I'd be ok with free aim as long as it's just against other players. If folks also want that experience with NPC's it could be tied into the existing option(s) in the menu. .....but you're alienating a lot of players out there who prefer auto aim. Personally, I find the combat in games like GTA and RDR kind of jenky. It's one of the few that I leave AA on. If it were more refined in this resepct I might have a different opinion on it. I think FA lobbies would be the best bet like HuDawg has always wanted but R* is really against anything but Free Roam. Maybe they could implement FA like they do with the Defensive Mode. ....perhaps create a new mode that isn't defensive but will flip on FA for anyone targeting you and if you try to target anyone else (or vice versa).
-
Yeah, I'll never get the allure to ruin others experiences and fun like that. Personally, I enjoy PvP games and play them with friends. In fact, I have weekly sessions playing hardcore in MW with my PS4 buddies (for lack of better tactical shooters out right now on PS4). .....but I like co-op games even more and sometimes, PvEvP (but only depending on how they are implemented). The latter is essentially what RDO. .....and you're talking to a guy that also enjoys games like DayZ which has no rules but there's also no targeting, ability enhancements, bullet sponge mechanics, etc. RDO has plenty of opportunities to fight other players in the PvP mode like you mentioned but a big part of that are also cargo deliveries and various missions / activities. I have absolutely no problem with that and even enjoy those interactions. The player selecting the activity / mission is fully aware they can be targeted and their task is made public to everyone in the session. There is also a reward for the effort. With griefing, there is none other than some sort of odd gratification for pissing others off I guess, but I really have no interest in delving into their thought process so....
-
......you completely missed all of my points but I expected that. It's obvious you have a narrow view of RDO's content, activities and what others are talking about. The only reason I even mentioned any of that was because of your offhand "yawn" remark. You thanked folks for listening to you and then "yawned" when they shared their opinions. Anyhow, glad you love old games like DK. I appreciate the suggestion but I had my fill of the game from my frequent visits to the local arcades back in the 80s.

Even R* considers the latter part of that statement "griefing". If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, well...... ....but yeah, I will admit that it brings me some joy if griefers are discouraged by any part of this game including this new population change/issue. I have no problem with interaction but not when it involves random folks running around disrupting and killing other players for no reason other than for their own amusement. ....so when you say you are are bored now because it makes it more difficult for you to grief others, yeah...... It may not even require a remake. Many games will be playable on the next gen consoles when they come out regardless. A remaster may be in the cards but these games may already be able to take advantage of simply running on the next gen hardware. Either way, I have a feeling the drastic population change may be short lived. If this is intentional, they could be testing some things out. Unfortunately, R* isn't one of those developers who communicates well regarding such things so who knows.

There was an upgrade done to the forum software yesterday.
-
Actually, I haven't played in many months myself but if this limited player count is really a widespread "issue", I might just consider getting back into it this week.
-
No need to bet as they made that pretty clear when RDR2 released. Personal complaints/opinions aside, when RDO was rolled out it was done so as a beta and it was clear from the beginning that it would be a work in progress for a while. It was months after that the beta label was finally dropped albeit without any fanfare.

.......btw @FaTaL. Please don't post multiple threads on the same topic. I'm closing your other thread.

Seems to me most would be happy with that but I don't know. This is the first I've heard of it. Which patch are you talking about? There have been a couple since the last content drop.

Yeah, I feel that way too sometimes.

Again, it's all a matter of perspective. If the OP doesn't find the world engaging enough in RDO, then maybe it can feel like it's a grind to him. .....same can be said for the way you feel about CoD:MW. For me, MW is fun playing with my friends in hardcore modes. I spend most of my time with the gunsmith rather than worrying too much about my progress with the Battlepass. For me, BP is more of a long term goal and that all depends on what is available. I spend most of my time just enjoying the game and messing around with my weapon customization, leveling, unlocks, etc. .......btw, I also find the RDO game world engaging for some of the same reasons. There is a grind aspect to the game but if I didn't enjoy playing the game, I would have deleted it from my HDD long ago. ....same with GTAO, CoD:MW or any other game with rewards, in-game cash/purchase systems/ level unlocks, etc.
-
....guess it's a matter of how you blow off steam but a game like CoD:MW can do that too. ......and while these are two different animals as far as genres, the idea of grinding for rewards is the same. The new gunsmith is a perfect example of that where players have to grind for XP to level up their weapons which in turn unlocks new accessories. Then there's the Season Pass progression which unlocks freebies every 10 levels or so or you can unlock them by purchasing. There is a lot there but you have to grind for it. RDO is the essentially the same way. You have to put in the work to get the in-game cash and/or GB. .....or you can take a shortcut and buy GBs to unlock new roles, certain items and so on.
-
.....you're doing something wrong. Of course you have to grind for in-game cash and/or gold nuggets/bars. You can also buy the latter if you want to. If you just started playing RDO, of course it's going to feel a little overwhelming. Just start out with smaller goals buying your way through the essentials that you need first that will help you make more money and so on. That's just part of the game.

.....yeah, I really don't have a collection of westerns. I do like a lot of old ones though (50's - 60s) probably because I'm old myself. I do like some of the more grittier ones from recent years and found some of those from the 80's / 90s don't hold up so well (although perhaps were cool when they came out). Cowboys and Aliens..... That was one of those I had low expectations of and while it wouldn't win any awards in my book, it is still entertaining. Must be because I like sci-fi as well.
-
I don't know in that case. Perhaps it was a special item in the catalogue that is no longer available. .....although being T-shirts would surprise me.

Are you on PC? Could be a hack.
-
.......I'm on console. I stopped building PCs when I bought a PS3. I used to love the Operation Flashpoint series which were the precursor to the ARMA games. If I were still gaming on PC, I'd certainly be looking at games like SQUAD, ARMA 3, Escape from Tarkov, Insurgency, Hell Let Loose, etc. PS3 had a few good tactical shooters like a couple of the Flashpoint games that were ported, MAG and a couple others, but PS4 has been lacking. Ghost Recon Wildlands helped scratch that itch with it's lethal gameplay but still fell a little short although still quite fun in it's own right. We finally got DayZ a little while back (which started out as na ARMA mod) but unfortunately it's still buggy as hell. ....still, it's essentially ARMA combat which is cool but it's about as hardcore survival/milsim as you want to get (e.g. having to manually refill your magazines, clean your weapons, maintain food & water intake, etc.). Some think the new gen consoles will be the gateway to new tac shooters coming on board and I think they are right.
-
Too many to list from the past but from recent memory and still relevant to me at this point in time: RDR2 GTAVO CoD:MW (online) Ghost of Tsushima I'm really yearning for a good tactical shooter though. I am disheartened by the fact that the Insurgency Sandstorm console release delayed yet again but there are some promising titles on the horizon like Zero Six.

Colorblind / accessibility setting? Maybe you selected one that had an impacted on certain colors being altered like red.
-
While I can empathize with your problem, this is pretty common knowledge for PC gamers especially those playing GTAO or RDO. .....although it's a problem in other games too. It's a shame but I know it's also a never ending battle for developers. Some games are easier to curb this kind of behavior and others are not. ......some devs do a better job of it and others do not.

The more I play this game the less I like it
Kean_1 replied to [email protected]'s topic in Red Dead Online
I understand that. We all do a little venting every now and again. .....some more than others but we are all here taking part and interacting. I guess what I don't get is why someone would waste the effort explaining all that on a public forum and then never return to read or answer the replies. It's just a waste of everyone else's time IMO. It would have made just as much sense if they wrote this in Word, deleted it and then moved on with their life in that case, right? .....c'est la vie I guess. -

Pretty much. Joined 11 days ago, posted and hasn't bothered to come back. Why even bother if that's the case. I don't get some people.
