No idea but then again, who says they have to parachute in? Maybe it's via train, randomized, chosen before the match, etc. It also doesn't need to be a cookie cutter BR mode. It could be an entirely different spin on BR. Either way, I only mentioned it because most other things from the big leak seemed to have come to pass except that. Personally, I have little interest in BR in RDR2 or in general. I have no idea how they would have implemented it if they did.

Ahhhh...... Mister Ed. Good one.

Read Dead Redemption 2 Comes With 2 Discs

This particular source I heard didn't specify but in his case, it was in the U.K. .....but as Dyl mentioned, this should only affect those that are not direct, retail channel partners (save for unforseen non-related issues). Distributors will not receive the game before launch with perhaps few exceptions. Personally, I would stick with the big brick & mortar retailers or someone like Amazon just to be safe. .....or buy digitally. https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2018-10-18-independent-game-stores-may-get-red-dead-redemption-2-late -
I like it. ......bullet hole is a nice touch too.

Read Dead Redemption 2 Comes With 2 Discs
Kean_1 replied to DylBandit's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
There is also talk of some possible delays for physical copies. A popular YTer mentioned that he got an email telling him that his PS4 copy will be 1 day late. .....his XB1 copy is apparently still on schedule. I kinda figured as much with R*s restrictions on retailers for RDR2s release. It's going to make it difficult for some to deliver on time to their customers. -
Yeah, I didn't play online either in the first iteration. I sure hope they don't incorporate Dead Eye into RDO this time around. I don't particularly like to use it in the campaign but at least there, I have a choice not to (for the most part). In RDO, players will essentially be forced to use it or possibly be handicapped. .....unless they can design it in a way that it's not OP.

What do you guys think of the new screenshots?
Kean_1 replied to NewsBot's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
You see??? Dreams do come true. -
Yeah, I'll be waiting for 9pm to roll around as well but I figure I'll have to wait another 1/2 hr or so for the day-one update to download. ....but after that I'll be playing till at least midnight or 1am. Not that I have to go somewhere the next morning (I'm semi-retired) but it's just that I can't handle staying up that late these days.

Seems mine took 3 hours more to complete the remaining 47GB download. ....which is I guess is about right for my internet speed of 34Mbps ( 15.3 GB/hr). Usually games take about 2-3 hours but are also half the size of this one.
-
Yeah, I don't know. I had the system on standby and would have thought it would be downloaded by now but when I turned it on I saw it wasn't. I have no idea when it started though. My download speed is 32 Mbps. Also, I've noticed that my PS4 tends to overestimate the time it takes for games to download. I'll check again in an hour and see.

MIne is still downloading on my PS4. ......45GB of 92. .......4 hours left it says.

Just an fyi.... That part you quoted me on with the link was regarding the OPs original point about the writing still going on for RDO. Looks like a moderator merged two of my responses together. ......but yeah, I agree in those scenarios how crunches could be avoided by good planning and a coordination of effort. I just find it funny that the media and some folks make a big deal out of this in the gaming industry when it's a fact of life in a lot of other businesses. btw, I worked with my fair share of good and bad project managers. The good ones usually knew a lot of the answers already, understood how each department worked, knew all the key people they could call upon to get results and had the drive to keep the ball rolling. .....the bad ones, not so much. 😄

There was already a 3GB+ patch on day one that was rumoured. I don't what that would translate to in wait times due to your connection but maybe that a hint at what you can expect in size.
-
Personally, I could care less how they get it done. "Crunching" is simply a part of life in most of the gaming industry but it's usually select departments or people who are there for the final push in the last couple of weeks (not throughout development). This also isn't some third world country where people can be treated as slaves. There are rules, laws and choice. I worked for a large corporation for 30 years and in various industries like mine was they do the same thing to push out product for end of month sales, reconciling budgets / accounting, inventory, meet project deadlines, etc., etc. and a lot of times that is on a consistent monthly and/or quarterly basis. ......I'm sure these these folks would wish it was a once every few year deal. I've been on the receiving end myself back in the day but it was a good paying job with good benefits, good people and room to grow. If it hadn't have been, I would have been looking for other employment. Either way, I know some will choose not to accept any explanation R* provides but Dan Houser mentioned what he was talking about was mostly about his senior writing staff (including himself) during the last 3 weeks. .....and that it was not something he expected from everyone else: I have no reason to disbelieve him and R* as given it's employees approval to talk about the working conditions with anyone who reaches out to them (which some already have with positive and some negative feedback). Having said that, not all employees in a large company like that will be treated the same depending on their own managers, directors & VPs and opinions about their situation/ experience will vary. Some bosses are simply jerks while others are just the opposite. .....that's true in any large business. I've worked for all types to be honest and while some can make your life hell, others can make it a real pleasure. ......and this was all under the same roof. .....but whatever makes a good story I guess. I just want the game. EDIT: Seems my posts were merged..... The following is in response to the OPs original point that the writing is still in process for RDO and has nothing to do with the above discussion about "crunches", etc.: Here is a link to the source article from Vulture. It's hard to tell when Hauser made the quote about still writing for RDO but it may have been back in August if you follow the timeline of the article. .....I didn't read the whole thing. http://www.vulture.com/2018/10/the-making-of-rockstar-games-red-dead-redemption-2.html

I didn't see any article about new information regarding RDO but you do realize it's still in development, right? It won't release until November and even then it will still be in beta. .....so as a beta what will be represented in the gameplay we see at that time will still not be the final product.
-
Yeah, I think that's what it is then. I made sure to check the "auto download" box and I'll leave my system on standby tonight. .......guess I better double check I have room.
-
 Yeah, thanks. On my PS4 it says that it is expected to download today although I hear it is supposed to be on Friday. My only guess is that since I'm on the West coast of the US, it will download @ 9PM PST tonight while for folks on the East coast, it will be midnight. ......at least that's the way it works for digital downloads on past games that I bought.

You think they will improve the weather system?
Kean_1 replied to GatoNegro's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
Personally, I would using GTAV as a benchmark instead of RDR. I think it will be more advanced than that with more detail, etc. We have already been informed that characters will react to weather and such. IMO, GTAV was pretty good in itself with the randomness and transitions. ......RDR2 will be way better if I were to guess. -
If they also have donkeys, and assuming I get one, I'll call it Francis. My horse will be Trigger as I mentioned. .......doubt that will ring any bells for most.
-
".....with 1200 actors of whom 700 provided dialogue"
-
Yeah..... It finally showed up in my library and is scheduled to download on my PS4. I'll wager the day-one patch will be a few GB itself but it sure beats waiting for the whole game to load.
-
GTAV was based on the outrageous. It was a game world focused on self indulgence, corruption, greed, parodies and over-the-top behaviour. I believe RDO will be more about immersiveness in an era with more of a focus on detail and authenticity (to an extent). GTAV:O and RDO will be co-existing side by side. I see no reason why R* would want to repeat the same exact gameplay experience of GTAV:O in RDO to be honest. It doesn't fit in the RDR game world and I tend to believe RDO will be a more "serious" experience by comparison.
-
Yep..... Also, pre-loads apparently are going to occur this Friday for those of us who bought digital copies and physical copies appear to be two disks. btw, the digital game will be 89.2 GB in size according to the latest reports so make room.
