Is Buell unique?

The old veteran side missions were the ones that I really enjoyed.  It was great to be able to go out hunting and fishing with the old guy and see Arthur bonding and making a true friend.

I was as sorry as Arthur to see the missions come to an end.  Is it possible to get a horse like Buell (the veteran's horse?  I don't even recall what breed he was.

I was honoured to have Buell also as my friend as a result.

Except when he died on my after I foolishly left him on the railway tracks to post a letter.  I gladly threw away 8 hours of gameplay to go back to an earlier save to save him.

And then I got caught daydreaming by a gang and killed (as happens when you're looking for perfect pelted varmints).

I didn't mind so much as I get killed often, I lose a bit of time and a bit of cash, I get on my horse and carry on.

Except that didn't work out with Buell.  On waking up, I saw a strange horse wearing my saddle, carrying my gear.  Buell was nowhere to be seen, not even as a corpse I could mourn over.

I didn't really want to rehash the past 20 hours of gameplay since that previous save game, so I have my new horse.

But, is it possible to get a horse like Buell again?  I don't even recall what breed he was.

Man, I loved that horse.

That would be a Dutch Warmblood. They come in a few colors but if you do happen to find one, the stats won't be as good as Buell. 

If you are wondering, his stats are 5 speed, 5 acceleration, 6 health and 6 stamina.

save your horse in the stable, just put him in to save him.  Then if you lose him somehow and he doesn't die (horses don't return from the dead) he should be back in that stable.  I've had that happen with the legendary arabian.  Start a mission and have to drive a wagon, then the horse back at camp was one i caught with the saddle on.  Had to ride it to Valentine where i saved the arabian.

I had such a hard time finding these horses for some reason and I think they are supposed be common but def. aren't as good.

He is one of a kind compared to the other horses of the same breed. I wasn't able to tame him/keep him myself but someone else mentioned the stats up there.

Yes Buell is unique, one of my favourite horses in the single player. A must have. I think he may also be the biggest horse. Outside of the shires.

I took Buell back to camp and tied him to a hitching post.  As i moved on in the game where Arthur dies and you take over as John.  Buell was gone.  I actually had 2 horses at camp and lost both of them plus my staple that I used for almost the whole campaign, when Arthur died.

I lost Buell, I guess I should have taken him to the stables and left him.

How did you lose him? I actually thought I did bring him to the stables and saved him but I was doing a runner and he got shot. I assumed he would be back at the stable and he was not.

I took him to the camp.  Saved the game and went on to finish the story, saving several times doing that.  Long story short, at some point you can't access that camp and he was gone.  Horses I had in the stable are still there, but not the one from camp.
