  1. Yeah, it's certainly a grind no doubt. I do hope the RDO economy isn't as out of whack as GTAV:Os. I also hope it is geared more toward cooperative gameplay rather than the wildly toxic PvP while in the open world.
  2. Never have, never will. I just don't see the point. IMO, I don't care about leaderboards, stats, etc. I play games for the enjoyment of it. Personally, I care more about the gameplay and camaraderie. ......likely why I prefer co-op over PvP. If cheating is so bad as to dampen my enjoyment of a game, I'll simply not play. If I've learned anything over all these years is that if there is a way to exploit, take advantage of or hack a game, there will always be people to do it.
  3. I've earned more than that in GTAV:O without the use of Shark Cards or hacking but yeah, it's not easy to obtain such an item when you consider everything else that you buy in the game along the way (e.g. vehicles, aircraft, businesses, weapon upgrades, etc.). I never felt the yachts were worth it to be honest and felt they were just for bragging rights. There are tons of "get rich quick" videos on YT showing you how best to grind for the cash. Some work better than others. That's how I was able to purchase all of my businesses, etc. If you would argue the point of grinding for cash in the game or the inflated prices of items, I would agree. A liar? ....naw. It's possible to obtain those items with honest gameplay but at this point, I don't really care to convince you of it as I don't have the tolerance to be disrespected. Yeah, the Division wasn't nearly as good as the early in-game marketing footage showed. They are one of those developers that I will no longer trust that their product is what it appears to be while in development. Although I enjoyed GRW (not PvP), they came up short once again. .....but not as bad as FC5 IMO. I'm done with their franchises of AC, FC and likely the Division too. I was burned one too many times. On the other hand, I have not had any major disappointments with R*s products. Also, most of the in-game footage and major reveals we have had so far is recent and in the final stages of the product's development. This isn't the same situation (IMO) as the Division where we were being sold one thing and got another. As far as the hands-on reviews, even when you cut through the subjective opinions/fluff, just hearing about the mechanics and knowing what I know about R*s previous products gives me a really good idea of the experience I should expect from RDR2.
  4. What forced microtransactions do you speak of. As far as special game editions, this is nothing new or unique in the gaming world. The ones R* offers in theirs is nearly all story-mode related cosmetics, a couple missions and shortcut items. I expect RDOs MCX model to be the same as GTAV:O where it is based on in-game cash that you have an option to buy. That is not the same as a paywall where items are purchase-only. You can still achieve items in the game "organically" by working for them. No one is forcing you to buy Shark Cards, etc. .....that's merely a shortcut for those who want that option and are willing to pay for it. I have to say..... I was hyped for GTAV for many of the same reasons I am hyped for RDR2 now. ....and I was not disappointed. GTAV delivered IMO and I even enjoyed GTAV:O to an extent. I do believe RDO will be a little different from GTAV:O given some of the interviews and information we have seen so far. What we've seen so far with the in-game footage, mechanic descriptions, hands-on experiences, etc. is a lot more than just the "cover". Too hyped? ......naw. I base my excitement on the track record of R*, my own satisfaction with their past games and the information I have seen thus far regarding RDR2.
  5. Fun cars. ....british sports cars in general for that matter. The nice thing is that you really don't need to go that fast in them to get the full driving experience and sensation. They are the definition of true sports cars IMO. I was always partial to the Austin Healey 3000 and thought it would be a cool car to own. .....although these days probably quite expensive for one that's in good shape and depending on year. What's the curb weight on one of those? I'm guessing not much more than 2,000 lbs? It'll be a hoot with a V8. I wonder how it will affect the balance.
  6. It was mine too only to be surpassed by the 1970 Dodge Challenger which proved elusive all of these years. The closest thing I got to that was when Dodge re-introduced the Challenger in '08 and I bought one in 2010. .....which I will continue to keep into the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, the Charger remains in a state of disrepair at the moment from sitting too long. Someday I'll get around to restoring it but for now it just sits on the side of my house. ....it's an SE with the 383 and 727 Torqueflite auto.
  7. I get the distrust many gamers have toward developers especially these days. I share those feelings too towards certain companies but to be honest, for me, R* isn't one of them. I found RDR's campaign to be long and very entertaining as well as GTAV's. ......and I have no doubt I will find RDR2 even more fulfilling. I also look forward to their online component when that becomes available in November as I am sure that will provide several months of fun for my friends and myself. Where some other game companies have made really poor decisions of late in the quality and direction of their products, I personally don't count R* among them. They would really have to botch RDR2 for me to change my mind at this point but I think that chance is next to none from what I've seen. I know we all have different checkboxes when it comes to what we value in our games but I hope your concerns are put to rest when the game finally releases.
  8. I just recently started playing RDR again on PS Now during their free 7 day trial. I noticed that the online was still up which surprised me. There were a few folks in the session I joined but I exited after a couple minutes since I was simply curious to see (wanted to spend my time in the campaign). I'm not sure if PS Now is tied into PS3 users or not for such things? I swear they could have made good money on a re-release on RDR for the latest gen consoles a few months back. .....perhaps even still for the die hard fans.
  9. My first car was (is) a 1969 Dodge Charger that was only 15 years old when I obtained it in high school. 😦 ......I still can't believe it when I think back on those things.
  10. OMG I feel old reading some of these responses.
  11. Me neither (not worried). I never thought the model for GTAVO was bad either as you could always still make money in game and acquire the same items. ....although the price for items is rather high. There are dozens of YT videos showing you how to make money fast in the game. Although once the tasks, missions, etc. which make you money are no longer fun to do, then that's when I typically stop playing. I never purchased a shark card in my life and never will. In either case, I think GTAV:O has proven to be one of the most successful online games in history regardless of whether folks disagree with their business model or not. Personally, I would be ok if RDR2 is similar as long as there are still a variety of fun activities I can do to make in-game money. It's when companies start moving to a pay to win model, loot box system, etc. when I take issue. ....and I believe R* when they said they are not interested in going down that road.
  12. If you're interested in experiencing RDR, I would play it first if you can. Personally, I don't think I could handle going back to the old graphics, clunky mechanics, etc. after playing RDR2. ....just wouldn't be worth it to me. In fact, PS4 currently has a 7 day free trial for their PS Now. I have been playing RDR for the past 2 nights. ....although I am beginning to realize why some folks hate this service as it has proven to be pretty stuttery. I may just end up bringing my PS3 from upstairs and plugging it in next to my PS4 so I can play RDR from the disk.
  13. THere is no delay. They announced that online would be released as an open beta in November. The move to release in beta is likely due to lessons learned from GTAV:O. R* never announced that it would be released sooner than that and in fact was expected. R* also has said that they want players to experience the game world in SP first. They have already stated that they consider RDO a separate component from the campaign but SP is the base for their game(s). R* has a healthy focus on single player and has made it known that in a world where others are veering away from it, SP is still very important to them. The RDR2 campaign is going to be huge so I personally have no concerns that I won't get my monies worth. ....although I would be happy if they offered DLC at a later date (even an Undead Nightmare 2 perhaps?). As for GTAV, the devs felt the campaign was robust enough to stand on its own and quite frankly, I agree. Although I might have liked DLC for the SP in that game, it was also one of those titles I felt I got my monies worth as I had spent many more hours playing than similar games.
  14. There is no additional cost. These are items that will be included in the game but PS4 players simply get them 30 days sooner than XB1. The Grizzlies outfit wil be available for SP while the other items (saddle, horse and gun IIRC) will be available when the RDO beta launches (for all RDR2 owners) in November. https://blog.us.playstation.com/2018/10/05/red-dead-redemption-2-ps4-early-access-content-revealed/
  15. I know. My next door neighbor went to one a couple months ago. I caught him and his family on their way out (wondered what the costumes were for). .....I just smiled and said "that's cool".
  16. .....another sad thing is that your know he had that chain mail made for himself. I mean, where would you even go these days to get something like that done?
  17. ....and XBox Live retails for the same. My whole point was that there was no additional cost to PS4 owners to get this content 30 days ahead of time. Of course we are all paying for the content in some form or another including the yearly online service dues. I'm not saying it's free, simply no additional cost when compared to what XB1 owners are paying for this game and the same content.
  18. Bringing exclusive content/titles to their customers helps attract potential customers. I guess my point was that there is no additional cost to PS4 owners for this content.
  19. Well, being that we don't really know what will be in the game yet and how they will be balanced against other arms, I'll just mention guns of the period that I would like to carry in the game. I have a few favorites but since we're limited to 2 each (long guns and handguns) here are some of what my picks might be.... Winchester Model 94 (.30-30) Winchester Model 1897 (12 ga) Colt SAA (.45) S&W DA (.44-40) Either way, there are a lot of cool weapons from that era I wouldn't mind using in the game but again, it depends on what those "50" weapons will be when it comes to my final choice.
  20. Well, RDR2 retails for $59.99 USD whether it's on PS4 or XB1, right? .....unless I'm missing something and these things are only available in a special PS4 pack that costs more?
  21. Many guys are going to treat women differently. Call me old (well, maybe because I am) but in personal interactions, I still treat women with a higher degree of respect in the sense of traditional courtesy, etc. I still open doors, give up my seat, etc. That's just the way I was raised. However, it's clear most of the encounters I've seen in gaming like this were simply guys trying to win favor in some bizarre hope they'll make an online connection with a girl. It's a game, not a dating service. In that sense, I too treat everyone equally. .....and that is determined mostly by someone's personality, manners, etc. I get a sense that many of these guys that display this kind of behavior in games are likely socially inept IRL to some degree. I guess that's why I get visions of some lonely virgin playing games in his Mom's basement.
  22. ....as far as gamers like that, this is the image I have.
  23. Me too. With everything else looking credible in that leak, I too thought BR would be part of RDO. Zelnick from Take Two seemed to indicate that they were not really interested in a BR especially for the sake of it as some others are doing. .....but he also said he wouldn't rule it out. It would have to be something special. I guess we'll have to see when they give us more information. I have a feeling if they do have BR, it will be in a different form that what folks are used to. Personally, I could do without it if it means resources are spent elsewhere making RDO a better, less toxic experience than GTAV:O was. .....focusing perhaps more on co-op than aggressive PvP.
  24. Sounds like you're misinterpreting people's indifference to sexual content in games as some sort of moral high ground. If you read most of these replies I believe you will see that there is a common tone of simple disinterest in the topic in this sense. It seems you're trying to create an argument where there is none. Personally, all of those other activities in RDR2 sound interesting to me as I'm sure R* also thought they would be. To be frank, I don't get the desire to have sexually explicit content in the game but okay, that's your thing. I'm just saying that folks like me don't need it or necessarily feel it adds value. I also don't believe you can't have one without the other as you seem to be suggesting. .....as if you're saying it's not okay to have graphic violence in a game unless you have sex too. I wasn't offended by the sex scenes in the Witcher but I also didn't think they were necessary either. I wouldn't have felt the game was lacking without them but that's just me.
  25. 😄 ......naw, too late. Wife wouldn't have approved of it either.
