Posses are now available - POST IN SUB FORUM FOR RECRUITMENT
Kean_1 replied to Benjo's topic in Red Dead Online
Hey Benjo, Is there a way to include some sort of indicator that could show what platform these clubs are established on (e.g. PC, PS4, XB1)? As it is right now, I have no idea how to determine that. Unless everyone includes their platform in their title, I don't know how folks will be able to tell. Thank -
Red Dead Redemption 2 For PC Possibly Leaked
Kean_1 replied to NewsBot's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
Saw this a couple of days ago. Personally, I don't see what all the hooplah is about. As Jamesie mentioned, I think there are few who doubt there will be a PC version released at some point. All anyone has to do is observe what Zelnick has been saying about PC. He's already talked about how "very, very important" the PC platform has become to them when discussing RDR2. This is so little to go on for something that we already knew will likely come to fruition. Hell, I think Zelnicks words are more reassuring of that than this. -
How strict are you going to be with the story?
Kean_1 replied to ZLion's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
In a game like RDR2? .....I'll be completing the story and likely all of the side missions, etc. With a good title, I don't mind savoring all that the campaign has to offer. Depending on how it's developed, sometimes I will opt to complete side tasks first before tackling some main story missions to gain experience, collect weapons/items that might be offered, earn money, etc. ......basically preparing/outfitting my character with better equipment, etc. before tackling more difficult parts of the game. I can also get more familiar with the game mechanics, the world, etc. -
Of course they'll change it. There is a lot they have learned since RDR and GTAV.
-
I agree..... I would love if there was at least an option / mode where players would not be visible to each other on a radar or via any sort of marking. .....unless perhaps you are within a particular range and have line of sight. Obviously, this would make ambushes more unexpected but it would also work in the other players favor since they could choose safer routes, use concealment, etc. as they travel. It would be nice if they could also make "safe zones" like in some towns, etc. where players are protected from griefers. .....or something along those lines. I definitely am hoping for a friends-only mode like in GTAV but I hope activities (e.g. some businesses, etc.) are not limited to "open" online like they are in that game. ....unless of course they can make RDR2:O in a way that mitigates "griefing" concerns. .....just spitballin' here.
-
....bump that age group up by 10 or 20 years and I would agree.
-
Not that I noticed. FC5 was a very shallow game IMO. It felt gutted and downright frustrating at times compared to previous iterations in the franchise for a number of reasons I won't go into here. Yeah, still interested to see how it will work in relation to how much they put into the whole damage mechanic. R* always seems to have so many little details whether it's the environment, interactions, etc.
-
FC5 is a horrible comparison IMO with it's forced capture sequences and progression bar / mechanic among many other things I found wrong in that game. RDR2 will be nothing like it and all the better for it IMO.
-
Yeah.... Hopefully we'll find out more next month.

I like the idea of a friendly free roam mode but perhaps that could coexist with a "free for all" mode like GTA Online as well? ....just like there are "friends only" modes or solo mode for online. The problem with GTAO is that you have no choice other than to play in the open mode where everyone is vulnerable to griefers if want to do any VIP or CEO activities. Who knows though. ....they could find a way to make the online experience less about griefing and more about coop while still making ti possible to have PvP experiences. Personally, I'm more of a coop kind of guy. I'd rather work together and help out other players. I can handle PvP encounters as long as they don't dominate the gameplay.
-
I'm definitely a solo player and loved the RDR1 campaign, GTAV storyline, etc. I'm sure RDR2 won't be any different. As far as online, I typically prefer co-op over PvP but it really depends on the game. I didn't like the way GTAV condoned and encouraged troll-like behavior and I really hope RDR2 doesn't go that route. .....perhaps encouraging folks to cooperate more but still have modes, etc. that allow the competitive PvP sp many apparently love. .....on the subject of GTAV, I still played online but either in friends only sessions or solo sessions (using a common workaround) so I could still build my empire.

Hey, no problem although just to be clear, my intention was not to come off as sanctimonious. ....just prefer to game with folks who are older like me, laid back and tend to have more in common. .....that's all.
-
Kean_1 (PSN) I prefer to game with more mature (older) players like myself so if you feel the same, I set up a Community on PSN called "Red Dead Redemption 2 - Mature" if you're interested. .....or send me an invite (just include a msg letting me know your from the RDR2 forum). No offense to any younger folks on here. It's just that I'd rather game with people more in my own age group.
-
.....baby steps my friend. .......baby steps.

I agree. Before it used to be and attitude of "aren't you too old to play computer games?". ....now it is more widely accepted that folks do. I think those folks that already were began to feel more at ease to come out of the woodwork and admit that they do. Funny thing is, the numbers were always there showing just how many were. .....many just didn't want to admit it. btw, IMO it doesn't matter if you have other responsibilities like kids, a job, spouse, etc. I'm semi-retired now but when I had a full time job (and commuting 120 miles a day I might add) I still found alone-time to game. I also found time to work on my cars / projects, hang out with our friends, BBQ, read, watch TV or movies, go out to dinner, etc. .....but that didn't mean that I neglected my wife, child or responsibilities. ....been happily married for many years. Having said all that, if one finds that such things do interfere in their life, then yeah........probably time to reassess your priorities.

There was a 45 minute demo they were shown. There was also a French interview that Maxime Chao had with with Rob Nelson. I read the translated transcript on IGN. ....it was also reported by other sources as well though. That interview had a lot of good information in it. http://www.ign.com/boards/threads/rockstar-north-interview-red-dead-redemption-2-has-been-in-development-for-8-years.455129809/

I'm wondering if the animal reaction will depend on where you shoot it. In other words, can you get a "kill shot" that will take down the deer more humanely or faster (to avoid chasing after it). This could have an effect on some players perhaps giving them an incentive (or a challenge) to place their shots more carefully. I'm very excited to see this level of interaction and detail in the game world and interested to see just how far they will take it. .....and how much influence the player will have.
-
Personally, I found more value in the IGN summary of the 45 minute demo and the transcript of the interview with Rob Nelson. That got me way more excited about the game than watching any of the videos. .....again, personally.

I do the same thing with my nephews. It's literally the first subject out of their mouths when I visit for family functions. ....."did you try XXXX game yet?"
-
Much older? .......ouch. I believe there are a lot more of us than you think my friend. The folks on my PSN friends list are almost exclusively over 35 and a few are my age which is around the half century mark. Personally, I've been a gamer since the 70s and bought my own, real PC (not counting the C64) in the 80s. .....had some of the early consoles before that time and spent many hours of my youth in arcades. I think there is a segment of the community (including myself) who grew up during the dawn of mainstream computer/console gaming and have always had an interest that they don't simply "outgrow". I think there may have have been a stigma about "older folks" playing games up until a few years after the turn of the century but nowadays? .......nah. I see people way more open to showing interest or admitting that they are gamers these days regardless of age. @Yoda, I just ran across this today. .....great story. I actually have a couple of friends on PSN that shoot me messages from time to time just to see if I'm ok or to share something in their own lives. Sorry to hear about your gaming buddy but I'm glad to see you made a difference in his life.

Some of things I have heard from their mouths is also rather shocking but I can only blame the parents at that point. .....likely a "hands off" approach to parenting. ......bloody irresponsible is what I say.
