So I've been playing RDR2 since launch on PS4 and my first issue is that my pre order war horse randomly changed its skin to that of the Tenesse Walker, which naturally annoyed me. Still haven't been able to change it back.

Secondly they removed Liars Dice, I hate it when gaming companies do this, massive step back by removing content that could so easily of been left. It's possibly my favourite mini game! And if they only allow it online then that will double annoy me as then why was it not added to single player?? If you tell me to play Dominoes instead, I'll shoot you in the face.

Thirdly, where is the justice in law, someone shoots at you for 0 reason and it ends up with me shooting my way out and gaining a bounty that I did nothing to initiate but still have to pay. But, of course, I was in the wrong.

Despite this I am loving it, great game and amazing storyline, give us back what is rightfully ours (liars dice) and I can deal with the rest. And fingers crossed for Mexico DLC!

NPC's for liars dice is too difficult to code, strategically speaking. Meaning, if you know the game, and use the right strategy, you will never lose a match.

Games like poker and dominoes have easier algorithms for NPC's to play realistically. Sometimes they win and their's nothing you can do about it.

This is why you'll see it in online but not against NPC's.

No idea why they removed Liar's Dice, but I didn't even think about it until you mentioned it.

So far as the unfair bounties go, well... things weren't necessarily so fair in the old West. If someone sees you shoot somebody, they might not necessarily know you had a good reason. Plenty of folks were and are still jailed unfairly, no? I know that doesn't necessarily justify the game mechanic, but thinking about it in those terms have really helped my personal enjoyment of the game. I stopped thinking "the game is unfair!", and started thinking "the law is unfair!" -- followed by "I'll make those suckers pay, dammit!"

I agree 100%.   I hate going into town for anything now.   This morning I was riding my horse through Valentine and of course some NPC  gets in the way, and although I tried to avoid them, I ended up getting a bounty for 'unarmed assault'.  Tried to surrender, and thought it was going well, until the Sheriff told me to leave....ok, so I'll leave.  Better than getting a bounty.  BUT WAIT! DO NOT leave town on your horse!!!  I was willing to leave, and my character even said "Ok, no problem", or something like that, and as soon as I got on my horse, 5 or 6 red dots show up and kill me.  And additionally, even though I died, I still had to pay the bounty.  Hate this aspect of the game.

Yeah I am very disappointed that Liar's Dice was removed. I absolutely loved it in RDR. Now we have card games and.....dominoes. DOMINOES! Seriously??? LOL

I'd be willing to bet it comes back in RDR2 Online, with the caveat that only actual people can play, not npcs

I get that, but to axe it completely from story mode instead or fixing it is disappointing, they had eight years to fix it!

Not at all true. As a coder myself, I can tell you with complete confidence that I could whip up a good Liar's Dice algorithm pretty quickly. Computers have been beating the very strongest human chess masters for decades now. By comparison, Liar's Dice strategy is nothing.

Honestly about a week in and this game is already getting pretty stale. The problems I am having is that all of the missions feel the same. None of them really feel all that important or epic. There is also absolutely no difference between trying to hunt legendary animals as opposed to regular ones. They are all fairly easy. Overall story mode feels rushed and simplified so that rockstar can fully get started and focused on the cash grab that will be red dead online. This story in no way so far feels as epic as red dead 1. Granted I am taking my time with the game to get my money worth and am only half way through chapter 3

This is where I am as well in the main story. People say that after Chapter 3 it really starts picking up, so we will see...

But I agree, RDR1 has a much more epic story. There was just a lot more going on.

How would you personally rate the game as i haven't played yet and you seem to be a critical kinda guy?

So you've just started to scratch the beginning of the game. Pretty much every review out there says the same thing, it takes a while for the game to really open up. Chapter 1 actually felt very epic and engrossing and was also pretty clearly a tutorial. Chapter 2 is pretty bland but it has a few exciting moments, but again, is more of a tutorial than anything else.

I read where someone said play the first two chapters through then start free roam and exploring in chapter 3 is that accurate?

Chapter two is where you'll be able to free roam. Though I guess you could ride off during Chapter 1, but I'd advise against it as you'd probably succumb to the cold weather as you know or possess very little to survive on. Chapter 2 begins with you at your camp, and from there you are able to explore but the missions in Chapter 2 unlock certain interactions and teach you how to do certain things. I'd say the game begins proper at Chapter 3.

I'm still in chapter two and it doesn't yet have the feel of what I was expecting. I've heard once you're into chapter three there's a better understanding and feel of what's in front of you so here's hoping.

The game is also very overwhelming. I've compared it to Netflix where there's so much to do and look for that you don't know where to start or which way to go next. Discovering the mysteries in some of the abandoned cabins is almost more fun than the story. I'm still at the point where I'm hoping those mysteries actually go somewhere.

I suggest only doing minimal free roam until chapter 3.  Do some, definitely, to get used to the slower pace of the game.  But mostly missions and side missions.  Chapter 1 is tutorial; Chapter 2 unlocks stuff.

And I thought a number of missions for chapters 1 and 2 were great fun and quite engaging :)

The bounty / wanted system is annoying AF and seems unfair but another way to look at it is perhaps the other guy would have got a bounty too, had you not killed him. It doesn't seem unreasonable in the Wild West in a he said/she said world, where any sign of trouble, everyone involved gets punished.

Now that I am almost at the end of chapter 2, I like this game more so than the first.....everything seems more polished and crisp than the first.😁 I am enjoying my journey.

Haha, yes I am very critical. But also logical in my opinions (i think).

Aside from a few things that really does sometimes spoil the experience for me such as the bad rendering on PS4 Pro, the lack of HDR and the heavy, cumbersome user interface and controls (especially when your character is on foot - he moves WAY too slow), this game is still an absolute phenomenon! It is slow paces, yes. The story is a slow-burner, for sure. But there is enough things in the game that is done unbelievably well and those things redeem the game for me.

The setting, the lighting, the environments, the way all the activities gel together so well...it is a truly amazing game.

But it is also let down by NPC modelling and animations that is sometimes done terribly. And I mean, TERRIBLY! Like crappy indy game of 10 years ago kind of terrible.

It's a mixed bag, really. A fantastically addictive mixed bag.

You have 4 slots in the stables for your own horses. The horse you are currently riding, and up to 3 more. You will have access to your horses at any stable.

I think they do sell different horses though, but I am not 100% sure about this.

I'm around 56% through, in Chapter 6 I believe and I'd say the storyline is absolutely amazing. Especially if you played RDR1. Also I often find myself simply stepping away from the missions and just enjoying the world R* has given us. The missions lure you back because you just need to know what happens next. But yeah, I dont agree at all that the story is stale, I'd say it's great so far, doing RDR1 proud!

You can also get a horse(s) in the wild and make it/them your own...

Yeah I went into Valentine and then straight to St. D stables and they had different horses.
