I remember discussing it, but the article seemed to give some credence to it. I sincerely hope they can get it done. As someone who purchased GTA V on XB1, PS4 and PC, I would have loved to play my character across all platforms. We're going to look back on this someday and realize just how silly closed networks truly were.

According to this GameRant article, there are rumors floating around that the delay to RDR2 might possibly have been caused by an inability to get Sony on board with cross-platform play. https://gamerant.com/red-dead-redemption-2-delay-cross-play/ These are just rumors at this point, but it's an interesting article nonetheless, considering we haven't heard much from Rockstar.

I'm sure they will incorporate all sorts of transportation, and perhaps even introduce automobiles, considering the game takes place in the early 1900's. A carriage is probably nowhere near the level of sophistication I just mentioned, but I definitely think there will be carriages. Specifically, I think if Rockstar wants to extend the longevity of their online game mode, they're going to have to add all sorts of steampunk-type vehicles and contraptions. I hate to say it, but maybe more like the technology in Will Smith's Wild Wild West? Cringey, I know, but this would be for online only.

Except if you live in the Southern hemisphere.

I bought the entire Max Payne bundle for $16. I was hoping to pick up Rise of the Tomb Raider for cheap on the day the sale started, but it wasn't on sale. So I immediately said 'fuck it' and went to G2A to pick it up for $30. However, the next day it was on sale for $23! I hate myself now.

Ohhhh! Thanks for reminding me. I have a few games in my Wishlist I'm waiting to purchase. :3

Considering Sony recently decided to not take part in cross-platform play with Minecraft and Rocket League, it's clear that there's commercial interests at stake. Why would they want to "help" any other platform? However, it's been rumored that Rockstar is trying push for it, and although some say it's unlikely, I ultimately think Rockstar has a better chance of convincing Sony its worth it. Here's the article I read: http://comicbook.com/gaming/2017/06/16/rumour-red-dead-redemption-2-cross-play-support-being-discussed/

I'm definitely angry about the situation. I made a thread about it earlier, and it appears that GTA V on Steam is getting hit hard with negative reviews. That said, there's certainly a grey area concerning mods, but because most publishers have turned a blind eye to it, malicious content can go unpunished. Now, I'm not suggesting that publishers should be selling mods at all (We all know how that went down with Bethesda), but I am suggesting that maybe mods need to be officially supported. As an example, I play Cities: Skylines on Steam with officially sanctioned mods using the Steam Workshop, all for FREE. Some are scripts, assets, textures, etc. That's a policy I'd like to see embraced by more publishers. Personally, I've only modded GTA V textures for clothing and vehicles, but will I continue to support modding under any circumstances.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Will Be What Defines The “New” Rockstar
X S replied to NewsBot's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
Yeah, I guess I should've been more specific, but I just hope this doesn't lead to them abandoning resources on the single-player element of their games. The recent fiasco with GTA's DLC and their attitude concerning PC mods certainly isn't reassuring. -
I don't think so, because OpenIV is literally a lock and key to the game files, which opens the door to all types of mods. For now, there's ways around it, but the principle of it is quite alarming since T2 is officially deciding to take a stand against mods. OpenIV was also developing a port of GTA IV's Liberty City into GTA V, and I can only assume that this specifically is what they deemed a threat to their inability to capitalize on it themselves.
-
This just in, but a cease-and-desist letter was received by the developer(s) of OpenIV, one of the most significant tools used for modding GTA and Max Payne on PC. This means that Take Two is taking an official stance against modding, which further spells doom for any future Rockstar games on PC and the inability to modify them. It's a sad day for many of Rockstar's loyal fanbase.

Could the delay be due to the Xbox One X?
X S replied to YellowDragon's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
Just to reaffirm my earlier statement about the game only being as good as the PS4 Pro can manage, it looks like this may be the case. In a recent interview with Phil Spencer, he acknowledged that there "may be" clauses that force parity of fidelity, but that he's fundamentally against it, of course because it would effectively cap some games on the 'X'. There's rumors floating around that Destiny 2 was capped at 30 FPS not only because of this, but also because the original XB1 needs to be given consideration. Sony's Jim Ryan: http://www.vg247.com/2017/06/14/sonys-jim-ryan-isnt-worried-about-xbox-one-xs-power-game-devs-more-likely-to-aim-for-lowest-common-denominator/ Phil Spencer: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/e3-2017-phil-spencer-talks-xbox-one-x-potentially-/1100-6450916/ All in all, I don't suspect any platform really has any leverage to force this sort of policy with Rockstar, and in fact, it's Rockstar that calls the shots and maintains the parity. .......please be a PC version on release, please be a PC version.. -
Red Dead Redemption 2 Will Be What Defines The “New” Rockstar

Read the OP article yesterday, and then started reading gripes about GTA Online's newest DLC this morning: -
Ah yes, I think GTA IV had something similar, now that I remember. After the date, a cut scene would render and you'd hear Niko fu*king Michelle's brains out.
-
A huge improvement from the 360. The d-pad has a tactile and clicky feel, unlike the 360's. Also, the triggers are super soft w/ minimum resistance, so very good for racing games. Other than that, you'll just have to get used to the bumpers. There in an odd position.

As someone who owns a 6700K/GTX1070 combo PC, the price point is impressive if it can maintain native 4K@60 on most major titles. This has yet to be confirmed for any games other than Forza 7, but for the sake of comparison, my current PC will render 4K, however not without limitations, ie. lowering graphical settings, lower framerates, etc. And keep in mind, my PC cost me at least $800 for the CPU and GPU alone, not including other components. So this is why I think the $499 price point is competitive, especially if you trade in your current XB1 for it; then you're effectively looking at $400. There's articles about comparing it to an RX580, but even then it's difficult to compare numbers exclusively because the console is a dedicated gaming APU. Whereas, the PC has dedicated components. We won't know until we can truly test the hardware in-hand. Either way, I'll be picking one up as an upgrade to my ugly VCR-style XB1.

I actually think playing as a gambling high-class gal like Kate from 'Tombstone' would be interesting. But also, it's a difficult sell to add a female protagonist in RDR and GTA because of the politically contentious nature of doing so. Again, I'm totally open to it, but let's do so out of creativity, not necessity. TL;DR: Don't add females to the game just for the sake of adding them. Do it because you think it adds value to the storyline or gameplay.

X S replied to YellowDragon's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
Like shawn said, I'm pretty sure they develop games in 4K, and then scale them down for hardware limitations. Moreover, I can't see Rockstar giving preferential treatment to one console. They're one of those few companies that try to maintain parity on every console, less PC, so chances are the game will look only as good as the PS4 Pro can manage. But who knows... I'd like to see a full 4K version on the XB1X, but certainly don't expect it. -

Sony's conference is Monday night. I doubt we'll see anything from them, though. It just seems like R* has been releasing things about the game on their own timeline. -
I know you from GTAF. You used to post in the Gaming section sometimes.

Sup? You're not the only one.

I'd like to see this as an answer to the GTA:O strip club, but I think it depends on whether it violates PSN or XBL's ToS, no? I remember people complained about no nudity in the online version of the strip club, so not sure what changed. This kowtowing may be true of other developers, but I certainly can't see Rockstar ever trying appease these sort of groups.

Considering that continual content is a big part of GTA Online, I'd like to see comparable assets, such as ranches you could own and possibly have to cultivate in order to build your own "empire" of sorts. I'd also like to see it have a different tone in terms of reality so that you could own fictional horses, such as the Four Horsemen horses from Undead Nightmare. Chrome horses? No lol, but I would be open to a unicorn.
