Nope, I didn't forget to post the Weekly Bonuses, Discounts & More this week. There simply wasn't one. There was the weekly GTAO promotions today but not RDO. .....RDO usually comes on Tuesdays and GTAO on Thursdays. Just wanted to let you folks know who follow these.

Well, we're still early in the game and the details are kinda vague but as it stands, it doesn't look like anything significant will be added to the campaign as they only talks about "a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades and performance enhancements to take full advantage of the latest hardware, making the game more beautiful and more responsive than ever." It seems much of the "expanded and enhanced" improvements will be reserved for Online: "And for the massive and vibrant community of Grand Theft Auto Online players worldwide, the journey through the ever-evolving, shared world of GTA Online will continue on to the new generation with more new updates including additional GTA Online content exclusive to the new consoles and PC. There will also be a new standalone version of GTA Online coming in the second half of 2021, which will be available for free exclusively for PlayStation 5 players during the first three months. Additionally, all PlayStation Plus members on PlayStation 4 will get GTA$1,000,000 (deposited into their in-game Maze Bank account within 72 hours of log-in) each month they play GTA Online until the launch of GTA Online on PlayStation 5. Stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for many more details on the new versions of GTAV and much more to come in the months ahead." Hopefully the "expanded" content includes something like new areas to explore (an expanded map), etc. The thing is (and they mentioned this when developing RDR2) that GTAV had limitations when they ported it to PS4. ....limitations in the way it was originally coded for the PS3 that they simply couldn't change. I don't know how far they are going to delve into the mechanics in the PS5 version but I have to imagine that's still a limiting factor in what they can do. I will say that the PS4 port was still impressive IMO and I expect the PS5 version to be even better. One thing that might affect my purchase however is the MTU exploit. I currently use it on the PS4 to force myself into solo sessions. When I'm not play with friends in private sessions, I am playing by myself. I refuse to play online with randoms as I find it absolutely no fun. If there is no way to do this on PS5, I may pass on the game this time. .....at the very least, I'm going to have to give it some serious thought.
-
Just to be clear, I'm not hating on the game or suggesting it's going to die. Fact is, none of us know what's in store but I do have a feeling they will do something with it on the PS5s release. ......and as I said, we still haven't seen everything that is to be announced as far as new titles, remasters or other plans. Personally, I think the next few months will be a good indicator depending on what we hear. I do hope there is a bright future. I'd like nothing more.
-
I haven't played RDR2 for many, many months but it still stays installed on my PS4 along with GTAV. .....I actually spend more time with the latter. I'm also interested in the PS5 and I'll likely be purchasing as soon as they become available. I'll keep my PS4 for my kid and /or as an entertainment center for watching Netflix, hulu, Amazon Prime, YT videos, blu-rays, etc. RDR2 hasn't had any updates for a very long time. .....just the weekly bonuses, discounts, etc. Many have lost interest in the game and in fact these forums have been quite dead. R* had plans for RDO and I have to think that if it wasn't for the COVID situation, we have seen 1 or 2 updates by now. We'll have to see what happens though. Remember, there are still announcements to be made regarding the next gen consoles and according to Sony, that will include more information on titles. Even R* will likely be providing more details on the "new" GTAV so perhaps they have some news that they have yet to share on RDO in relation to its future on PS5?
-
Well, an "enhanced and expanded" GTAV will be coming to PS5 apparently sometime in 2021 so while a new "GTA6" may be coming at some point, I think it will be a ways out to be honest.

[Rumor] Big RDR2 News Could Explain Lack of Updates
Kean_1 replied to Kean_1's topic in Red Dead Online
IMO, yeah, I agree. I don't like those aspects of the game either but that's why I don't play in open sessions with randoms. .....and quite honestly, if it wasn't for the MTU trick on PS4, I wouldn't likely be playing GTAO solo at all. Luckily, there is a lot of other content to play with friends and since I can force myself into solo sessions, I have all the other businesses and nearly all the missions / activities at my disposal as well. If the PS5 version doesn't allow that, I may not be buying it. .....if it does or R* includes a solo / invite only mode that allows folks to access all of the businesses and related activities, I'll be all over it. I agree. They've all but abandoned updates for this game this year. ....although we will still have to wait and see what their future plans are if any. I'll wait until we get closer to the new consoles release dates and upcoming news on existing titles, remasters, etc. As for free aim, the shooting mechanics in R* games are generally too arcadey for my taste anyhow so the AA doesn't really bother me. It's the game worlds and the whole experience that make them interesting for me. Would I prefer more attention be put on the gunplay mechanics including more authenticity / realism? ....you betcha. However, without those things, free aim just doesn't bring much to the table for me in itself. ....but that's just me. Wishing they would shelve it and saying that it needing to be are two different things though which is my point. ......and it would be a bad move if they did given just how active GTAO still is. Also, we have no idea what the new "expanded and enhanced" version will include. I'm not going to judge GTAVs re-release on PS5 by downvotes on that YT video. We know all too well that could swing the other way depending on what the PS5 version looks like. .....and of course, there will always be detractors as there have been since the game's release. -

[Rumor] Big RDR2 News Could Explain Lack of Updates
Kean_1 replied to Kean_1's topic in Red Dead Online
Sad for who though? As far as being a "mess", then it's a very successful one at that. GTAO is one of the most successful examples of a GaaS model there is out there. They would be stupid not to continue with it. I'm not really fond of a lot of the mechanics in the game but that's just my opinion. It obviously still works for a lot of people and they cater to that. There's still a lot of stuff I like about the game and it is the only title I've had on my HDD since it came out on PS4. .....also had it on my PS3 and will likely buy it when the remaster arrives on PS5. We'll have to see what they improve. That would be nice as they have all but stopped providing updates or even status on future plans this year on the game. A huge update like that would be a welcome sight and a much needed shot in the arm if they are looking to keep RDO alive on the next gen. -

I'm not much for posting articles about speculation, etc. but given the lack of news these past few months, I figured, what the hell. .....just take this all with a big grain of salt. https://www.google.com/amp/s/gamerant.com/red-dead-redemption-2-ps5-xbox-remake-online-update/amp/ Big Red Dead Redemption 2 News Could Explain Lack of Online Updates Red Dead Redemption Online players have been frustrated by the lack of updates, but the wait could hint at big Red Dead 2 news. BY ANTHONY TAORMINA 1 DAY AGO For a while now the Read Dead Redemption 2 community has maligned the lack of updates (both news and content) from developer Rockstar Games. It has been so long that many fans have begun making memes and jokes about the wait and whether Red Dead Redemption Online might ever get new content. But while there has not been anything official from Rockstar Games, rumors and leaks suggest there might be a reason for the lack of Red Dead Online updates. And if these rumors are true, the waiting might be worth it. Red Dead Remake While nothing is confirmed, the strongest rumor is that a Red Dead Redemption remake is in the works for current-gen (and potentially next-gen platforms). There has been speculation that RDR might eventually come to PC for a long time, but that never happened. However, now it seems Rockstar is ready to give the fans what they want. What makes this different than just a simple port or remake is that this will allegedly be added to Red Dead Redemption 2. The foundation for adding Red Dead 1 content into Red Dead 2 has been in the game since it launched, with players able to visit familiar landscapes from the prior game. When players first saw Mexico and a few other notable locations, the assumption was that they would eventually factor into Red Dead Online, but instead, they have gone relatively unused. A remake of Red Dead Redemption would be a massive undertaking for Rockstar Games and is potentially what is keeping the Red Dead Online team so busy. If it is real, then the remake could also make up for the lack of meaningful updates to the game. Red Dead 2 On PS5, Xbox Series X Another possibility for the lack of Red Dead Online updates is a potential next-gen port for Red Dead Redemption 2. Rockstar Games has already confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 5 is making the leap to PS5 and Xbox Series X when the consoles launch holiday 2020, any many are wondering if Red Dead Redemption 2 will get the same treatment. Granted, Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of the best-selling and most popular video games of all time, and even though Red Dead 2 was well-received and sold well, it pales in comparison. Still, if Rockstar plans to keep supporting Red Dead Online through future updates (whenever they release), then it would make sense that the game moves onto PS5 and Xbox Series X as well. Like a hypothetical remake, next-gen ports would also occupy a lot of development time, as the studio tries to take advantage of the new consoles’ increased power. The hope is that these ports would be more than just the PC version running on new hardware, but even that would be an improvement for console. Gamers could find out relatively soon if next-gen ports of Red Dead Redemption 2 are in the works at the Xbox Series X event in July. Much like Rockstar chose to reveal GTA 5 at the PS5 gameplay event, it could share the wealth by debuting RDR 2 during the Xbox stream. Rockstar Games Could Announce Both It’s also possible that both projects are in the works and are keeping Rockstar Games busy. Next-gen ports seem like a given but whether or not the rumors about a remake are true is up for debate. There is evidence to support both sides, including a product listing for three different Rockstar games (GTA 5, RDR 2, and the remake). On the flip side, it’s also possible that Rockstar Games has simply dialed back its support for Red Dead Online. That would be the most disappointing outcome for fans and active players, but it wouldn’t be entirely unexpected. Red Dead Redemption 2 released almost two years ago and at some point, developers need to move onto new projects.

......but all this is not our fault so perhaps keep that in mind too.
