Well, when RDR2 comes out I'll be living on my couch.

How many units do you think R* will sell?
Kean_1 replied to BelleStarr's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
Just to clarify, we're talking units here and not dollars. I think I saw one forecast that was for 15 million units IIRC for RDR2. Personally, I think it will at least do double that. .....30 million units if not more. I think a good majority of GTAV fans will at least have an an interest in RDR2 and possibly pull the trigger if R* plays the ir cards right. Who knows. .......maybe 50 million or more. -
I believe you did:

Yeah, they talked about how they were going to focus on a lot of those elements they wish they could of in RDR and GTAV. I think there are going to be a lot of these cool animations, physics refinements, etc. that (when combined) bring life and immersion to the environment. Nature reacting to the player and all that stuff. .....really cool indeed. I wonder when the next video will come out as this is obviously the first in a series. I'd imagine the last will touch on multiplayer? -

First Person still Unanswered? I Want to Live in this World.
Kean_1 replied to Zevick's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
I would love to have the option and I want to say that R* is the kind of developer that learns from past experiences and builds on that. ....because they do. However, this is one feature I'm not so sure how they will view. On one hand, I think it's a no brainer given that it was an option in GTAV that many folks wanted. It was also done in a way that (I thought) worked quite well. It gave a different perspective to driving and other activities. On the other hand, R* may feel RDR is a TPV game at heart and the story , experience is best told through that perspective. This is one aspect I'm just not sure how they're going to go. -
I can't imagine you wouldn't especially considering all the things you can do in GTAV. Given the relative lack of the hustle and bustle of a modern environment in GTAV, I'm curious to see what all the activities will include in a world based in the 1890s. I have faith R* has a lot in store for us.

Yeah, well....I rarely find myself on the same level to "professional" gaming news / review sites and presenters these days especially with the focus some of them have in regard to such things, political correctness, etc. Maybe if R* added a crafting mechanic where they could whip up some lattes and tofu burgers they would feel more comfortable. .....heaven forbid folks see the how it really is to hunt and gather you own food. All kidding aside, I like the sound of this mechanic as it can make you think before taking your shot, considering placement, etc. Obviously, you would have feelings to not make the animal suffer but also to avoid having to chase it down in the wild. ......possibly making the situation even more risky by unintentionally crossing paths with another predator in the process and so on.
-
I'm sure their mechanic will also be better than anything Ubisoft could deliver in FC5 for example. .....that was fun for about the first couple minutes and then just a repetitive grind. Unfortunately, there wasn't much else to do in that otherwise static (albeit beautiful) game world. Seems animals can also be killed outright or wounded. .....requiring tracking if the latter occurs. I have to assume a well placed shot will down your prey right away.
-
Me too as I think R* will have plenty of activities to do so if one is not your cup of tea, you won't be stuck having to do it.
-
Well, looks like fishing will be an activity in RDR2 from the new gameplay trailer. ......sorry Bropollo.

Yeah, folks like him, Jerry Miculek and the like tend to come off like that but I think that's common with those type A personalities. I don't know if you remember or ever heard of this guy (Jim Zubiena) but this video clip from a Miami Vice episode (1984?) wasn't sped up for effect. The only issue I recall hims talking about was that the plastic gloves he's wearing for the storyline hung on the trigger a few times so it took a some takes to get it right. This guy was incredibly fast. ...plus he's a 1911 fan so that's always a plus with me being an enthusiast and owner myself. Sorry for getting off topic.... -
Official: Game Play Trailer Released Aug 9th
Kean_1 replied to CMcC's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
Definitely more of a Hollywood element that would fit in a game (fanning). Done it only a couple times on my own SA .357 Blackhawk with .38's although I wouldn't recommend it. Fanning is very hard on the gun and very inaccurate for most although when you see the likes of professional cowboy shooters like Bob Munden and others doing slip hammering, fanning, etc. (albeit with customized versions), they sure make the practice look effective. ....but then when you spend most of life honing your skill, I guess you can get pretty proficient at just about anything. A very cool thing nonetheless. -

Saw this in the morning on my Twitter feed. Thanks for posting it up CMCC. -
Of course I did. ......but I didn't want to give it away. Men WIthout Hats ...."You can dance if you want to...." I graduated highschool in the mid eighties so yeah, I know the references well.
-
I honestly believe that the mention of losing the hat was simply a reference to a scripted event in the campaign and likely not a new mechanic beyond that such as losing your horse as those guys suggested in the video. You are then given the option to go retrieve it (likely putting yourself at risk) or moving on having to source another hat.

Ahhhhh..... The 80s.

I struggled with this initially but a few years ago I switched almost exclusively to digital. However, I'm not the kind of guy that sells his games. ....I keep everything. That is one big disadvantage of digital copies is that you can't sell or lend your copy to anyone as you can with physical media. If that is important to you, I would advise you not to go digital. Another advantage of physical copies is that they are usually much faster to initially load on your system since the game will usually access the disk for some of the information. When downloading digital copies, you're literally downloading the whole program. ....which also means that typically less games can be stored on your system at once. I know the above sounds like I'm arguing against my decision to stick with digital but I still like the convenience. I can switch between games without having to bother with disks. I have no disks to physically store. If I ever want to revisit a title, I simply reload it from my library. .....I usually do this overnight or during the day since the action can take a couple hours. I also get games at the time of release. Some games will even preload on my system and will unlock at the correct time (meaning no long download times except for the usual "day 1" patch). Personally, I hate the hassle of obtaining a copy on release day at the store or having it delivered. Before I retired, it became much more convenient for me to just buy the digital copy especially when I had a lot of other priorities going on in my job / life. Now I'm simply used to it. In the end, it's a personal decision.

Yesterday I captured the 5 bounties, killed 25 people, and completed the challenge. Also got the $ reward for finishing it. Sorry the challenged glitched on ya CMCC. Maybe if you log on again it will reset? The captures are only $10k a piece so I think your idea of just blasting them is worth it if you just want the tomahawk. ...hatchet, whatever.
