  1. Well, apparently there are a lot of freakshows out there, it took me forever to get a number like 9191 it would accept. Doubt it was me. I haven't been in a pvp that wasn't related to wagon defending/stealing in a looong time. Plus I absolutely hate that side of the map. I'm never over there. I hang out from tumbleweed to Valentine. And contrary to popular belief, I largely leave people alone. My character wears all black, gathered bandana, always up, with balloon goggles and only uses a Springfield. Any of that match?
  2. Yukon Nik is pretty good. Love hiding in the cabin and watching the bears tear everyone up.
  3. Yeah, cripps sucks. Always hating on my dog, moving camp, bad breath, having diarrhea out behind my camp from the spoiled soup, interrupting my peace with his inane stories and harmonica. I want to fire him, and hire someone else.
  4. Large distant wagons: I've lost 9 to rockstar DC's and glitches. 1 outright to a posse. 3 destroyed wagons with reduced pay to solo people I hesitated to shoot. Good advice from nshanny, if it starts looking like you're gonna lose it. Destroy the wagon. Make it more difficult for them to deliver it.
  5. Hey, no worries 73. I got rhino skin. It's a rather touchy subject I've found out. Lol. I figured there would be more into wagon theft game mode, based on every person I pass on a distant tries to jack me. but I appear to be in the minority. Otherwise, I play very honorably, and passively.
  6. Back when I used to do stranger missions, I had a few instances where I accepted a P.A. mission from Shakey in thieves landing. Target ended up being in thieves landing as well. there's a proximity thing at work. Probably picks targets that are at least in your state to begin with. And typically there's only 20ish players in a lobby, and they're spread out all over the map. so there's not THAT many people it could use as targets. I can't see it sending you on a mission from thieves landing if target was currently in Annesberg. Riding time alone would eat most of your timer.
  7. Awesome! Enjoy. Good choice. Work those cougar spawns. Much more efficient than running wildly all over for a deer. Quick info that might help. Materials bar: a full bar equals 100 "materials" Supplies: will need to be replinished every 25 goods that are produced. Goods: it takes 100 "materials" to produce 50 "goods". Goods are produced at 1 good every 2 minutes. Resupply missions: early on it's best to actually do the mission for supplies as opposed to ordering them, as you gain big trader xp for doing them, plus you'll get some bonus materials as well. And don't forget to participate in the "trade route" free roam event. You will receive up to 18 sellable goods for a fun train ride with a bunch of other players working together to protect supplies from bandits. Oh, also, you must buy the medium delivery wagon before it will let you buy the large delivery wagon. Wagon order: hunting wagon first, then your upgraded delivery wagons.
  8. I KNEW I missed one. Thanks liquor. The hallucinogens guy. I'll edit.
  9. Einhorn is Finkle Finkle is Einhorn!
  10. What's everyone think the best Legendary bounty has been so far? 1. Barbarella Alcazar- del lobos. 2. The wolf man. 3. The owlhoot family 4. Sergio vincenza - anarchist/sniper 5. Cecil Tucker- arsonist 6. Philip Carlier- hallucinogens 7. Tobin Winfield- politician 8. Etta Doyle - gang leader 9. Red Ben Clempson- train robbery. 10. Yukon Nik - trapper So far I have to say my favorite has been the owlhoot family. Due to having to go to 4 different sections, each with their own challenges. With Red Ben being a close second for me, love fighting on a train.
  11. I just hope in the next one you can earn your gold back. That was a really nice feature. Not entirely sure I would do it again if I really had to lose 35 gold.
  12. Logical, and I wondered about those situations as well. But...in this case, I was the leader.
  13. Sorry about it....I'm efficient at hunting animals and usually have time to kill waiting for cripps to need a resupply, or waiting for a friend who is about to need an escort themselves. I shouldn't have even replied, this is a thread for tips on defending/hunting wagons. But feel free to start a thread to discuss evil wagon people if you want.
  14. Yes! The 30 second rule. All stranger missions have a timer, and the longer you take to turn them in the more you get paid. And at 30 seconds that represents the max amount you'll get paid. The longer the mission timer, the more cash and gold is involved. Also, notice that most missions will have a safe zone at turn in. For example: when bringing a wagon back to valentine station for alden (assuming you make it back) when you get near the yellow drop off area, you'll see a message pop up in the upper left of the screen saying something like "you're safe from enemy's". At that point you can wait out the timer in peace and safety. You will be a shadow to other players, they can walk right through you.
  15. Collector is the most solo role. You can play trader solo, but you'll make a bit less money than you would if you had a teammate to help. Collector and trader pay cash. Bounty Hunter pays cash and gold, and you can participate in legendary bounty hunts. I love the trader role myself. Especially the stealing wagons part, lol. It's the most heart pounding exciting role to me. If you're new and grinding for gold and have no roles to play yet. Be sure to keep hitting up Alden missions. A 20 minute Alden mission turned in at the last 30 seconds will usually give about 44 nuggets of gold. PS, if you go trader and need wagon protection help, there are plenty here that will help. If you're Xbox I'm always down for a run.
  16. Hunting: I'm still figuring out the details of exactly when it's visible on your map. Example: I was with my posse mate in valentine when she noticed a trader wagon on her map near McFarland's ranch. Me, standing next to her could not see it. We were both on offensive, both level 20. Why couldn't I see it? These are key questions I'm working on answers for. If you can nail down the specifics of it's visibility, that'll be a huge help.
  17. 1. I was saying it was unreasonable to expect a posse to sit and ponder your intentions. You know you're a good guy, I know Simon's a good guy, but to a passing trader, they don't know that. 2. Sorry to upset you so much. With all my hot air , my arbitrary rules and unpleasantness and my uncaring enjoyment robbing viewpoints, while being the personification of all of the 21st centuries ills. I've only tried unsuccessfully to offer some insight on traders decisions and highlight why they do it so everyone doesn't get their feelings so hurt by a respawn. It truly is nothing personal. And the trader would be perfectly happy if they never saw your blip again. I know respawning is horrible and I feel your pain. My apologies Simon. I was enjoying the back and forth.
  18. A precision wagon stealing posse shoots the driver, because they want the wagon intact, as they are playing the game as the rival trader role. The average lone "minding their own business guy" shoots an incendiary round at the horse or wagon just to be a jerk. Instant $225 loss to the owner, and that's IF owner is actually able to hump all 4 bags in separately. A traders action can cost someone a respawn, a 10 second run back to their spot and $0. Attackers have nothing to lose. A traders inaction can cost themselves everything they've been working on and $625. Traders have everything to lose.
  19. If you select a weapon you don't get the fishing rod breakdown animation. And if they're in first person they can do the instant 180 turn. So within 1-2 seconds they can go from fishing to turned and shooting. Believe me I get it, people don't like getting shot while minding their business. But to think a posse racing to the finish should hang around, wait, and study the situation, trying to imagine what this player may or may not do is unreasonable. And yes we fully expect there to be a high likelihood of a pursuit after we take that shot. But we're ready for it at that point and have put some distance on them, and made a plan. Usually involves putting their horse down. We're just trying to get away and keep moving. Everyone should also take into account how many times traders have been burned by someone "minding their own business" there's a very good reason for the distrust.
  20. All I can say Simon is, even though you have no radar while fishing, you can still hear all the noise associated with a wagon run coming close by. The wagon, all the "yaaa's" coming from several riders, the crack of the whip. And will likely drop your fishing pole to see what's up. Plus, as a defender, I'm not spending a whole lot of time, researching the blip standing there. Can't afford to sit and wait, and study. Just stay at full gallop, take em out, keep moving. I make several deliveries a night, Everytime we run into a problem is when we played defense, not offense. We don't stay and harass, we're on the move. the worst we do is cause a respawn. 99% are gonna keep moving, racing to the finish. Usually before the shot, we're saying to ourselves "sorry, pal, nothing personal". I brought a guy we shot near his camp a cougar I had on the back of my horse once as an apology after the run.
  21. I would have helped him pick them up and run them in if I could have. I'll be a little more careful in the future. Didn't feel good about that one.
  22. We rock out over party chat.
  23. Definitely. couldn't agree more. Thanks to resources on good ol RDR2.org I've identified and exploited several sleeping cougar spawns that regenerate every couple of minutes. Takes me no more than 30 minutes of actual hunting to get enough materials for a full large delivery wagon. Cougars at 16.88 materials each add up quick. Need 200 materials total. And I haul 7 cougars back to camp Everytime. 5 in the wagon. One on my horse, one on a stolen horse from a nearby ranch in Cholla springs.
  24. You can remain defensive in local. And your wagon is not visible and advertised on the map, and players can't steal your goods. But....... You're still out in free roam and people can take you out. I actually did that a few days back. Saw a delivery wagon coming, shot the guy with an explosive. Killed the horse as well. Saw the goods bags on the ground and went to pick them up but couldn't. Realized then it was a local. He wasn't happy.
  25. I read somewhere that they had glitched it up out in the online menu screen.
