Should I buy a shot gun? If so which one?
The_Liquor replied to G IR U IB's topic in Red Dead Online
Funny you mention your shotgun enthusiasm in real life... I’ve been considering buying one of these for a while for the fun factor... since I started playing RDR2 I’ve been thinking of saving up to buy a pair... could be a fun at the range when I have my cowboy gun days... though I’m not 100% sure on firing a load of buckshot with my off hand lol... I can do two .45 colts and hit the plate often enough and quick enough to stay on the scoreboard at a cowboy action match... but they don’t kick like a strange horse when you rummage though the saddle bags. I wouldn’t call myself quite a shotgun enthusiast though. More of a general gun enthusiast that got on a little shotgun kick lately... I just wanted to expand my 12 gauge collection beyond a goose gun and a grouse gun. -
February 26th Update concerns & discussion

I played around two hours today. I saw plenty of red dots (maybe two posies screwing around) in and around valentine). I saw them from quite a way off. I tried to do some of my hunting circuits... that’s my biggest let down. It’s like there are no animals around anymore. I can’t say I noticed all that huge a price drop in the items I did sell (I’m not the best to make a comparison. I didn’t keep records or care all that much) but I’m not brining in near the same volume of wildlife parts and accessories to the dealer. I passed through valentine on my way to my camp, where the giant gunfight was going on. I got killed, of course, and parlay popped up right away. I like this, though this time I didn’t take the option. I got on my horse and rode while my would be griefer chased after and send a few bullets at my back. I was able to easily loose him by taking a cross country shortcut, so I can’t say the reduced blip rate is all that bad a thing. I was also able to cross paths with many of the blue and purple players, so I can’t say the world is all that empty feeling. Well, other than the wildlife up and leaving... overall, I didn’t find all that much to complain about in my brief post update visit. But I don’t play a violent psychopath style. I also didn’t try to fight my way out of the valentine situation I (quite deliberately) put myself in. I don’t know how bad the bounty system is for defending myself, or if it even applies when you go into the one on one or whatever system. -
I chose it for a character played by an actor that passed away last year. I also based my online character off him.

This wasn't griefing it was just disturbing

Well, I get the tactics. But I can’t help but think it’s like having to climb up on your roof with binoculars before you go out to decide if it’s safer to go to the corner store, gas station or grocery store to get your quart of milk... -

I shot a players horse. I was leaving a mission to fetch a wagon. He stepped out of the safe zone, took a cheap shot at my back (and missed). I turned around to get him, but he was inside the house and safe. So, I murdered his horse and called it a day. He was mad, but I figured he deserved it. That being said, I never shot a players horse unprovoked. However, the way you described the scene, I can’t help but laugh. Timing it so perfectly that it looks like your horse collapsed under the weight of the pelt... if it happened to me i’d Probably bust a gut on the microphone. Maybe it was uncalled for, and it was definitely grieferish behaviour, but can’t you at least appreciate all the effort he put into that gag? I would find something like this much preferable to getting sniped a split second before I talk to the butcher... Speaking of butchers in this game, does anyone else find it odd that visiting the butcher is about the most dangerous thing you can do in the west? -

Because sometimes you just wanted get rid of that pre adolescent who comes on the mic squeeking out profanity and racial slurs and trying to act all gangster while his mom is yelling at him in the background to pick up his toys... I mean sure there is mute, but they don’t learn anything that way.

I was doing a little hunting today and some fellow decided to come along for the ride. A flock of ducks fly by, so I start shooting them down with the varmit rifle... 3...4...5... then suddenly the auto aim snaps onto my hunting companion and I put one center of mass before I can stop the trigger pull... All I could say was Oops. We had a laugh then went on to steal some cattle.

I’d definitely get the pump. I haven’t really been wanting another, other than maybe a double barrel (more so for style than anything the stats say). I bought a pair of sawn offs and use them quite a bit in show down modes. Four shotgun shells as fast as you can push RT is very devastating in the tight quarters in most of those maps. The only time it doesn’t put someone down is if they get the drop on you, or you somehow miss with the auto aim. Plus it frees up an extra long gun slots and I barely use the pistols in show down. -
Lol... I kept riding in the opposite direction. I could have easily looked like a cowardly ambush and run, only I missed...

Yeah... I’ll have to take my virtual firearms safety more seriously.

Well, a lot of guys don’t give the griefertime to try and kill them again and go right into punish the griefer mode. And I know what my first thought would be if I was riding into the butcher and some guy whips out a pair of shotguns and unloads them into me... but i wasn’t really being serious. More just sharing an embarrassing moment.

I just bought a pair of sawn offs... i was riding out of Rhodes, I pulled them out to blast at nothing in particular... and as I’m firing off four shots I notice it’s suddenly right at another guy riding into town at a gallop. He rode on by, so if I hit him at least I didn’t kill him. But oops. I swear I wasn’t trying to kill you LOL. I wonder how many griefers are actually just normal players that just made a goof up like that then went into defensive mode...

Barely Anyone Is Finishing Red Dead Redemption 2
The_Liquor replied to NewsBot's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
Honestly, this game is the whole reason I bought a ps4. I’m not finished... yet. But I’m working on it as I have time. I started online as well. I find it’s much easier to spend just an hour or two playing around online than in story mode. In story, I loose all track of time and spend hours on end planted in the couch (sometimes without even getting to that next story mission I was planning on getting to). im also not a daily player. I’m a grown up man with a full time job, wife and children, a house, yard and several vehicles to maintain... and of course other hobbies. I wouldn’t be surprised if story mode lasts me well into spring. So far, I’m loving every second of story mode. Online, well, it’s fun. But people are di*ks... I mean I can get you want the easy kill, but can’t you wait just a few seconds more and blow my head of after I leave the butcher? You’ll still get your kill and everyone else would be much less annoyed.
