  1. I pretty much lost an entire weekend of play over the camp issues. All I wanted to do was spend Saturday afternoon filling up Cripps materials and supplies and let him go to work. No dice. Camp kept crashing, kicking me out of the game. I spent literally hours trying to get the camp to respawn. But all I would ever get, besides absolutely no response, was a note saying Cripps had packed my camp back up, over and over again. At one point, the camp finally said it spawned and showed on the map only a little ways from me. I rode over to it quickly and just as it came into view, it moved. Well, half of it moved. The campfire, the Flag, the cook pot, and one random table with chair remained in place. Everything else moved to a totally different region half the map away. The only thing I could do to fix it is log out and try again. Two hours later, still no camp. So, I played a little poker, ran a few bounty missions, collected collectibles and stayed busy while I continued over and over again to get a camp set up but to no avail. Sunday was just more of the same. I was so frustrated with the game by Sunday noon that I just logged out and didn't play for the rest of the weekend. Doubt I will log in tonight. I just don't have time to waste on stupid sh*t.
  2. Exactly. And truthfully, all kidding aside, it bothers me too. I have been a hunter since I was old enough to hold a rifle. I have been taught by my grandfather, taught by his grandfather, to have respect, thankfulness (for their sacrifice) and yes, even compassion for the animals we hunt. You never let an animal suffer. My grandfather would get quite angry if you missed the "kill" shot and the animal went running. We would track it as far as necessary to make sure the animal wasn't laying somewhere suffering. And when necessary, a mercy kill was not something that you took your time with. One motion, quick, over. Respect. While I know it's only a game and pixels don't bleed or feel pain it still rubs me the wrong way as it goes against my moral character to stand back and watch (and listen to) an animal suffer. Clearly R* knows this too. That's why you take an honor hit if you let them bleed out. So, while my original point about the women in my life being unhappy about it is true, it's also true that it bothers me. Not enough to make me quit the game, of course. But enough to beg the question; Why didn't R* build in a method to allow us to cleanly end the suffering without damaging the pelt? It seems to me to be more of an oversight than anything. Like others have said, I'm pretty sure this was in the single player game. Either that or there just wasn't as many animals running after being shot and I just didn't notice it as much. Don't know. Anyway, I was just hoping someone had a method that I was missing. No worries...
  3. /Freudian slip... eheheh
  4. I would like to propose a wagon with a wench on it. Maybe around Trader level 25 or 30. This wagon wench would allow you to hoist Big Game such as Grizzly Bears, Cow Elks, Moose, perhaps even Bison up into your wagon so that you can take a complete carcass of these animals back to Cripps for cleaning. Just sayin...
  5. First, please forgive me if I am missing something. But, to my knowledge there is no way to perform a mercy kill on an animal that has been shot but is only slowly bleeding out. If you do nothing, the animal will eventually die, but only after it has lingered for several minutes, moaning and thrashing, and your upset wife and daughter leave the room and don't want to speak to you anymore because of your heartless cruelty and lack of compassion for pixels. And I have to admit, I hate waiting around and listening to the slow death, as well. Or, you can shoot them again or stab them to finish them off quickly and end the "horror". But my experience has been that either option almost always results in a decrease in the quality of the pelt or carcass afterward. Like hell, am I letting that happen. So, is it just me? Am I missing some method of Mercy Killing that would keep the women in my home from looking at me as if I am a monster and at the same time preserve the quality of the kill? If so, please share. My marriage may depend on it. If not, has anyone seen anything from R* as to why it isn't a feature in the game? It seems to me to be something that should have been included from the beginning. Thoughts?
  6. I have nothing constructive to add. But I wanted to join you guys in saying that this "feature" in RDRO is extremely frustrating. I road around for two hours the other night trying to hunt and saw almost nothing the whole time. And this was in a prime hunting area. And this, btw, is the other thing that I find very annoying. Some areas and regions have constant wildlife to hunt, or at least usually does. Places like the Big Valley, up on the north end. Lots there to hunt. Then you go down to say New Austin or around Armadillo and there is literally next to nothing to hunt, 90% of the time. Sure, I don't expect to see deer everywhere, elk, wolves, etc. They don't really fit the region. But to also have almost no Boar, Rams, Prongs, cougars, or really anything else... hell, I haven't seen a cougar in free roam down there in months. Rockstar needs to seriously look into the balancing of animal spawns in the game. Top to bottom. My opinion.
  7. A very sensible approach. I applaud you, sir.
  8. I'm going to preface this with the disclaimer that i am NOT talking about anyone in particular, here on these forums or elsewhere. But it is very comical/sad watching all of these folks "grind" through all of the content as fast as possible, to unlock every feature and reward, before everyone else... and then spend the next 6 months complaining because they are bored with it and expect R* to have the next update ready to go, NOW! (and it's R*s fault that they ran out of content) I'm not bored, I'm in no hurry. I hunt and trade for a while, go catch a bounty or two, stop by the saloon and play a few hands of poker, maybe go find a treasure, clear a few camps if I spot them, craft a bit at camp and pet the dog... etc. I guess, I just don't get the need to "grind" and certainly don't get "grinding" to "complete" everything as soon as humanly possible. It just seems so very counter to "fun". As for me, it will take me probably months to complete all three roles. And I am absolutely, 100% fine with that. Obviously, ymmv.
  9. Well, my Evans still seems to load faster than it used to, but not nearly as fast as it was after the big update. I mostly noticed it during walking and riding. After the big update my character was walking so fast you couldn't tell what, if any, walk style was being used. After yesterday's patch I am walking much slower again. Still not as slow as I was before the summer update, but a lot slower than before yesterday's patch. After the update, I felt like everything was on double time. I commented on it at the time (not a big fan) but now it seems like they went back and slowed it back down some. Like they went from a Speedx2 (after the summer update) to a Speedx0.5 (after yesterday's patch) Faster. But not double time. Is it just me? I'm only asking because it was a very noticeable change to me and I figured it would be a big topic here after everyone patched. When I didn't see anyone else talking about it, it just made me wonder if I am the only one. lol
  10. So, after yesterday's unscheduled patch it appears that many things have slowed back down again. Seems faster than "it" was before the update but much slower than what we saw immediately following the update last week. I am thankful for the minor roll back. Now... Am I imagining it? What other changes has anyone else picked up on from yesterday's emergency patch?
  11. I completed the first 3 Legendary Bounties solo. The first one seemed to pay out the best. What I found a bit odd is that I turned in the bounty Dead the first two times but on the 3rd, 3* difficulty, I was actually able to capture her alive and still made less cash than the first run I did at the 1* difficulty. Weird. Maybe I just missed something. But it will be interesting next week to see if the new bounty pays out similarly. I attempted the 4* difficulty solo as well. That didn't go so well. It was late so I didn't go after a second attempt. Maybe tonight...
  12. Bait Dog - Is that the one that ... I see this dog barking at me in the middle of nowhere. I have a Lassie flashback. "Oh no! Timmy's fallen down the well! Lassie, go find help, boy!" So, off I go following this dog which clearly wants me to follow it. Stopping now and again to make sure I haven't gotten lost. I just know I am on the trail of some heroic deed in need of doing! Stops for about the 3rd or 4th time, in a secluded clearing with some boulders around... Ok, boy. What is it you wanted me to find here..?
  13. Hrm... maybe she was moving at that point?? I dunno. She's always been there for me when I needed to find her. /shrug Sorry.
  14. I tried to move my camp the other day and it wouldn't let me for like 5 minutes. Kept saying my camp was under attack! A few minutes later I was able to move it and nothing seemed amiss but who knows... very odd.
  15. You can find her on your map on any given day by simply invoking the Index list when you visit the full map. She will be listed in the Index and you can click on her name to have her highlighted on your map. Beats searching for 20 minutes up and down the map. As for me, I am enjoying all three. The Collector will just happen over time. The Bounty Hunter is what I most want to work on. But the Trader takes a crap load of time and effort to keep both Supplies and Material in good supply. My original plan was to grind, grind, grind, out all three. But now, after playing it awhile, I think I am more interested in just taking my time with all three. And let the best role for me just kind of play itself out. Frankly, I just want to get BH high enough to be able to go after PC bounties. For me, that's when the fun really kicks in.
  16. I could be wrong, but I see a point in the story coming where our "good friend the Marshal" is on the hunt for a grieving widow who's gone on a murder spree to avenge her dead husband.... so, now what do you do? *SPOILER* Do the mission twice and get both positive and negative honor depending. (my guess)
  17. I do not like most of the sped up settings now in the game. I like the faster weapon reloads, mounting horses, and looting I guess. What I don't like is the much faster walking, running, riding, moving, aiming, etc. It seems like they just went to a master switch of some kind and said "double speed on everything". Someone said it above, and I heard someone else say it yesterday too. The game feels a lot more Arcade-ish. What attracted me to RDO2 in the first place was the more immersive nature of just interacting with the world and "feeling" like you're out on the range, living the life of an outlaw. You know, Roleplaying. It feels like, (and I know, we're only 3 days in) but it feels like the game is more closely related to Mario Cart now, than to an immersive MMORPG. At least in terms of mechanics. I suppose I will get used to it. But I don't much like it. (To me HuDawg, this seems like a PVP focused speed play, more than anything) As for the rest, I'm a big fan. The new roles and encounters and all of that are so much fun! Where are the other Dog breeds?!?!? I want an Aussie!
  18. Rank 94 (slow considering been playing since launch) Gold 165 Cash $1700 Have pretty much everything I want or need, atm. Saving the rest for this week's update. Don't forget that Jewelry is getting a reward increase update. Save your Jewelry to turn in after the update!
  19. The only folks who ever really complain about how long these things take are those folks who have never coded an once of code in their lives. Those who have, tend to just sit back and hope they catch all of the new bugs this new code is going to cause, and encourage them to take their time with it. The fewer bugs the better. I'm looking forward to this update. Not sure on the whole "Roles" thing. But definitely excited to see all the new changes!
  20. There always seems to be enough grumbling about this or that in the game. Last night, I enjoyed a nearly perfect evening so, I thought I would share. I spawned into Saint Denis without much thought about what the night would hold, except I knew I had a brand new treasure map that I had just won upon turning 80. My only real goal for the evening was to take it easy and go collect on the treasure. So, I spawn in, head over to the Mail Station to pick up my catalog purchases and stock up on ammo, etc. when suddenly... "YOU HAVE BEEN TARGETED FOR ASSASSINATION" I've seen this movie before, so I jump on my horse immediately and head straight out of town, in the opposite direction from the bright red dot and at full speed. I get caught in the marshes and the assassin is eventually able to catch up to me with about 2 minutes left on the timer. He fires at me while riding at full speed and misses. Then I hit a fallen log on the side of the road and go head first into the dirt. He's got me, dead to rights. As I am slowly picking myself back up, he's right on top of me. And then foolishly, he decides to lasso me instead of just shoot me dead. I break the lasso immediately, ignore the horse, and make like I am going to take off running by jumping into the trees and bushes beside the road. His second mistake, he takes the bait and rides full ahead into the trees and brush behind me. Only, I'm not really running. I've drawn both sawed off shotguns and he rides right into them. Bang, Bang, Dead. I see him respawn and head back in my direction, but by then, I am long gone and he's out of time. Victory. So, back to my treasure hunt... it's half way across the country, now. Off I go. Only, there's a poker game going on in Flatneck Station which is on my rout. So, I might as well stop in and play a few hands. First couple, I lose a little or fold out. Then I get a great Hand, Aces over Kings, same suit. I win the big pot and and have almost 40 dollars on the table. Settle up. Take my leave with a smile and head out back for treasure. Victory. I finally get to the area where the treasure is supposed to be and there's a random encounter there. A young lady's horse has died, stranding her in the desert. Of course, I offer to help. It's an ambush! I have to fight my way clear of a a couple of dozen attackers in 2-3 waves. But they're no match for me and I enjoy looting each and every one. Victory. I finally get to the treasure and discover $150 bucks plus a few trinkets. Victory! As I am riding out, the young lady from before is back. Same dead horse. Same sob story. Only this time, she isn't playing me and really needs a ride. So, I take her to meet her brother at the Fort, drop her off and collect the reward. Victory. I thought about playing a bit more, but it was a work night and everything had been so much fun and had worked out in my favor at every turn, so I just took it as a "perfect evening" that didn't need me hanging around to get spoiled. And I logged out, very happy with my evening adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed the night. I hope my little tale didn't bore anyone too much and if you read this far, thank you. I hope you guys all have great nights like these as well, just not when you're coming after me. Cheers!
  21. Poor Cripps. Just can't get a break. Finally gets a woman to come to camp and here you come like a third wheel...
  22. I always loot. Not a hog while in a group, mind you. But I do loot everything I can. The rings and necklaces add up. Dynamite drops are fairly common now. I have received more than a few maps. And while the nickles and dimes aren't all that impressive, I have reset the loot progression badge at least a couple of times now for additional bonuses. What I find frustrating (sometimes) is in the cooperative missions, when you kill all the baddies and then someone immediately runs up to the next mission story trigger and stops everyone from looting before the next cut scene and mission step. It's like, couldn't you have waited 5 minutes for everyone to loot before you pressed "go" again? Besides, the longer we take the better xp we will receive in the end anyway. /sigh Anyway, not saying it's worth it. But close enough for me to keep doing it. lol
  23. Best Foods for weight management/nutrition - Cheese Wedge - Good bump to Health and Deadeye cores with fortification - doesn't make you fat. (as fast) Chocolate Bar - Good bump to Stamina and Deadeye cores - doesn't make you fat. (as fast) Raw Carrot - Good bump to all cores - doesn't make you fat. (as fast) Good for your horse when out of oatcakes too! Prime Steaks (Buffalo) - Puts weight on fast! - Hop servers every 4-5 pieces you eat. You'll be a fat@ss quick! Minty, Oregano, Thyme, Big Game Meats - Use only for competitive events for the Core fortifications they provide - Will make you fat! Alcohol - Lots, and lots, of Alcohol. And Cigars! To round out the occasional top off on Dead eye and Stamina. If you stick to Cheese Wedges, Chocolate Bars, Cigars and Alcohol you will be able to maintain the right weight that you want pretty easily and still keep your cores pretty close to max at all times. I believe cheese, Guarma Rum, Chocolate bars and Carrots provide the best overall core replenishment for the money without dramatically increasing your weight like prime beef and big game meats, which should be used only for targetted situations where you may need the additional perks or weight gain. Canned foods, biscuits, salted meats, etc. are all pretty much a waste of money, time and calories. They simply do not provide enough core replenishment or fortification to be worth saving and eating. You have to eat too much of it to actually provide any worthwhile replenishment. Next week, on the Chuck Wagon Hour with Cripps McGee ... "How to bone filet a Steel Head Trout." (Disclaimer - this is just from memory (at work) and may not be 100% factual)
  24. I don't know... I think it would be a sad day if all of the griefers went away or just stopped griefing all together. Not saying it's going to happen. But just hypothetically, I think it would make for a sad Red Dead World to not have at least some chronically bad hombres running around keeping things interesting. The other day, I really got my butt handed to me by a guy that was clearly a veteran griefer. He killed me at least 5 times before we went our separate ways. (I think he got bored killing me over and over lol) I usually hold my own relatively well. But he was better and caught me at a time when I was not really at my best. Which is fine. I didn't parley, or press charges, or run. I just kept getting punished. eheh. Point being, I was a little mad, a lot frustrated and more than a little embarrassed. But in hindsight, I learned a trick or two from it and it certainly made my night a lot more interesting. If I had to make a choice, I would not trade the other night for a completely care bear world. What can I say, I thrive on conflict.
