Horses kicking and killing you - Stupid as hell...

I'm getting pretty sick of trying to loot the bodies and then saddle bags on enemy horses and being kicked 1 time and dying. These horses are calm as can be and there is no way to stop the graphic of looting once started. With full health you can only take 2 kicks.

No idea why horses are made to kick and kill you so often, this is just retarded and annoys the hell out of me.

Shoot the horse.  A dead horse won't kick you.

Christopher Reeves would disagree with you.  Oh, wait, he can't....

That's pretty funny but although I havent tried it yet, I would imagine killing horses will lower your character levels - and I wasn't sure if you could still loot saddle bags if you killed the horse, guess I'll give it a try.

Christopher Reeves doesn't like horses and I think he won Dancing with the stars last week...

You can.  Although getting the horse turned over to get to the second saddlebag is a CHORE, but it can be done.

Yes, it lowers your honor.  No, I don't care about that now that I've unlocked the trophy for maximum "honor".  Kill a horse, do some chores in camp, and it all works out.

That's going to be the biggest issue then is getting to both sides, which I wandered about myself when you advised killing them. How exactly are you turning over the dead horse?

You can also focus on them and calm them.

In real life, a horse kick can easily kill you.

As Skysaw mentioned, you need to use the calm feature first.  I always check by engaging the horse first (L2 on PS4) and see if that option is available.  If not, then I pet it a few times just to be sure and even after calming it down.

I've been kicked twice but didn't die either time.  The first time I wasn't familiar with the calm mechanic.  The second time, I calmed the horse down but apparently not enough.  ....that's when I started to pet them after.  Hadn't had an issue since.

I have also used the patented Creed method and shot the darn thing if I didn't want to bother or was in a hurry.

I was not aware there was two saddle bags to rummage through... I was always one and done.  Although, the first time being kicked and knock down into the mud, was quite humorous.

All you gotta do is calm them down and then pat them. Lol not that difficult dude. After the first time it happened you didn't think that maybe you were doing something wrong lol? Do a little trial and error

I actually thought it was pretty funny the first time it happened to me, and was a realistic and cool little mechanic that plays off of the whole bonding with your horse thing and reinforces the importance of it.

Anyway, it made me laugh picturing some guy rage quitting after being drop kicked by a horse for the 5th time.
