Is there a way to manage hackers in 2025 on PC?
Kean_1 replied to gsamson24's topic in Red Dead Online
There is a way to do it on PS5 with the MTU settings. Doesn't work as well in RDO and in GTAO.its now a moot point considering the option was added for invite-only that included all access. -
Yes. In fact, I rented a server for our small group. We played it as a PvE co-op. .....us against zombies. I was able to change some of the game files to change aspects of the game in regard to spawns, etc. We did play PvP and while that was fun at first when it initially launched on PS4, it quickly devolved into everyone for themselves. ....but PvE was fun. The game had issues though especially with the cars and lag due to the way they were implemented / controlled. I think they finally fixed that so they work like how they do in Reforger.

I have. It's an intense game with a steep learning curve. It's on the milsim end of the spectrum. Many end up dying several times before they ever get a chance to kill someone or maybe even see the enemy. If you're used to games like ARMA, it will be a lot easier to adapt to this one. You can't just run & gun. There is a lot of "stop, look and listen", using cover and concealment, working as a team, etc. To be honest, I tried to get into it but all my friends got too frustrated and gave up. .....and we're all used to playing milsim games like ARMA Reforger and DayZ. If they had co-op against AI, it might be a different story but as it is, you're often pitted against people who are already familiar with the game and are effective. Your best bet is to find folks you can team up with who are willing to show you the ropes and who you can learn from.

The game obviously has a dedicated fanbase and could have easily improved that with even a portion of the support they show GTAV, but alas..... RDR2/O was a big success for R* and would have been an even larger "feather-in-the-cap" for most other developers. Why they chose not to expand further on it and pull nearly all support while they work on GTA6 is beyond me. .....but then RDR1 was also never fully nurtured either. I was always hoping for a Red Dead Nightmare 2 or at least an enhanced edition for PS5/XB among other things. -

Well, until they add the option for unrestricted "invite-only" sessions like they finally did on GTAV, I really don't see how to avoid others if you're looking to play the full RDO experience. ...but I'm on PS5 and not PC so there may be something you can do that I'm not aware of. -
I play GT7 almost daily for a race or two. 1-2 times a week I get together with my online friends and we usually play co-op games together. It's been ARMA Reforger mostly as I rent a server. ....and now that they have mods on PS5, it's been way more enjoyable. Sometimes we go back to GTAV but not a lot. We have been waiting for Six Days in Fallujah but now it seems it won't be released until 2006 along with GTA6. Some good news of late is that Ready or Not is coming to PS5 mid July. I'm sure we'll be playing that rather than anything else for a while. For solo play, I stick with GT7 and whatever other game tickles my fancy at the time.

I bought RDR2 when I had a PS4 and played it a few times on my PS5 without issue. .....not sure what trouble you're having with your copy but it should be playable.

Can we name and list Toxic players as who they are IRL??
Kean_1 replied to phy's topic in Troubleshooting
Like many sites, the owner here does not allow "naming and shaming" posts. ....and for good reason. As for what you can do, there have been several discussions here on actions players can take to mitigate "griefing" by problem players. Unfortunately, Rockstar never gave RDO players the same option they did with GTAV to have a full, invite-only session (unless that occurred since I last played more than a year ago). On PlayStation there was a way we circumvented this problem using the network MTU settings to force a session to become essentially private. While it didn't always work, it was an option for us at least. -
In a big-picture sense, I don't believe so. ....except for the obvious downsides of having a bad rep in relation to interactions with the world, some dialogues, bounties, story arcs, etc. I think "all roads lead to Rome" for the most part.
-
What do you mean by "sanatising" in this context? In either case, RDR2.org is not affiliated with Rockstar so requests here are not forwarded to them. Also, a couple years ago R* announced that they have stopped development on any meaningful updates to RDO so requests for new features, etc. would likely fall on deaf ears anyway. Their focus is on GTA6 while maintaining GTAO.
-
Unfortunately, that's about the only news on the RDR2 front and it's for PC. đŸ™„ ....did they ever add solo RDO sessions in this game like they did with GTAO? Been thinking of a second playthrough for the campaign and if they have solo sessions, maybe get back into RDO.

Discord has certainly become a "go to" for a lot of folks but I have frequented several other forums over the years that are still very busy. ....some have even grown. Some of those also have Discord channels. RDR2 (the game) is no longer being updated. .....well, meaningful updates like GTAO. It simply doesn't have the audience it once had.
-
It's been a while since I've played but as I recall I could always clean up in water. However, it did take a little while before that would happen (blood stops showing up in the water). For my hat, I would simply jump into deeper water where my head would go under briefly. It may take a coupe dips but this also worked.

Why shocked? The RDR2 campaign was extremely robust with an insane amount of dialogue, content and attention to detail. While I would have completely welcomed additional content in the campaign, I was not surprised that there was none. .....especially taking note of what they did with GTAV / GTAO. Both were very long, complete stories that were very fulfilling IMO. In fact, I never did complete the RDR2 campaign as RDO came uot before I could. ....always meant to rerun it and probably will after I am finished replaying Ghost of Tsushima. What always bothered me was that they didn't take RDO as far as they could have.

Why do i lose honor for killing in self defence?
Kean_1 replied to JustYourAvarageEgg's question in Questions & Answers
I wouldn't read too much into it. That kind of stuff can happen. Your honor won't suffer much for it although you may have a bounty now in that region. Just pay it, kill a few birds, etc. and soon enough you'll be back to where you were. -

Kean_1 replied to MrTony's topic in Posse Recruitment
Hi Tony and welcome. Please note that I have moved your post to the Posse Recruitment forum and sent you a notification of the change. Also, communication on RDR2.org is essentially all done in English so you may want to keep that in mind when recruiting. If your posse is French-only then you might want to reflect that in your title as well. .....or if you also welcome English speaking, etc., let folks know that. Good luck. -
Old players returning - Returned to a sh!t show

GTAV only (relatively) recently provided the choice of a truly solo or friends-only experience that opened up most of the game to players in those modes. Before, it was limited. They also started including more in the updates for those types of players. Before that (on PS4/5 at least) you had to use the MTU trick to coerce the game into putting you into a lobby by yourself and still have access to a lot of the game. That was more of an exploit though. Not sure how they do it on PC but if it via modding files, then I think you're right. The thing is, R* was well aware folks were doing this but I don't recall them really making a big deal out of it. It's likely what made them finally cave. Having said that, I haven't really paid attention to what has been happening on the PC side. -
I think the lack of meaningful updates had an impact and then certainly R*'s announcement of stopping all new developmental updates of the game. As someone who had started laying since RDR2's release and then RDO when it was made available, it started getting old after a while. There was a lot of potential but simply not the extent of support GTAV has had which in fact I still get back into from time to time. Still an epic game and worth every penny IMO. I'd expect an announcement of RDR3 would stir things up though. ....or maybe R*'s rethinking of new updates for RDR2/RDO.
-
How did you buy it? If through the catalogue, then (IIRC) you need to pick it up at a post office.
-
I believe R*'s current focus is on GTA6. I wouldn't expect to see another RDR or official news / details of it until after GTA6's launch sometime in mid to late 2025. Leaks are another story but as it is now, there hasn't been any hints of it in the investor meetings and usual places folks would look for clues. .....at least that I know of.
-
Did you have the bow before and now don't see it or did you order it from the catalog and can't find it in your inventory, etc.? ......online or story mode?
-
Sounds like you're talking about Online so will move there. You may want to provide more detail to help people help you in figuring out why you're having trouble. ....hopefully someone can help.
-
The only advice I can give you is to use the report feature within the game and perhaps even blocking them on the PS Network. As far as making a thread on here with names, that is actually against the rules as it is on most forums. It's commonly called "naming & shaming" and the reasons are various but legitimate. I get your frustration but until R* provides players with an invite-only option, you're essentially forced to play with randoms. ....although I did provide some possible solutions to mitigate undesired, hostile encounters in the other thread.

how avoid the RED idiots who keep on killing me over and over?
Kean_1 replied to phlysh's topic in Troubleshooting
Well, sometimes it just takes joining some random groups and see how it goes. You can also check forums but with R* abandoning updates of RDO and the lack of activity in the RDO community, that is obviously a difficult. I have teamed up with randoms in other games including RDO (back in the day) which led me to meet some cool folks I ended up playing regularly with. Yeah, you will likely have to go through a vetting process to weed out the good from the bad folks but sometimes you just have to put yourself out there. The cool thing about that is once you find one or two folks, that usually opens up an avenue to meeting their friends, friends of friends, etc. btw, I found a group of friends 7 years ago that I still play other games with today. That small group extended into meeting their friends, family members and so on. ....so once you get a network of like-minded folks, you really don't even need to interact with others if you don't want to. I've had other interactions that lasted a while but with this particular group, we became longtime friends.
