Don't buy horse insurance..

So I managed to grind out enough to get the gold to buy horse insurance, and now my horse totally disappears. The first time that I die, the horse buggers off and doesn't return. In its place, the Scrawny Nag. I can get my horse back by going to a stable, but again it disappears the first time I die.

It's frustrating knowing I've got a better horse than the walking tub of glue that I'm stuck with.

I've put in a support ticket about this, and will update when I hear back from someone.

Weird ... I had a similar problem but without the insurance.  Have you selected heal horse form relevant menu?

This was happening to me at the weekend, but didn't happen at all yesterday, think they're fixing it. I found another bug, I have the free Arabian, worked him up for races and set him as default for racing. But I happened to be (role)playing around on my big Shire horse when I entered Race Series and turned up on the Shire! I looked such a fool on the big mare, at a race!

Still won it though, which was even more satisfying, so I think I'll take her racing more often. It feels great punching someone out from up there, makes me feel safer, though she takes turns like a tank...

Yeah, I've had some quirky things happen with my Chestnut Arabian.  I get stuck with the nag more times than I care to admit now.  I really should have just stuck with the horse I had after the introduction mission.  It was a good horse that I had to sell to make room for the Arabian.

I had the same issue happen, but instead my horse disappeared after completing a story mission. I hope R* fixes this issue.

My wife is having the same issue. Plus it split her guns onto different horses so she never knows what she has. It won't let her put it all on one horse.

That's weird, I would've thought it would be based on the saddle and not the horse.  Does she have both saddled? If so, removing the saddle from one might help, pretty sure the saddle stays at the stable.

Good to know the purchased insurance is buggy, was close to getting it last night when I started getting errors, haven't had time to log on today.  Guess I'll hold off on the insurance after all.  I'm spamming the on-call for story missions and always have several revive pots anyways, so as long as I pay attention to it, I should be good until the insurance is fixed.

Also, not sure who this may help if anyone, but make sure you go to the quick menu (left on the d-pad) stables and change which horse get's summoned when you whistle during the different activities.

I do not have insurance, and my horse disapears every chance it gets. It has done that since release. Its the free arabian

Got a reply from the support ticket.. It actually says nothing of interest. 

recently got enough gold that I purchased horse insurance for my free horse theat came with the ultimate edition, and any time that I die, my horse dies too. Now when I try and call the horse, it isn't available, and just gives me the scrawny old nag. I've tried swit hing sessions, and the horse doesn't return until I visit a stable. It was returning without insurance, and that's the only difference. If this is a bug, then OK, but I would like either my gold back, or my horse to turn up as intended... Oh, and not dying without damage would be nice.

.....other than the fact that they say they are aware of the issue which in my opinion is good news.  I would suggest folks still submit their complaints if they are experiencing these issues though.

Seriously, though... I guess any acknowledgement is good.. It at least brings the issue to their attention. But that gold, man.. 

I had to delete the horse for it to sort itself, so I am out 5 Gold.

I know how you feel.  I just want my old horse back.  It was decent and at least with him, I rarely had to deal with the nag.

I am thinking the same thing seeing as I had an issue and now I don't as well. I am sure they will be making all kinds of tweaks and changes to fix bugs over the coming weeks. Likely want to have it up to speed for Christmas players.

So can I get my gold back? I had to delete the horse for it to work again. So I've wasted 5 Gold on something that broke my horse. But that's a fix to it at least... Deleting or selling the horse in question.

Yeah....  Instead of 5 gold bars the insurance for my Arabian was $150 last night so I bought it.

Also, I checked the stable option in the menu as someone mentioned and after paying the $4, my horse recall issue seems to have vanished.  ......at least in last night's session.

there might be a bug or something but I havent had that happen to me as of yet, but Horse insurance is very Important. I refuse to pay $4.00 every time someone kills my horse because I dont have Insurance. The bug that is giving me problems at the moment is the fishing worms bug.

Now insurance is about a $100 I think it's actually a decent buy.  Gold was too much, but now its good value, imho

Sounds like insurance now depends on the horse. Thoroughbred was $125 to insure. Guess it ranges from bout 100-150.

Ya, definitely worth it now, 5 gold was a terrible idea.

Definitely buy horse insurance if you are going to be a long term player.  At 4 bucks a pop it really adds up and for only 125.00 you are good forever. 31 horse deaths may seem like a lot, but spread that over a few years and its only like one death every 2/3 weeks.

Yeah, the gold for insurance was a bad move. Glad they changed it to cash. With the new economy, $150 wasnt a bad price for my Arabian.
