*Use this thread to discuss anything and everything about Red Dead Online that doesn't require its own thread. Enjoy!* We've got one for Singleplayer, but not one for Red Dead Online. Discuss your happenings, tell your stories. Today I was walking out of the Gunsmith in Valentine when I heard someone go... "Oh! Hey! Are you the Moosh from Red Dead forums!?" I usually play with my headset on but muted. I was like "Oh shiii... That me...", fumbled around until I got unmuted, looked around and there was @DtrtWing lol Fun when you run into forum members unexpectedly3 points

Honestly, I really like this game mode. Knowing the aggressive game style that I play, this game mode is very fun. I like how you have to rush the safe house and keep stay until your opponents find their way as well. This game mode would be so fun with friends and posses without a doubt. I personally think this game mode would be so much more fun if it had different variants of it. Such as if everyone had horses and they have to get to their goal while the other team runs and tries to take them down before they do or another variant would be everyone has tomahawks only, which that would be pretty interesting. I'm liking and enjoying the game modes they send out every Tuesday, it sure does make you look forward to something which is a very nice touch. Already, after a short time out of beta, this game is really getting better every week and I'm glad R* pushed out the 1.10 update to fix some of the issues that made drove everyone crazy. I hope to see more game modes next Tuesday as I put this Head For The Hills on the top of my list as of now. Very well done, and I like the variety of game modes that they released so far, definitely well done in my honest opinion.2 points

Remember in the single player game when you upgraded that satchel to the max one? so you could hold 99 of items in stead of 3? Well, how great would it be if we had two options, I would gladly pay 15 gold bars for double the space and 25 gold bars for triple!! Rockstar wants to sell gold, I think this could be a great way to do it, if you chose to grind for it or buy it, you can instantly sustain twice or three times as long in pvp or free roam where you need tonics, food, etc.. just a thought, but I seriously would enjoy the grind towards that gold if I knew in the end I coudl hole 30 of each thing instead of 10. I know this is an idea for Rockstar but I was curious to see if any other players felt the same way. Same with a bandoleer, you can buy a tier I, tier II, or Tier III of either a satchel or bandoleer. if you choose too? I think it is a good idea.1 point

First there are a lot more fish, everywhere, Now it seems that you need specific lures to catch them. Up until this update I was using only the swamp lure as it was all I had, I actually had 3 or 4 lures early on but in the beginning I lost a few of them, then I found that using the one swamp lure in lakes, rivers, creeks or swamps gave me the same results. Over the past few days there were two different fish items in the daily challenges "cook seasoned succulent fish meat" and "catch 5 different fish" I think? Well I went to get the sockeye salmon as they give you succulent fish meat and I could not get a bite, for a long time, and there were plenty of fish, I would cast right in front of them, I did the flick, etc.. ( I have caught nearly 5000 fish, so I know exactly how to catch fish effectively.) Then I realized they might have updated the fishing and so I went and bought the other lures and sure enough, first cast with the special spinner caught a perch, so that worked as it is supposed to, it will catch any and all fish in a given body of water large and small, and then I put on the special river lure, which was for legendary fish in story mode, I think I could have just used the river lure but this is what I had on hand,, and sure enough first cast again, caught a salmon, and each subsequent cast as well, actually catching them has never been easier, it was really quick, no messing around, just one after the other. So that was my observation.1 point

I have had no issues with griefers if any level since the new system has been implemented and that is despite having never changed to “defensive.” The difference between the arguments is that one is based on what a player has witnessed happening to him, vs the second scenario which illustrates possible scenarios. Yes tomorrow that player may go online and be griefed for an hour by a level 200 player, but until it happens, that is only a hypothetical scenario for that player. real life example: I COULD win the lottery. But the state I live in is not going to give me a dime of the money until I do. Therefore the scenario in which I have that money is not a reality for me. however, I am sure it has happened to others as there is no fool proof method to eliminate it. Just like in real life, bad people find ways to do bad things regardless of laws or systems in place.1 point

Just to add my experience to this thread. When I first played RDO (Opening weekend and for a few weeks after) I was griefed so bad I spent the entire time either trying to avoid randoms or being actively chased across the map by griefers. When R* implemented the parley system, it worked for about an hour and then I got chased by two guys on one horse. I'd parley with one only to have his buddy grief me. Parley'd with him and the first one timed out... rinse repeat. So I stopped playing, moved on to several different games and have now finally returned to RDO with the new anti-griefer system in play. When I want to 'be an outlaw' I run in offensive mode. When I want to just get some fishing, hunting or anything done without having to deal with people looking to ruin my playtime, I go into defencive mode. And I haven't really had an issue with griefers since. I get sniped on occasion, but the bullets miss/don't insta-kill me and I just ride away from the vapor trail. I haven't been hunted across the map like I'm an extra in The Hunger Games. I can actually enjoy the game and it's environ. Humans can be a-holes and defensive mode allows me to avoid that small but active group. This is a good thing in my eyes.1 point

I don't like to play the PvP modes in a game like RDR but glad to see they are providing enough variety for folks who do.1 point

Welcome new cowpokes!!! It was super fun to ride with such a large posse last night. Shame we scared off all the other players. As soon as I de-possed to log out I ran into two other groups! 'Bad dress day' : And how we looked the day before.. Welcome CCK! I can safely say I've had a blast with Major Dammidge and his posse. Not only am I learning tons but I've jumped from lvl12 to lvl26 in a couple of days! My schedule can be a little crazy too as I work full time and have family locally who I visit with. You are always welcome to holla if you see me online.1 point

I've noticed the frame rate drop when I went online today, but it's definitely gotten a little bit better. Maybe the game is just to powerful for the PS4, this game will run so much better on next gen consoles.1 point

I played two long sessions today and no blue screen! It may have been because I was on EU servers though, so will see when I log into a NA server later. So far so good though! Edit- Evening session went without a disconnect.1 point

I found this on a website. It's not from an official source mind you: I'll keep an eye out to see if I can get my hands on the real McCoy. btw, these sources indicate that these are just the initial details but R* will be publishing official patch notes soon. I guess we'll see. Usually you'll see them mentioned here: https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/tags/7161 point

For the same reason my wife doesn't like it when I finish "missions" too fast.1 point

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll see if anyone else has some data on the matter and then check in with that link. All in all, I might just stick with the character and hope they give us, at some point, at least one chance to redo their look. I couldn't get the mouth sliders to work at all in between crashes, so I just went with what I had. Update: I actually used the link you posted and found this link through that one: https://support.rockstargames.com/articles/360017439794/Deleting-Characters-in-Red-Dead-Online If anyone is considering starting over, you lose everything you've done/spent. Something to consider before deleting a character.1 point

I figured out the answer, you have to go to player menu/stables/specialty/story mission/ then choose your default horse. I guess the initial horse we get in the beginning is set as default but once we get rid of it we have to choose another horse to be the default for each type of mission if we don't we get the scrawny nag player menu/stable/speciality/story mission/set horse as default = no more issue1 point

I never really was into the Walking Dead actually. I liked the first two seasons, but after that I don't know it didn't really spark my interest. Which is a perfect example of taste preference. The show is scored amazing and tons of people seem to call it a really great show, but for some it's just not my type of show, I don't know, maybe I'll give it another go. We'll see.1 point

Personally, and I realize I may be in the minority, following the mini-map/pixel changes my desire for private lobbies has diminished quite a bit. Now, that griefers can't see potential victims across the map at a glance and actually have to go out in search of someone to harass, someone that can see the griefer coming from over a mile away, the need for private lobbies has not been as hot a topic for me. I like the fact that I can see the griefers before they can see me. I can usually avoid them now, or know when to prepare for a fight. Either way, I am not constantly looking over my shoulder at ever passing pink blip on the map. More importantly, I am meeting a lot of new friends in free roam that I never would have chanced talking with in the past. Blue Dot, check. Pelts, check. Waving friendly like, check. What do you know, they don't know where Gavin is either... I've only had one blue name player try to gank me in the last week. Rode by all casual like and then I watched his blip turn around back toward me and my ability card kept me from losing my head on the first shot. The next couple of shots made the other guy know what eating a couple of sawed off shotguns tastes like. The open world (free roam) feels more immersive to me now. I feel like I can hunt, fish, travel, do stranger missions, with a lot more confidence that I am not going to be griefed if I am careful. While, at the same time, still very aware that there are bad bastards out there that will get you if you're not careful and aware of your surroundings. It's not perfect. But man, I appreciate the steps they are trying to take.1 point
