I was up near Wapiti and found a lone wolf, limping, I shot him and found he has an arrow sticking out of him, it turned out to be a collectible arrow head and it started a whole thing for my collector role, then today I found a deer near Manzanita post with another. I came upon a guy yelling at a wagon with his wife stsuck in it, it ran away and then tumbled down a cliff before I knew what was going on, I wasnt able to save her, but wow, how cool was that? I also keep finding a fire in the woods with 4 or 5 bandits that have a guy tied up to a post they are about to kill, you can free the guy and kill the bad guys for xp, and stuff, the dynamic stuff is amazing.

So excited when I saw that!! yay trains in New Austin again, lovi'n it!! Hmm, I reset my characters appearance, my daily consecutive streak still shows I am on day 88 or 89 that hasnt reset, although the payout is .5 now where it was 1 gold bar, so I am not quite sure why. Well, I think trying to balance the story mode mechanics with pvp was a challenge as in story mode time slows down and in game obviously it does not, so they had to do something to balance it a little, I havent played any pvp yet, not even sure that I will, I wasnt a big fan of it anyway, after they nerfed Never without one, I never played again. Nice!! Im glad to hear such a positive review, thats great. I havent seen hardly any trolls in the past 6 weeks, I did see one Tuesday but other than that one guy it hasnt been an issue. Matter of fact I keep my headphones half plugged in in case I see a player in range, I am able to plug in quick and say hello, I have gotten a ton of positive comments and met a bunch of friendly people, I helped a kid the other day for about an hour, this morning I met a guy just in passing, etc. I do not miss all the trolls. It is nice they fixed the remember your mode settings, so now if you were in passive mode when you left, you re spawn next time still in passive mode and I do like that. I had created a group specifically to hunt trolls and griefers and then suddenly never saw another, lol. I think now that EVERYONE can find stuff to do there arent as many bored angry players out there, even the noobs arent going around looking for cheap thrills it seems like 99% of people I meet are into their roles and work.

Hmm I havent had any connection issues are you sure it isnt on your end or on your isp maybe? I am not hearing a lot of people saying they are being disconnected. Either way Im sorry to hear it that stinks man. Yeah I agree, I was getting 1 gold bar per daily challenge I did, now I am back to .5 so that sucks, but with more to do its fine, I will get it back. I was at day 88 or 89 I think. I didnt know they nerfed Slippery, what exactly did they do ? I stopped using it months ago so meh, I really dont care, but I am curious what changed. It wont take too long to build it back up though so no worries, and now with more challenges available it will add up fast, I already made back over 35 gold bars since Tuesday.

James, I'm surprised that you havent played, I just assumed you would check it out. Well, it isnt life changing or anything, BUT many enjoyable additions to the game. They set it up to be a grind for each role, which I like, and there are special things. I am really enjoying that you can just stumble upon things in the world now that are collectible, tons of little things are making the game feel so much more alive and dynamic. After all the time you put in I figured you would be curious if nothing else, but no big deal to take a break either, it isnt going anywhere. There are some special things happening right now that may or may not continue but if you decide to check it out in a month I am sure 95% of it will still be there. There was nothing left to do except daily challenges until Tuesday and now with the club membership and the three roles, it feels very active and busy in game, like you have a lot of things to do and then even more things to go collect for yourself as rewards which just keep pouring in. I think in 2 days I have gotten over 30 gold bars, nearly $1000.00 and over 12,000 xp without grinding specifically for it, I just leveled up my new ability cards to tier 2 for example this morning, so it is flowing well and feels amazing, The clothes, outfits, weapon variants etc.. are also interesting, I like this bounty hunter outfit, but I also love these gauntlets, and horses. Anyway buddy, I hope you give it a look, I think after all the work and time you put in, you migth actually enjoy it. I am sure there are still things people wanted that arent out yet, But I really think they needed to get this one out first, later I think we will get more story missions, more story content within the free roam and tons of additional items, but for now this was a huge fix for many issues, everything is faster, more responsive, the outfits you can save to your horse and to your wardrobe has been fixed and you can name and save up to 10 I think in your wardrobe, etc.. so tons of cool fixes worth taking a look at.

I would Just find a method that you enjoy and get busy. As far as our question goes, Go to Pause, then Progress, then Story missions. From there you can select any story mission you want and play them as many times as you want. Good luck. Lump

One last thing. At level 10 I think you can get an ability card, the Dead eye card I think. The three that most people use are Slippery Bastard, Paint it black and Slow and Steady. The rest are either defensive or offensive cards and you get them every 10 levels I think? Level 40 you get the last one. So make sure as soon as you are able to, you load one because as you earn xp it will count toward the card and updating it. The cards start at tier I and go to Tier III, the update cost $350 the first time and take 10,000 xp to go from tier I to II, then I think it is $550 to upgrade them again and you need an additional 15,000 xp so it takes a while. So as soon as you can start a card, go ahead and pay the $50 and activate it so while you are leveling up you are also upgrading your cards. Also, it is very easy to go from level 12 to level 25 as you get higher and higher in levels it takes more XP to level up. I am at level 177 and it takes me 10,000 xp to hit the next level, when you are starting out it is closer to 2,400 so 4x as much later on, so during these early levels, grab those cards early as you can. You will do best if you do story missions first, and you can do them as many times as you want. Also, if you do the trader role, dont buy materials, do the missions to get them this way you get xp as well as role xp and you need both. Lastly, something I skipped completely is PVP you can also play pvp modes and they pay cash, gold and xp. The better you do the more they pay, this will give you a break if you get bored grinding, it will also teach you how to fight with others. They added free aim pvp servers so if you havent tried that give it a try. Those are going to be great for new players, dont rely on auto aim, if someone uses slippery it negates it anyway, unless you use PIB but I digress. The more you can learn about free aim playing the better a player you will be. PvP will let you learn a lot and keep on earning, some lve it and only play it, others avoid it like the plague and there are many people in between. Give it a try you may like it, also races, any of the pvp modes pay out all three gold, cash, and xp so its worth a look.

I started out with $10,500 cash, 255 bars of gold, I now have 115 bars of gold and $4550.00 I bought the three roles, the membership, two horses, a dog a stew pot, and a bunch of other stuff, I am on level 12 or 14 for the trader I think, 6 or 8 for the collector and I have only done one bounty, I want to finish one set of anything for the collector first then I am going to do several bounties in a row. The update included so many little things I am loving it. I made a new character, saved 5 outfits to my horse, named and saved 10 outfits in my wardrobe, etc.... Im just loving this whole update. What have you all you done? How much have you spent? After saving for the past 5 or 6 weeks I went shopping!! lol. I feel bad for the players that are just starting, I met a level 8 player today and he asked for help so I sent him an invite to my posse and spent about an hour with him, made him a couple hundred bucks and showed him around, all I coudl think is how I felt at level 38 when I almost quit playing and this poor kid was level 8 so I had to help. Only found one troll so far, was coming to McFarlanes from Armadillo and some dude shot a rider on the road then set up camp on the cliff, and waited, I stopped to see what was up and bullets started flying, I managed to get away, he was level 38 and doing what Trolls do, but he was the only one I have seen since the update. What he said ^^^ Shoot EVERYTHING, all birds, pluck them all, stow the larger ones, eagles, hawks, owls, and vultures. Learn where the chickens and cows are. Shoot every toad every muskrat, and every turtle, if it is alive, it has $$ on it, and you can carry a ton of them.

There is, but honestly, just get whatever you get, dont worry about it, they are all around the same. Best most expensive animals are Panther, cougar, Elk, Moose, Grizzly bear, Black bear, Desert Sheep, Rams, Pronghorns, deer, etc... Pike are I think 8$ each but you can only carry one, they are right near Valentine though so if you hunt down and back you can do like 20$ every 10 minutes, etc.. lots and lots of videos on youtube to make money in RDR2. Gators give you big game meat, dont sell it. craft it and add either creeping thyme, oregano or Mint to it and save them, they fill your cores, Bores geese and ducks give you animal fat, you wont need it for a while, but that makes exploding ammo rounds later on. Game = rabbits, racoons, coyotes, etc.. do your daily challenges, it will teach you where everything is and help you make $$ plus locate new animals while you are learning. My Colter routine made me over 10k$ very quickly and I leveled up 45 levels in a few weeks. Also, South of Shady bell at the water you can catch small mouth and large mouth bass, down about a mile at Catfish Jacksons you can catch trout, these all sell for $2. or $2.50 each, and you carry 10 of each, plus you can trample soome and pick those up or use dynamite and carry those too. In these two places you can do very well very quickly, Shady bell is good but you alwasy end up with others and some are good aome are bad, so its a risk, Colter is 95% yours alone if you fast travel from Tumbleweed or St Denis.

Yeah take the best gator pelt leave the rest. Skin everything you get BUT if you are going to give it to Cripps, he wont take skinned carcasses or plucked birds. so if they are for Cripps, just put the whole animal on your horse and bring it to him, you can carry one carcass and two smaller things on the sides.

Loving the update!! I saved up so I was able to get the club membership plus all three roles started, I do the collecting and hunting at the same time and then bring everythign back to camp for Cripps and head out again, when I get camp all set up and running well I go do a few bounties, then I open a new collector map and head out to collect whatever it is and hunt both ways for Cripps, and on and on and on, I keep running into unique situations, I found a guy screaming about the wagon that was running off with his wife in it, I couldnt get to it in time, so they went off a cliff!! lol I found a few situations like that, a deer walking around with an arrow in it, I skinned it and found the arrow was a collector item, also found one in a wolf. Ive spent a lot of money and gold though. So far Ive spent $4500 and 120 gold bars getting everything set up and buying many of the percs and rank unlocks, like new horses, a dog, stew pot, etc.. Also, I hadnt seen anyone talking about the daily challenges, but I noticed we now get additional daily challenges for the three roles, so I think 10 a day in all instead of 7. I am loving the ability to name my custom outfits and save I think 10 of them, and I can carry 5 of them on my horse plus 5 hats. The very first thing I did was create a new character, I waited a long time for that, and I am so glad they included it in the update. So many other things I cant even think of them all right now.

So here are some things you can do to help yourself and get set up. As far as hunting goes: At first you can use your lasso and a knife, just rope a deer, or any similar size animal and then reel it in and it will give you a "kill" option, this way you get perfect pelts everytime. You dont need any bullets or guns for this, it takes a little practice but you will get it quickly. If you really want to focus on feeding Cripps materials then your best bet is dedicate a session to either hunting or collecting and hunting so you do two things at once, if you arent doing the collector too then focus on hunting. Shoot everything that moves and I mean everything, give Cripps first crack at it and sell the rest to the butcher, it adds up quickly. Cripps wont take a carcass if you skin it or a bird that you pluck so if they are for him, just stow them. Now, all you need is a Varmit rifle and Bolt action to hunt, get the fishing pole at level 14 as soon as you can, it will let you earn 75$ every 20 minutes so you can build up some cash. Now for xp and gold and cash: Do the story missions in Online, the multiplayer story missions, they pay well especially the first time you do them, and they will give you XP. Then do stranger missions, the round orange icons on the map, if you want to grind for a bit to catch up, Spawn into Saint Denis or Tumbleweed then fast travel to Colter. The reason you need to spawn into the opposite side of the map then fast travel is so when you get there, you will essentially be alone and nobody will bother you while you are grinding. Once you get to Colter head to Sadie Adlers place, get a mission, then after you do it go to Flaco nearby, for another. By then, Colter will either be a hideout for you to clear and earn a ton of XP OR there will be a lady out front asking you to rescue her sister, again, lots of xp and money. Also, Benedict point near Tumble weed gives you simple hunting missions, you can earn well on the wolf one especially as it is close by and easy to do. You need xp as much as you need cash and gold and materials for the trader. Cripps isnt going anywhere so dont over focus on that, get yourself leveled up, get your ability cards, etc.. It is going to take some grinding either way. At your level you have a lot to grind for, Ability cards, weapons, horses, ammo types, etc.. We have all done the grinding early on so, but one way or the other you will need to do it, its fun and easy now though compared to when we did it so just get into your sessions, dont waste a lot of time, get rigth to it. Also I recommend you play the story mode, it will teach you EVERYTHING and it is important, it is going to be tough with no point of reference you can do it, but it woudl be a lot easier if you played the game first. LOL, there were a few things that I had a hard time finding at first but by today its all straight.

I found her initially she has an icon on the map, but once you go see her it disappeared and now I cant find her. So, I started both the bounty hunter and trader then I went and saw the gypsy lady and she gave me something to go look for, I had to go to three spots on the map and find these cards, now after I have done that, I cant find her, she isn't on the map anywhere. There is a daily challenge that says Sell x number of items to Madam Nadar, or whatever her name is, BUT I don't know where she is. Where does she go after your first encounter with her? Has anyone else tried this yet, or has anyone done today's daily challenge to sell her an item? I just gave up for now, figured I woudl take a break and post to see if anyone can help me find her. "There is a bug where Madam Nazar will not appear on the map but she will still be there if you go to her location in-game:" So I found my answer but I think maybe it is a good idea to leave this up for others, anyone who does the first mission for her is going to have the same issue.

So, I see an icon for Bounty hunter in Rhodes, and another yellow icon for The Collector out in Ambarino, But where do you have to go to start as a Trader? In the promo ad it showed a cutscene or two with Cripps but I cant seem to figure it out. I want to set up as a trader and start a business, a lot of items keep telling me, locked until Trader level 1, but nothing shows me where to initiate or how to start off as a Trader. Does anyone know? Has anyone gotten started as a Trader? Thanks in advance for any information. Lump UPDATE: Ok in case you were also wondering, I did find it. At first it wasnt in my game menu, but after playing for a few minutes and looking around I checked the main menu again and this time I now see a category for all three roles, so I dont know why they werent there when I first tuned the game on, but they werent, I looked very carefully, however, now I have a category for each role and I will now proceed to see if I can start off as a trader.

Rank 176 Gold 250 Cash $10,700 Not sure how many cards I have at tier 3, all of the ones I have are maxed out, But I noticed a few new cards today I want to try. What I dont see is how to begin as a trader, there is no yellow icon like there is for bounty or collector.

I see an option to "delete character" but I dont want to do that until I am 100% sure how to create a new character without resetting your progress. Has anyone done it yet? Ive been happy with the game all this time, just a little bored, really need new content, but Ive got 81 days in a row, then 1 day missed and 30 days in a row before that so out of 111 days ive missed 1. Lately I go in, do my daily challenges, clear any trolls from the server then bail to do something else or depending on what is going on sometimes I stay in game to level up, or get more gold etc. When they first announced the summer update and roles, I knew then, the two things I am looking forward too are making a new character and becoming a trader, I havent changed my mind at all since then, I am planning on doing exactly that in that order next Tuesday morning. I cant wait to make a new character I made my guy a little heavy on purpose and I learned quickly I dont like how he looks, the outfits and clothes dont look as good, etc.. So I am really looking forward to making a new guy, I own most of the clothes, I only bought a few outfits, maybe 4 but I own every other piece of clothing that has come out and I cant wait to see how my new guy looks in these clothes, after looking at this fat guy since March 14th I think it has been a long road

Well, my instinct was off about the release of the character customization option landing first, wishful thinking I suppose, BUT it is coming in a week!! I cant wait, Ive been hoarding gold, playing GTAV for bonuses in RDR2 and saving cash. Ive got 9800$ cash, 230 gold bars and just hit level 173, once I get the 54 trading cards in gtaV ill have the fee's waved for the three roles that we can try, trader, bounty hunter and collector. I was super glad to see they gave us the date and info at least. I hope in the future they dont announce updates so far out, it only makes people impatient. What roles are you excited about? I plan to do the trader first, that was my plan from the first time they announced it, I like the idea of doing something I have been doing all along anyway and expanding on it to make money from it as well as the perks that come with it. I cant wait til next Tuesday. I have an account snafu with my gtav/rdr2 so long story I wont go into it the current hurdle is finding those cards on the correct account so the credit goes to my active rdr2 account. On one account in gtav I have most everything you can have like the mk oppresor 2, which makes collecting those cards a snap, but in the profile I have to collect them in, has none of that stuff, not even a garage or a single vehicle, so now I have to go in and get them old school with a stolen car I suppose, uggg thats gonna take a few hours. I found 30 of them before I realized that if I find them under this profile, I wont get the reward to my correct rdr2 profile and so it is all for nothing, sigh. At the end of the day it is only 15 gold, but knowing I can get it for free is driving me to put in the grind and get those cards, save the gold.

So I was offline for about a week, but I wanted to ad to the OP that they are making several changes in game mechanics that might help with some of the confusion and a few of the issues you had previously mentioned and maybe after next week things will work a little better. Ive been running around with slow and steady, peak condition, strange medicine and come back stronger, these cards working together make it really hard to kill me. Especially if I add big game meat with spices, and charge the rings with tonics, I can take 10 shots from a Springfield when loaded up, I have a second load out for offense but for defense, the above works really well.

They initially announced the character thing long before the summer update, some of us had clothing issues with our characters and when I spoke back and forth to R* back then they told me watch the newswire changes are coming. Thej it was announced I thought on its own at one point, but maybe I am just remembering that wrong. Later they announced the summer update and yes reading that sounds like they balled it all up into one update. Again, time will tell. I too was expecting it all to drop at once, then it hit me, they dont have to do that, and if they arent 100% with the summer update, I bet they drop the customization thing on its own. Im just guessing, and thinking so who knows, but if we dont get the update tomorrow, I just had this feeling like hmm I bet we get the character redo thing in its absence.

I stopped playing the pvp after they kept nerfing our cards. You spend $950 on a card and upgrading it, then they change its effects making it useless, that was it for me, I dropped out and havent gone back. But in showdown, the best combo was double barrel shotty and Paint it black, deadly combo. Also dual sawed off's at close range are devastating. Anything with exploding rounds works great, I like the Springfield, but others prefer the bolt action, the Springfield is faster to reload and more powerful. Lastly the Lancaster was the best rifle for pvp when I played, I tried them all, but alwasy came back to the lancaster. I wasnt very good, I did win several rounds and got mvp many times, but whenever we played any other mode where you play as a team it sucked, noboday uses a mic and works with you, so it is just chaos, not my kind of fun for a multiplayer, so I just stopped. I dont miss it. A double barrel and Paint it black in large showdown was a sure way to do very well though, IMO

You can lasso a turtle and frog? I didnt know that I was trying turkeys, and stuff but nothing worked, deer were the easiest and wild hogs too. Those damn pronghorn are quick I did get two of them, I missed one in my post above, lol but man they were tough, the wild boars were the easiest for me. I tried the shoot them once first then lasso them while they limp, but each time they died to fast. I nearly gave up but kept thinking, its ok, worth 1 bar of gold. Even the redfin was a pain in the butt, I mean I know where they are and how to catch them, but you also get rock bass and whatever else too, but I managed to get the 5 pretty quickly.
