  1. That was actually a representation of my own mind being blown. ......as Arch mentioned. There were a couple other head-scratchers from that day as well that built up to it.
  2. Do you already have an existing crew you use for GTA:O? .....curious about that RDR image in the background of the error screen you shared too.
  3. Hey Arch, I just checked and I was able to get into the editor for my crew emblem that I use in GTAV.
  4. For some games I do but it depends on the circumstances. This year I will likely pass on BFV until there is a sale simply because RDR2 is coming out soon after. I also tend to pass on games I might like but simply don't have that deep an interest in or have reservations about, etc. It could also be that I'm currently into another game at the moment or there is one arriving at the same time that I like better (like the example above). Either way, when a truly good game comes along like RDR2, I will either preorder or buy (or have it delivered) on the day of release.
  5. Hi Cokey, Yeah, can't wait either. I also have a PSN Community I started called "Red Dead Redemption 2 - TeamUp". There is currently just 2 of my good PSN friends on there but feel free to join in if you wish (no pressure). I try to keep it updated with news, etc. but I created it for the same goal. .....to create a pool of players we can all draw from, make new PSN friends for the game, etc.
  6. I think some of us have a different definition of what is "pay to win". For instance, I don't consider GTAV:O a P2W model. The reason is due to the fact that players are simply buying in-game currency with real money. ......currency that all other players can still obtain themselves (without paying extra) through activities in the game. On the other hand, many free to play games are prime examples of a P2W model where players literally can't obtain the same, better weapons, vehicles, etc. that paying customers can. That's not to say that I don't agree that Shark Card purchasers don't have an advantage over others, but what separates GTAV:O from the P2W model IMO is that the player can still make cash in their game and still buy the same things Shark Card players can. In a nutshell, if items that provide an advantage in a game are offered exclusively to players willing to pay for them, I would call that a classic "pay to win" scenario. At best, I would consider GTAV:Os model a shortcut. In either case, I don't think RDR2 will be as "bad" as GTAV:O for various reasons.
  7. ....I'm semi-retired now so taking a day off from "work" isn't even an option. However, I rarely play games during the day when I'm doing other things. ....but I'll still put in a few hours of play time that evening. Any purchases I've ever made in recent years have been through Amazon (for day-of-release delivery) or digital. I rarely pre-order titles I really want and will either buy on the day of release or shortly after. RDR2 was a little different as I am very confident that this product will deliver and I don't mind showing my support. ....the additional GTAV:O cash is also kind of cool as I still play that title from time to time and I already know I'm going to buy RDR2 on release anyway.
  8. Honestly, I have no fears regarding RDR2 because I'm pretty confident I know what to expect based on R*s track record and my own experience with their past titles. If we were discussing a tile from someone like Ubisoft however, I'd likely have a laundry list based on disappointments I've had with them. ......now that I'm thinking of it, I do worry a bit about RDR2:O. I hope it's not a griefer-haven like GTAV:O was/is. I also hope the game promotes a cooperative gameplay environment. It would be cool to play the campaign in co-op but I know that won't likely happen. Of course, I could start developing concerns once we know more about the gameplay elements, components and mechanics, but as it is right now, no one knows much.
  9. I posted this in the General forum but thought I should add it here too...... Just saw this pop up on my twitter feed an hour ago. Zelnik gives his impressions of the GaaS model (Games as a Service) and Battle Royale. While not ruled out, sounds like BR may not be a thing in RDR2 afterall. https://gamedaily.biz/article/93/red-dead-redemption-2-monetization-not-our-primary-concern-says-zelnick

  11. I agree Yoda. The Division marketed the DZ as a place where you could interact with other groups of Agents and possibly join with them or maybe against them. The harsh reality of it was that very few were ever interested in a cooperative experience and would rather shoot first or just run around a grief everyone. ......not my idea of fun. Personally, I don't particularly like PvP games but I do love co-op. I also like the idea of an open world that promotes more of a cooperative experience by making PvP a much more risky venture. In GTAV:O, they went out of their way to reward competitive, corrupt behavior but that's sort of the whole point to that game I guess. I have a feeling they will be toning down that element in RDR2. As it is, I believe it's already been leaked that players will not have knowledge of where everyone is on the map like they do in GTAV (based on proximity rather). I wouldn't mind PvP. Actually, I think it would be cool if some players could assume the role of law enforcement or bounty hunters, giving other players the option whether to engage in behaviour that would open them up to PvP encounters. I'd also like to see invite-only modes where it would just be you and your friends against the AI. The one things I hated about GTAV:O is that you had to be on an open session to partake in most of the business ventures / missions. I hope that's not the case for RDR2 or at least they do something about the blatant griefing .
  12. I agree with Benjo. There needs to be safe areas otherwise griefers will inevitably take over online. I would expect something similar to how GTAV:O works now. ....perhaps even the escape mechanic where you need to lose your pursuers before you are able to take sanctuary in your camp, hideout or safe area.
  13. I agree Benjo. IMO, this is another case of trying to make news where there really is no news. .....trying to read too much into it. Zelnick isn't "downplaying" RDR2 as he has repeatedly mentioned that he believes it will do very well if you read the entire quotes from that interview. For example.... "It's hard to expect anything to perform as well as the most profitable entertainment product of all time," Zelnick observes. "I don't think that's a realistic expectation. Our hope, and also belief, is that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be an extraordinary creative product and that it will do incredibly well. Beyond that I can't say - I don't think anyone can say. We have to release it and see what consumers think." https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2018-07-02-running-scared-from-red-dead-redemption-2
  14. It's whatever you want. You can even make the club closed where you can vet players before allowing them to join. Just set the rules in the description. As long as you're not breaking any forum rules with your club, I'm guessing Management would just fine with it.
  15. Meh, no big spoiler for me given what we already knew from the background. ....and they didn't show enough to really spoil any other surprises. I'm ok with it.
  16. I should probably change that as some will likely take it as some sort of strict criteria. I'm not thinking of any particular age group. Just looking for folks who are easy-going and like to work as a team, help slower/newer players out in the group, etc. .....the opposite of rude, annoying people with self important attitudes trying to impress everyone else in the group that take themselves or the game too seriously. Perhaps more mature in that sense although even the use of the word "mature" tends to rub some people the wrong way. I'm at the half century mark myself although I've had PSN friends from their 20s on up to my age.
  17. Yes, their R* Social Club is available but currently doesn't include RDR2. I'm sure that will change once we get closer to or after the release of the game. However, I see this forum (and these clubs) as simply an additional source that we can tap to find players just like PS4 Communities, etc. Here is a link to the R* Social Club for reference. It worked for them with GTAV:O so I'm sure they will utilize it with RDR2: https://socialclub.rockstargames.com
  18. Personally (i;m on PS4 btw), I'm looking at it as an opportunity to befriend more like-minded gamers so that when RDR2 does come out, we'll have a pool of players/friends that we can choose from. In a way, it can also be used as a tool to vet players for your particular group, playstyle, etc. In my case, I'm just looking for older folks on PS4 like me who are just looking to have a good time and prefer to work with each other as a team (vs. just griefing players, etc.). We obviously don't know what the different play modes will consist of at this time so we'll have to see how all that plays out. I would just rather have a pool of folks I could tap into when the game releases rather than trying to brave the RDR2 online gameworld alone. ......and if GTAV:O is any indication of the potential for players to grief the weak and loaners, I would prefer to have buddies I can rely on.
  19. I really liked the Witcher 3 but they could have removed all of the sex scenes from it and I would still have the same opinion. In other words, it added nothing to the gameplay that I would have missed if it were never there.
  20. I really don't see them going that far in RDR2. GTAV was more about outrageousness, raunchiness and seedy side of society. There will probably be some but not to that extent I believe.
  21. Thanks for that addition Lonestar.
  22. It was funny in GTAV but that game was all about pushing boundaries and such. My wife and I got a kick out of it as it was a bit of a surprise that you could actually pick up hookers, get a lap dance in a strip club, have one of the girls come to your apartment, etc. It was one those humorous mechanics they had like getting high, getting drunk, etc. It was cool to discover some of those things although once you do, the joke is already over. Why some folks are fixated on this particular facet of games though (nudity and sex) is beyond me. In RDR2, I'm sure they will be some but I doubt they will overdo it. ......I'm with Benjo on this one as I could really care less to be honest.
  23. I think R* will show just enough to wet the appetites of their dedicated fans while making their product attractive to new customers of the franchise. They will reveal just enough about the gameplay mechanics to answer some questions, quell some doubts and pique interest. There will likely be no public closed or open beta so I think the game, for the most part, will be unspoiled. If you want a recent example of too much exposure just look at FC5. That game had oodles of marketing videos introducing fans to the characters, cut scenes from the game revealing crucial parts of the story, tons of in-game footage from the devs and closed demo, etc. What they didn't have was support for the fans who had specific questions about the game's mechanics, UI, etc. In either case, that game was a huge turd IMO on several levels. While I rarely show much confidence in a game prior to release, I honestly believe RDR2;R* will do it right .
