  2. Hi Friends, I am half way through Chapter 4 and only just discovered how to Take Cover. A lot of the time, especially in major battles, I am totally confused and quickly killed. I am wondering whether I am too old at 75. Any other senior citizens enjoying RDR2 as much as I am? Sapper.

  3. In total, I actually heard discernible sounds from about 20 people over a 5 hour period, with the majority of those in PvP. All of the breathers and music players were in showdowns (2 hours on top of the 3 in free roam) and some of that time was in large showdown, so in the lobby (I think) you get to hear all 20+ people, certainly in non-team games - when you're split into teams, do you only hear your own team?. In fairness, once you take that out, free roam wasn't too bad an experience, considering that I spent a fair bit of the time in and around Valentine, and there was a reasonable amount of player traffic. Am I right in thinking they've reduced the general chat range? Once I heard someone on chat, I looked on the map to locate then and then approached, so that I could be sure what they were saying, for my research. Had I ridden on through, I think I would have gotten out of chat range pretty quickly. In summary: Most of the chat problem was in showdowns, and (when I wasn't busy restocking ammo or changing loadout) I would have time to mute noisy players individually; There wasn't a huge chat problem in free roam, but neither did anyone say anything that enhanced my experience. If I had a mind to, I might have been able to engage with the two guys talking about the actual game; Other than in the free roam event, there was nothing even approaching nastiness, and that guy was more mildly amusing/tedious than offensive. In conclusion, I didn't encounter anything terrible, but I literally, in 5 hours, heard nothing that enhanced my game experience. Maybe it's the Xbox. Maybe its the time I was playing (roughly 10pm-3am UK time). Seriously, I would love it if there was more constructive chat going on, and maybe I'll give it another go, but on that evidence, I'm not optimistic.

  4. @The_Liquor your also on a different console than @Harlock1796. I have not seen as much on PS4 either. Does that make a difference? Maybe.

  5. I don't bother looting the bodies either, even if you got them all it's like 4 bucks. I spend my time after a shootout picking up and dropping the dead bodies into the campfire. It sends a message (not quite sure what that message is) and makes the area smell lovely. I suggest you try it.

  6. So, In the spirit of scientific research, I have spent about 5 hours playing with no muting anyone, actually logging in a little book what player interaction I got. About 3 hours was freeroam (including one King of the Castle event), and the rest were showdowns - a combination of various lone wolf and team games. I can report my findings as follows: People whose names occasionally appeared as in chat, but largely inaudible: about 6 - 10 - some came and went so quickly I wasn't sure whether they were different people Loud breathers: 4 Loud music: 6 (mainly crappy, but with one Rolling Stones track to mitigate the situation) Whiny Kid arguing with his mum about his chores: 1 Players talking to someone else not in game: 3 Trash talker: 1 (self proclaimed master of King of the Castle (he wasn't)) People actually talking to each other in game: 4 (2 sets of 2) 1 pair just general daily chat, one pair (freeroam) actually talking about what mission/hunting they would do next, and commenting on passers by. People talking tactics in a team PvP match: Zero, out of 6 matches played Now, that is just a snapshot of what I saw last night. I wish it was different, and that there was actually either some wild west interaction or team tactical talk going on, but there wasn't, as far as I saw. Thanks for telling me how to play the game 😜, but I think I'll stick to my original plan.

  8. I think The Blue Hare Crew has a super-achiever. Railroad Baron, one one of the newest PVP events we encountered today and knew nothing about. Only three of us were in the Posse at the time and we captured three of the first six spots. Almost the entire field was at higher levels, that our rider, including one above 200, yet @N7Creed dominated. A special shout-out must go to @WhiskeySour for his finish and supporting role in ensuring victory for @N7Creed

  11. I was about to log in and should have no goldto start today as I used it all last night, as I log in I get my daily bonus for levels completed the day before, I get 2 gold bars, so ok, cool. I get in and have 2.34 I think, something like that. before it was over I made and spent 11.5 gold bars. My daily challenges hit day 21 today, and my multiplier went up to 2.5!!! So just doing the daily challenges I could have made 3.5 gold bars, I get .5 gold bars for each daily challenge I complete now for the next week, then it goes up again. I did 5 of them, so 2.5 bars, plus the 2 bars I got when logging in, thats 4.5 gold bars, the rest I earned doing stranger missions and letting the clock go to 30 seconds, I did 8 to 10 of them, plus several hideouts, a few ambushes, a couple encounters, etc... I hunted the whole time as I was trying to level up two new ability cards I am going to run, one of them needs less than 900 xp points to go to tier 3, and that means I made just under 25000xp all together. I played from 10:30 am til around 4. I have a nice system right now with this bonus, I am going to go back in later and try to hit a whole other level, I need like 900 to hit 123, so I want to then hit 124 before I log off if I can, so tomorrow Ill start with 3 bars, plus daily challenges. It was the most productive day I have had yet with both xp and gold. I can almost count on 5 gold bars a day if I keep leveling up 2 levels a day. Funny thing is I am only using gold on my guns and I am nearly done with them all, but thats what I did, I made my dual sawed off shotguns a combo of black and gold today, I dont even use them much anymore lol but I figured until all my guns are done, this is all need gold for. I think now I am going to use the remainder of the daily challenge bonus for the cougar saddle I need. Anyway, point is, this is a great time to be leveling up in RDR2O. If you are just getting started or you have been around, its a great time to log in everyday and even if you just do one daily challenge you can get the bonus, and it adds up.

  12. The one aspect of using a mike that seems to have been missed is that not all people playing RDR2 speak the same language. Myself, I play with a lot of people in Brazil, they speak Portuguese, I play with people in Quebec, they speak French, I play with people in Libya, they speak Arabic, having a mute mike makes sense.

  14. A few years ago I might have been interested but to be honest, I only ever play the campaign in these types of game and the "on rails" action just doesn't appeal to me these days. I prefer open or semi-open game worlds. I can't stand their twitch-like multiplayer where it's more about people running and gunning rather than tactics. For my "realistic", tactical, PVP and co-op shooter fix, I'm waiting for Insurgency Sandstorm also releasing this year. I loved GRW and how they went back to being more modern than "advanced" or "future". I didn't like Ghost Wars because of the way they abandoned what made the core gameplay of GRW so good. Instead, they followed the typical playbook of other popular shooters and included classes, higher TTK, special abilities, various markers, tech, etc. ....and the drones / radar marking was over the top IMO / IME. They were also too stubborn to include a hardcore mode in PvP forcing everyone into a "one size fits all" Quick Match. .....and the Custom Match was a half hearted attempt to appease their HC fanbase as it didn't even include public lobbies until more than a year later when everyone left. Even then, it still was poorly executed. The campaign / co-op was relatively untouched though which was just fine in my book as that was the best part of the game. Fast forward to GRB's announcement and we see that not only have they integrated the campaign/ co-op into PvP but also all of the elements of it including classes and other RPG components. ....and they not only included more drones and tech but they doubled down on it. The TTK also seems to have increased as you are now fighting machines and heavily armored, mini gun wielding targets, etc. GR is seemingly moving toward a Division-like game. They seemed to have listened to some of the feedback to include a few requested mechanics / items but then totally ignored the rest. The mood on GRB forum is a far cry from the general excitement and enthusiasm I remember in the GRW forum when that game was under development. I'll cross my fingers that GRB isn't as bad as I think it is. Hopefully we'll learn more during E3. .....but Ubi may have just killed off another franchise for me.

  15. Like I said before... I’m not going to win this one. But I’m tired of all the psycho-mutes.. @Harlock1796... I don’t know if I’m just lucky or what, but your little three hour log sounds like an exaggeration of every encounter I’ve had since playing RDR... I’m not saying you are exaggerating, but I’m just not hearing this and my mic is on 24/7 while I’m on.

  16. October 4 now I wish they'd fix their pre-order page, i've been trying all week to get it ordered. As far as Call of Duty I haven't played since Black Ops 2. Like @DylBandit i got bored of the same crap over and over, and i suck at the pvp mode so that's no fun for me I have no desire to look at this new release.

  17. OmG I have created a monster, the savage little killer I would love to be, evidenced by your ownership of the title Charter Railroad Baron Champion mere hours after its introduction and release. As poorly educated bluegrass players taught their children and grandchildren the culture and music playing abilities of bluegrass, Christian religion was inextricably woven and is still abundant in the art form. That said, Font Range excelled. Four high school music teachers were the players who formed Front range Range. Sadly, their tenor singer/mandolin player died of cancer in his forties and the group was no more. I think I have their entire collection in my stored MP3s.

  19. Phrasing! Being able to say, "I looked a dead body" is a FANTASTIC icebreaker at a party. If people shun you, they're squares. If they gravitate towards you, they're your kind of people, and usually know the best places to ditch said current party for a real party. False. It generates an APB.

  21. Personally, I don’t mind them trying to make a little money. You want to play you have to pay. It’s like that in absolutely every hobby I’ve ever had. At least here it’s (so far) pretty optional. It might change, it might not. But I don’t expect them to keep supporting and upgrading and paying for programmers, servers, infrastructure etc. out of pure generosity. i know I generally don’t run around offering my work and services for free.

  22. GPNVG-18s mounted on a boonie hat? SMH 🙄 Those things weigh a pound and a half and that's not including a power source that would add even more weight, meaning Price just turning his head would result in his hat and NODs falling off.

  23. I went ahead and deleted the last post from this thread. I think @DylBandit would agree that the topic is being blown way out of proportion by some and we certainly don't need this to steer into a political argument or politically aimed insults as that was never the intention. There was nothing in the creation of this thread meant to insult American Indians / Native Americans. .....quite the opposite actually.

  24. Again, in Free Roam, meh, thats your choice, do it, dont do it, I think you are missing out but whatever BUT in pvp team games, I feel like, why are these people here? how can they expect to do well if they dont even try to play as a team? Now I get it some people play with friends, so yeah you are working together, just not with me and the other public solos in the room, and thats where I think you should at least try it. I met a few people in pvp playing in blackwater, the territory game, and they were really into winning, lol so when joined their team, they immediately talked to me, said "Hey Lumper, lets go!! lets get them" stuff like that and I just followed the guy talking, and man was it fun, plus we won, a lot. I just think if you are going to play those team games it would be so much better if more people at least tried to communicate is all. The one or two times I heard bad music, mouth breathing, etc... I muted that player, it took one second, and the rest of the room could hear me, so when I had encounters, they were mostly good, not all, I had a few griefers who werent sympathetic lol, but they didnt talk into their mics untiil I talked to them, they had them on and just muted their end, but were listening. Also, often when a person walked toward me and I thought, "uh oh here we go" a whole bunch of times I was able to defuse it with my mic, just by talking to them and saying stuff like, hey, back up, I see you, you dont need to get any closer man, seriously Im warning ya, I see your weapon ready to go, I have a dyno arrow lit, I dont want to splat you but if you dont leave me any other choice I will... stuff like that lol and it works. I made a few friends like that, lol. I see a player waving, I talk to them, hey whats up? hows it going? sometimes they put on their mic other times they wave, then ride off, but they heard me.

  25. I use a mic everytime the whole time, do you know how many toxic players I have heard? Seriously in 122 levels how many would you think? The answer is none, not one, zero!! I never, ever hear anyone ever! LOL this is so irritating, what is everyone afraid of? I think it makes it harder to wrong people or act like a jerk or rush someone else's 99% cleared hideout and start looting their bodies, if you are also talking to them and can hear them and are also talking back, I think it makes people behave a little better when they can hear your voice. I know this to be true because I started using a mic to stop some of the griefing, and it actually worked., I also made some good friends, and a few people who were acting stupid later felt really bad, explained their point of view I understood and they went and hunted with me and brought me carcasses to the butcher to help me out after killing me and my horse and all because we chatted, we didnt scream and yell and swear at each other, we were civil, and as matter of fact. If you dont use a mic at all , I truly believe you are missing out, Maybe you had a bad experience, or in other games but I am telling you 100% I swear on my kids, I have not had one single toxic encounter on the mic. Now, in pvp, yeah you get smack talkers, But they arent toxic, they are just getting into the competitive nature of the game, and I love it!! Because when I get into a territory game and at least one other player uses his mic, we can coordinate and each time this happens, we dominate, because we are organized, and we work together. Even if the rest of our team doesnt, the two of us together can take territories and move on quickly and almost every time our team starts working with us too, indicating they hear us, they just arent talking. Anyway seriously I strongly encourage you to at least try it in PVP, you dont want it in free roam, sure no worries that is your time, But hen you join a team based game, and we need to work together, you are handicapping your whole team by ignoring them and not working together, to me, why bother playing a team game if you refuse to play with your team? Not you specifically of course, I just mean anyone, I am so tired of playing those team games because of this simple fact, too many people play like lone wolves, no team work at all and I hate to lose because of other people, I just wont play. I wish they made it required, Mic or you cant join period, disco or mute your mic and the game kicks you, it would put an end to it and make the game soo much better

  26. I get what you mean. There is tons of potential to have things tastefully done in a respectable way, and I don't think anybody is worried that Rockstar would foul it (as pointed out by their perfect execution of calling attention to it in the story without showing it) but unfortunately there's a portion of the playerbase that will abuse it like they have other minorities and the suffragettes already available in the game. If they add things Indigenous themed items and cosmetics, I'd probably purchase them, but that fear of seeing it exploited by certain players is still very much there, so on the other hand, I'll be fine if they don't bother adding it. I really would love some high honour stranger missions from Wapiti though, like I said earlier. I can see you're passionate about the culture (it really is a beautiful thing and not all the "savagery" that early western depictions portrayed) so you might be interested in this new game in development called "This Land is My Land". It focuses on the "other side" (Indigenous lifestyle) as the white people moved in. They just released their newest trailer a week ago: Gameplay: Website: https://www.thislandmyland.com/

  28. That is a weird problem, don't disband it though. If you set it to open they still can't join? Just let it work itself out. However once you do have it working, you can only have a set amount of people join (i think its like 20 or something). Once that list is full you can't have anybody else join until you remove some people. Set it to open and see if your friends or whoever can join then. If you can't invite somebody it could mean they joined the max amount of possies (don't know what the max is). Just like total members they won't be able to join until they remove some of the permanent possies they have joined.

  29. Headshots and shotguns. I’d suggest playing some PVP modes for awhile, if for no other reason than to practice you combat skills. Try to focus on modes that allow you to respawn and get back into the fray. It’s really one of those things that you just need to practice it starts to click with you.

  30. I find I usually need to mute general chat to avoid: the mouth breathers; the idiots playing their bad music; and the people having a dull conversation with someone else in the background. I do regret that this means that I am probably missing out on people who actually want to interact as part of the game.

  31. It's a lot to do with using the right gun in the right situation. Unfortunately the carbine repeater is pretty crappy, so if you're low level you are at a real disadvantage until you unlock something better. As soon as you unlock a shotgun, buy one. At close range you will one shot anyone with standard ammo. The bolt action is a very effective rifle (even though I don't like it because it isn't cowboy enough for my taste), so getting that will make a big difference. A couple of revolvers for versatile mid range complete a sensible loadout. I don't see a massive difference in performance, so as soon as you can have an offhand holster a second cattleman is fine. Freeroam events can be a bit of a kill frenzy. Until you get more comfortable, find somewhere in cover and take targets of opportunity. And watch the minimap. But yes, headshots are a vital part of the game if you want to kill other players.
