DylBandit
Yes it's true. For many people who don't know already, if you pre-ordered the physical version of the game, it does come with two discs. One disc is called the "Data Disc" and the other is called the "Play Disc". I'm pretty sure you just have to install the data disc once, and then you can use the play disc to play the game when you want. Kean_1
There is also talk of some possible delays for physical copies. A popular YTer mentioned that he got an email telling him that his PS4 copy will be 1 day late. .....his XB1 copy is apparently still on schedule. I kinda figured as much with R*s restrictions on retailers for RDR2s release. It's going to make it difficult for some to deliver on time to their customers. Yes I also heard about this, Rockstar is really cracking down on leaks before the game releases. What I think Rockstar is trying to do, is keep 3rd party stores away from the game, because they go by their own rules, and sometimes give people copies of the game by being "sneaky sneaky" and that's what causes major leaks before games usually come out.

Could this be the case with Amazon??
DylBandit
Basically just 3rd party companies like locally owned gaming stores. Official stores like Walmart, Target, and Amazon should get your game to you on time. Edited October 20, 2018 by DylBandit

This particular source I heard didn't specify but in his case, it was in the U.K. .....but as Dyl mentioned, this should only affect those that are not direct, retail channel partners (save for unforseen non-related issues). Distributors will not receive the game before launch with perhaps few exceptions. Personally, I would stick with the big brick & mortar retailers or someone like Amazon just to be safe. .....or buy digitally. https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2018-10-18-independent-game-stores-may-get-red-dead-redemption-2-late Edited October 20, 2018 by Kean_1

NewsBot
Following earlier reports that physical copies of Red Dead Redemption 2 for the PlayStation 4 will comprise two discs, we now have confirmation and actual pictures of the discs themselves. RDR2 will have a "data disc" and a "play disc", both on Blu-Ray. Photographed by KOFI, a YouTuber active on Twitter, the two discs feature distinct artwork. The data disc is adorned with artwork of Dutch van der Linde, while the other is decorated with art of Sadie Adler. Other than this, you only have your standard legalese, Blu-Ray branding and various logos. Last thing I’m going to speak on since people are just dying to know. Red Dead Redemption 2 does have a double disc. The first disc is a “Data Disc” and the second is a “Play Disc”. Probably have to just install first disc. Game does come with a map which I will not share. pic.twitter.com/VnIq2HF8zf — KOFI (@PressStartKofi) October 19, 2018 Recently revealed Japanese box art was the first sign that the game would ship on two discs. Those particular images also confirmed a few stats were known or suspected already - the 2-32 player online mode, 105GB recommended storage space and the PS4 Pro Enhanced nature of the game meaning it looks better on Pro devices. The question of the install size remains unclear though, with the box art, Microsoft's store page and Rockstar themselves all giving different numbers. What we do know is that the game will be big. KOFI indicated in his tweet that the game came with a map. It is unclear whether he has one of the special editions that come with a map, whether streamers/reviewers were given special packages with the map included, or if all standard edition physical copies come with maps. Red Dead Redemption 2's launch trailer was recently posted by Rockstar. It is customary to publish launch trailers well ahead of launch to stoke the flames of hype leading up to the big day. It also means that we're unlikely to get any new trailers of major press releases until after next Friday. Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on the 26th of October, less than a week from now, on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The post First Look At Red Dead Redemption 2 Discs appeared first on RDR2.org.
