appeared and dashed off into the vapor--I quickly dismounted and pursued on foot (again, the tooltips here did an excellent job guiding me through the process). Continually, my exuberance got the best of me and I plunged ahead in the deep snow, regardless of the potential of scaring her off yet again. Finally, after several missteps and repeated spooks, I settled into a slow rhythm and made my way ever so closer to her. And then I mounted. A minor gripe is that the experience of taming the horse is poorly explained in the tooltips, and should have been better worded for clarity. Having not had to previously tame a horse in the game, the experience was incredibly frustrating and defeating as she bucked me off and tore into the trees with wild abandon (if there's one criticism about the experience, it's that they probably should have had this be a side job or quest somewhat early in the game--to break horses for the farrier in Valentine for money). Down, but not defeated, I pursued her. Two more times I got close enough to mount before she took off as I prepared to try and mount again. I was thirty minutes in--over a day had passed in-game tracking this elusive creature by foot, being taunted and teased the whole way, but I would not be dissuaded. I was in it to win it, no matter how long it took. Finally, I had a revelation--instead of waiting for the tooltip to tell me when to attempt a mount, I was going to just "go for it". I approached slowly and cautiously (yet again, for what seemed like the tenth or eleventh time), and as I got within reach, as she reared up and prepared to take off, I leaped and was met with success! Throwing caution to the wind I trusted my gut and rode out the maelstrom as she fought to be free of me--for what seemed to be an eternity, I was locked in a contest of wills; me, or this wild, untamed horse. And in a flash, it was over. She settled into an amicable trot as we continued to bond back down the mountain to where I had left my other horse cold, tired, and alone for two days (I felt a little guilty about that part of it, because now that horse was "old and busted"--unlikely to be ridden again, and my recen acquisition was "the new hotness") . Forty-five minutes of effort culminated in the capture of this beautiful, elusive creature. It was exhilarating. A purely random encounter that I was unprepared for turned into the most engaging and rewarding experience I've had in the game after almost three weeks of playing on a daily basis. An experience that was more fulfilling than ENTIRE GAMES by other studios and publishers--curiously enough, an event devoid of violence or mayhem (in a game stuffed full of it), which in and of itself is a testament to the design of the game and the level of thought and detail that underpin the many and varied systems on display. Oh, and as an added bonus, on my way back to Valentine, I also encountered As if the day couldn't get any better. Once I returned to Valentine, I immediately rode to the stables to sell my "old and busted" horse, and rechristen my newest acquisition "Ghost". After all, I've always wanted to be a "Ghost Rider". TL: DR: Epilogue to the story. After handling the horse issue, I rode to the Trapper to sell off the Legendary Hide I had acquired on my journey. As I closed in, the Stranger Mission popped up on my radar. I had the benefit of having some foliage between us, so I approached them from behind. When I got close enough, i just listened to them for a bit. What happened next was nothing short of high comedy as I also remembered to capture the video of this, so once I have the time later, I'll trim it down and upload it, because it was damn hilarious! Oh, I'm attached to Arnold (as in Schwarzenegger) my Dutch Drafthorse, but the thrill of chasing down that horse, and the atmosphere, the visuals.... I'm getting chills just thinking about it again. It may depend on the terrain where you make the attempt. I know it can spawn in multiple areas, and I (foolishly) tried mine in the far north where the snow came up to my knees, and the damn thing was running a picket fence through trees. That white on white is pretty tough to track when you've been roleplaying Arthur IRL as a cantankerous middle aged man with borderline alcoholism.3 points

Caught this glitch and actually remembered to capture it. I was attempting the long shot in the sharpshooter challenges. https://youtu.be/HaoPWNFYDHA3 points

I don't remember the amount, but I do remember what I did, I was in cinematic mode and the Idiot Magnet on my horse turned on, I auto ran into another guy that was sight-seeing in the middle of the road in Valentine, I was charged with assault he was charged with dynamite to the chest, trying to take care of the lonely witness one thing leads to another and at the end I was shooting an elderly woman when I tried to take cover at the Inn... I was feeling like I was on the Mad Max movie, my character was shooting everything while yelling "WITNESS THIS!" to the town.3 points

I go by how much alcohol I've consumed. Right now, I'm at about 35 drinks since the game launched three weeks ago.2 points

you want all the satchels, each one expands space for it's specified items. Then you want to get the Legend of the East satchel which gives you max storage. By default you can hold 5 items max. 5 venison, 5 game meat, etc. Tonics satchel increases the amount of Tonics you can carry, ingredients increases those items (cooking ingredients), Kit satchel not sure what it has, i know the campfire is in it to make your camp. Provisions are your cooked or canned foods materials are your crafting materials, feathers, etc. Valuables is your loot satchel, rings, belt buckles, and other stuff you loot off bodies. And i just got the popup @Truth has beat me to this Funny i was actually going to start working on the Legend Satchel myself tonight.2 points

The same holds true of using hair growth tonics. I've been in Chapter 2 for over two weeks now, and no matter how much hair tonic I take, my beard is stuck at a solid 7. I tried 6 tonics a day for a week in-game, with no further results (Dutch turned into a real A-hole when I did that, complaining about not "tithing the box" and all that jazz--really wanted to slit his belly over his insolence).2 points

Hello. First of all you need to find 3star rabbit (all animals are quality 1-3) and kill him with 1 hit from varmint rifle - track him while crouching (it allows you to come pretty close to him), call on him, he will raise his head in your direction, then pop dead eye and shoot him in his head. Anyway I strongly recommend you to get legendary buck trinket which allows you to get better quality pelts/bodies while hunting. For example if you find 2star rabbit and you kill him you can get good quality pelt. But if you have legendary buck trinket you can get perfect quality pelt even from 2star rabbit. To get legendary buck trinket - just kill legendary buck, visit any fence ( at emerald ranch for instance) and craft that trinket.2 points

I know this is common sense already but if you go around Saint Denis and greet everyone you see, you get honor for every 3rd-4th person you greet. People say Blackwater is good too but I canāt confirm that since I canāt get into Blackwater without being chased like a damn dog with rabies by pet patrol. An added bonus is that you can do this and increase your horse bond at the same time without much effort. Just lead your newly acquired horse (or horse with bond level lower than 4) and just walk around leading your horse. You gain horse bond pretty fast this way, although it may take a little while. i posted this to share that this is an amazing combo of activities that only benefits the player. Hope you guys enjoyed this2 points

When you are at horseshoe camp, you should see some tiny black dots scattered around. Getting close to them will prompt interactions with the NPCs. Are you not seeing these at all?2 points

I've known @BropolloCreed79 for a while now, I didn't have to understand the words he used to know how he was role playing. I actually looked for that the other day, but I didn't see it. To be fair, I wasn't at a liquor store... I ended up buying something else that seemed appropriate enough.1 point

Ditto that. But it was that way with RDR also for me. And i'm a huge fan of the hunting games anyway. Before this I spent a good portion of my week playing TheHunter: Call of the Wild. I was really happy the hunting in RDR2 is almost as realistic, and at some things more realistic, than the hunting game.1 point

Excellent, thank you sir. I almost cried last night, I was over getting 3 star beaver pelts, a 3 star Wolf showed up, then a 3 star moose. I got them all, then made a bee-line to the trapper and camp, I proceeded to fall in the darn lake and the moose and wolf fell off the horse, I was like oh HELL NO, but I was able to pick them up out of the water. I was nervous as all get out LOL1 point

Yeah, I think some don't realize just how deep some of the mechanics are in this game and quite frankly, R* doesn't do a very good job in explaining some of them. I mean, we are all learning some of these things by accident or through each other as we share our experiences. Some of this information seems scattered at best.1 point

I can confirm that you can carry up to 99 of each lure with the Legend of the East satchel. I already have it so I was able to go see for myself without having to google it up. I just bought 40 of each instead of 99 because I donāt think Iām gonna need that many. They can last you a while if you donāt break em. Also helps if you have the honorable discounts, up at 25% off and they cost about $1.60-1.80 each lure.1 point

@MachineGhost There have been a couple folks around here that have gone on rants about the bounty system but I could see by their posts that it was simply a lack of understanding of how the mechanic works. I'm glad to see you're at least open to explanations and tips people here have provided. There is a method to the madness and deeper than some understand. Here is a pretty decent explanation https://www.dexerto.com/red-dead-redemption/how-to-never-get-a-bounty-in-red-dead-redemption-2-wanted-system-explained-2183991 point

Regular shops. I have the others, just wasn't sure if you could buy any extras (only checked the bait shop that one time). Now that I can hold 99 of everything, I should go back and stock up on bait.1 point

If you get the reinorced item sets from one completing one challenge you get an extra tank, it depends upon which challenge as to which tank (so horseman is health). You need threes relevant sets for the next tank (so health is horseman, sharpshooter and weapons expert).1 point

This sounds like an OCD thing. I'm guessing that the OP would have been perfectly happy if RDR2 didn't award any medals at all. But since the gold medal exists... MUST HAVE AT ALL COSTS. Myself, I don't see the point in going for medals at all, with all the other more interesting content and goals in the game. When I finally finish the story, I might replay a few missions just to go for a better medal. Then again, I might not even bother. Seriously, they are pointless.1 point

Pretty much the way i feel. I wish we could kill Micah and Bill, but then that would ruin the story line of killing Bill with John in RDR. I was wonder what was so bad with Dutch when playing RDR, now i see lol I'm happy knowing that those 2 won't live long1 point

@lonley22 I do see it a little bit in the grass now, but it's a very slight difference that I probably wouldn't notice while playing. That first example (that I said was blurry as ****) would be horrible to play with though. If THAT is what you're seeing, then I completely understand you're frustration. The rest don't really look too bad, but I still totally understand the complaint. That comparison shot helped a lot, so thanks for that. You're right though, it looks more like my regular xbox than the image taken from the x.1 point

Signed up to this forum just to chime in as well. I've tried contacting R* support several times and got nowhere. They wouldn't acknowledge the issue of blurry visuals, and tried to tell me there was probably something wrong with the way my system was hooked up (even though every other game looks great). I have since tried even further to get a response from someone who could tell me that it was on their radar and that they are at least aware of the issue. It seems they are just ignoring my messages. So my question is; Where else can we make enough noise about it to where they have to take notice? I'm pretty sure they just don't care, but there has to be some way to illicit a response.1 point

Maybe not difficult per say, but frustrating and tedious. For example, getting $50 from robbing town folk and travelers took me awhile a pretty nice hit on my honor. Finding cougars and bears were a pain. The Gambler challenges, as mentioned, are a matter of luck and take some time to sink into them. The last few challenges just take a lot of time I'd say, but you know I'm gonna do them all š”1 point

That's a decision the parent has to make. I remember being that age and playing San Andreas with hookers, blowing peoples heads off, stabbing people, robbing, and it was fun. I clearly never grew up to be a serial killer after my childhood obviously, but Red Dead Redemption 2 isn't for the faint of heart for younger children. If you're worried about the graphical content for the child, simply don't let them play. It's a game about the wild west, and it's pretty realistic... BLOOD WILL BE SHED! I've learned children are really stubborn. If you tell them not to do something or play something or watch something, it's in their nature to crave and spark enormous interest in doing that specific thing. If the kid really wants to play, and you won't let him/her play, they will most likely find a way to play anyways at a friends house. Kids these days! š¤·āāļø1 point

Hey, folks! I've said before that the blurring image is not a big deal, but I must admit that it may be for some of you (it's still not a big deal for me though). I did some tests, as you suggested, and though it's something really bad going on, it's not related to motion blur as some of you insist, so it will help nothing if R* give us the option to turn it off in future patches). The issue is indeed with the upscaling process as some folks already pointed here. I realized that if you start the game in 1080p, as someone here said to do, and switch it back to 4k during the game it really will make the edges better, though you lost some fine details overall. So I think it's indeed the best option for you guys that can't play because of the blurring.1 point

I'm counting the seconds for the online part to come out I'm considering hibernation until late november, I finished the game twice and I'm starting to try a third time just because I can't get enough of it.... I can't say what I'm exicited about right now because I don't trust anything that isn't official from R* so I can only talk about real stuff after it's released ( even the leaks that I didn't see they confirming it ) BUT I do have a list of hopes I wished it came true for the online part hahahaha What I want to see is the same thing from RDR1 but "bigger, better, stronger"... meeting random people and going for a gang hideout to shoot all those AI enemies. More CO-OP feel than all these online experiences in all the other games. Getting weapons for finishing missions, doing feats or whatever else. Heist like mission without any kind of restriction, you can solo, you can duo, you can use your whole Posse for it kinda like the last doomsday heist... high risk - high reward stuff, you can do it all alone, but it will be hard AF and it will be worth it OR you can go safe, enter with 200 people and get a dollar for each. Be able to challenge people for Duels on free roam. ( Holstered Cowboy Pistol showdown ) Drunken bar brawls. Free roam races, much like the strangers you meet, be able to challenge someone to a race out in the open and not only on instanced race tracks or missions. Cool craftables that will make me want to go out of my way to find a rare pink fairy armadillo hiding on the blue side of the moon. Now what I don't want to see, is K/D warriors dancing around and shooting you for no reason whatsoever with bullsh*t fast shooting BB guns that can out-DPS a cannon. Unfortunately I know I'm daydreaming on this one. On that note I only hope it doesn't turn out to be like a free-for-all deathmatch where being a cowboy on the old west is a luxury you can't have.1 point

Yeah I was given a new code as well. I went to GameStop yesterday like I was advised to do by an employee last week and they said they donāt deal with product related problems in store anymore and gave me the number to GameStop support and reassured me that I would get a new code. I called today around 12:05pm (pacific time) and spoke to a lady, I think her name was Julie but she was nice but transferred me to their account department or something like that. This time it wasnāt so much pleasant as it was with Julie, this guy just couldnāt understand me when I kept repeating THAT I GOT 2 OF THE SAME DLC CODE. It was very frustrating as I was questioning and making sure that this new code would be the holy grail Iāve been desperately yearning. I ask: So this should relsolve all and I will have my missing items? Him: yes. Me: just want to clarify, this isnāt the warhorse DLC because I already have that, Iām missing the outfits, guns and other accessories. Him: this is the ultimate code, itās the best one, we give these out on special occasions and this is one of the. Me: but didnāt the ultimate edition come with that āultimate codeā? It just sounds so vague.. him: I donāt know sir. Well after hearing that I just gave up and accepted the code. Overall it was a bittersweet experience /: please everyone, hope/pray/whatever, that this works out for me! And Jack, Iām relieved and glad to hear that yours was solved brother!1 point
