In case for me, my thoroughbred available to buy again in valentine after some time, not immediately. However, my thoroughbred not dead, but changed to tenneesee after I died.

Rockstar support has acknowledged this, hopefully they will fix this soon

My war horse died and I cannot find it anywhere. I searched all stables on the map, this is plain bullsh*t. What exactly do they expect? Your horse should not die the entire time you play the game?

qhre have they acknowledged this? im keen to be reading the patch notes because this is silly..

For the people like myself, who bought the Ultimate Edition, entered the code, and made it to the stable mission in Chapter 2, but DID NOT have access to the Warhorse.....I have opened a tech support ticket with Rockstar support.  They said "Not to worry, we will certainly help shed some light on this matter for you."  They then asked me to upload a screenshot showing that I had downloaded it on my console. (PS4) I am hoping that they will fix this and will update the thread when I get a response.

I hear ya.  However, its not like Rock* didn't mention way early on that if your horse dies in game, it is gone for good. I get the frustration , but I also get what ROCK* was trying to do here.  The only thing you can do is create multiple save files and save often, that way if you do end up losing your horse you can at least, go back to a earlier save and get it back.

As a note, if you stabled your horse in one stable it isn't automatically available in other stables, you have to go to that specific one to get it. Like the garages in GTA.

I’m having the same issue. Bought the ultimate edition , my black thoroughbred died along with me . When I came back there was a brown horse. Said it was my main one. My thoroughbred is no where . Not at the stable , not in The for sale . I hope this is a glitch since we paid extra to get the horse . 

I hope rockstar fixes it or gives me my 40.00 extra bucks back 😡

I had an issue too and fear it was a permanent glitch. I had the preorder war horse and was auto ridding when all of a sudden I was jumped and killed in seconds. Once I respawned I had a totally different horse saddled that I had never riden. I checked the stable For my war horse and it had been replaced by this random brown Tennessee walker breed horse i had never been on.  I'm so pissed...

i have a code with my game for a warhorse and something else I think but not used it yet (too excited I guess)

i have been playing for about 8 hours. 

Am I too late to use the code and get the dlc?

I have the special edition guide book and there they say that the horses you get from the special and ultimate edition always respawns at the stable in Valentine. But mine is not respawning atm

I did not know that.. (must be a glitch)    I guess I have been lucky to not have had this issue with my Horse (pre-order war horse), I have died a ton of times while  riding it, or being away from it, and my horse is always right there when I respawn  or return.

Pretty sure some aliens took my horse cause I have still yet to find him. I checked the stables and everything. I feel like a moron. I said screw it and bought another horse for now.

This is not true, I was killed by a Bounty Party and I received the message "You have abandoned your legendary horse" a new one is with you. 

Granted I could go back to the stables and repurchase my horse for no money, but I lost my bonded 4 level status and perfect/3 star pelts on the horse. The horse didnt die, only I did. Previously it would be around my spawn point but this time it disappeared.

I lost my bonus thoroughbred when a different horse spawned at a mission with other gang members. No horse death, no Arthur death... just a complete replacement. I haven't seen my dear Pop-Tart since, having checked from time to time in various stables. 

My new steed, Mighty Little, is great. But I'll always have a horse shaped hole in my heart for Pop-Tart.

Just to add a positive note to this thread... i too went up to the mountains to fetch the white Arabian and i was so excited to have it i didn't pay attention to my war horse until i got to the stables and it wasn't in the management menu. I did several missions and camped a few times hoping it would show up like other horses have done but it didn't and i,, well, i missed him. So i went all the way back to the mountains to get him, brought him back to Valentine and stabled him.

I know it's not a help to folk whose horses are completely gone but if the "temporary" icon is present somewhere on the map, you can get the horse back even if you have to go fetch it.

As long you'r horse icon is on the map you can get the horse back. 
That's my problem here. There is a horse-icon but that's my new one. :-)

Yesterday I used my second special-edition-pre-order-bonus horse (Ardennes).

I jumped with the horse off a cliff and both died.
I went back to the stables in Valentine en TAAADAAA... My Ardennes was there.
So the system with the permanent horses (the one you get from a special or ultimate edition) works but just not with the thoroughbred .
So it's clear for me --> Glitch...

And i hope Rockstar gives me my Thoroughbred back really soon because I PAID FOR IT. :-)

Well, I got a reply from Rockstar finally.....they're telling me to FINISH chapter 2 to retrieve my bonus content, the Warhorse.   Funny how on their support site, when you navigate to problems for RDR2, it says "The Warhorse will be available once you have access to the stables through story mode progression." I replied and told them I have far surpassed that point in the story line and still do not have access to that bonus item.  Pretty sure I'll never get this horse.

They also stated you would be able to get it replaced, you would just have to start re-bonding with it.  Not lose it forever, that there is where the problem lies.

Good news -- my thoroughbred, Pop-Tart, was gone for a long time, but finally did re-appear in Valentine's stable. I had to re-bond, which sucks, but at least I got her... um, uh-oh, I mean him back.

I don't know if I can get used to Pop-Tart as a male.

For everyone that lost their special edition horse or warhorse, you should check if your horse was replaced by Tennesee ranch or not. If yes, then Rockstar suggest to put the Tennesee back to stable and change to other available horse, then the DLC horse should reappear in buy horse for free.

I think I may have found a workaround for getting the War Horse back. Go to Valentine go right outside the city with your horse get off of it throw a stick of dynamite underneath of it injure it if it does not die shoot it right after it's dead pick up the saddle and walk into the stable with the saddle.

My workaround was to refund the game, use the money to pay off my preorders, delete my RDR2 save files and wait for a bug free GOTY Edition. I know it's extreme, but dang it feels good.

I'll start over next year.

So after reading through this thread and researching other similar threads online, this is absolutley a glitch that I'm hoping Rockstar fixes!

I upgraded to a PS4 pro yesterday and after I did the whole data transfer thing from my old unit to the new one, I had the two dlc horses from the ultimate edition that weren't there when I loaded my game! They had the same exact names, but they were Tennessee walkers! Strange as hell! 

I went back to the stables in Valentine and elsewhere but nope, I can't "purchase" them again, it's not even an option! 

I then started up a new game and still the same issue. So as a last ditch effort, I deleted all my game data and reinstalled and they STILL don't show up, hell, not even the damn weapons!!!

The only real reason I even care is because I, like all of us, payed extra for the Ultimate edition and for what? Diddly squat.

So I start the game today, and my warhorse turned into a Standard Turd. Same name.  So I thought I did something wrong and loaded a earlier safe and sure enough it’s the same thing. Even my earliest save my horse changed but the name stay the same it’s like the worst was ticket out of my game completely.

 OK I just checked my other dlc horse and it’s gone too

I've also lost my Ardennes War Horse that I got from the DLC. I haven't checked all the stables yet, but as far as I'm aware he didn't die. I just loaded the game and I was on a Tennessee Walker with the same nickname that I gave to my Ardennes, so it looks like he's just transformed into a shitter horse 😔
