Bolt vs Springfield

Ok so after some field testing, i think it comes down to this.

Pvp.  When free aim pvp becomes a thing, this shoulder cannon will blow enemys away. But right now it`s just to slow, and i would stick with the bolt.

Pve. Same thing, just to slow of a reload. Felt like i missed a ton of xp, because my pose would shot the bad guys first.

Hunting.  This is were the springfield shines, in my opinion the best hunting riffle right now.

So unless you are big into hunting, i would save that +300.

I love these generic names. The Springfield Trapdoor was in service from 1873 to 1894. The bolt action Kraig was in service from 1895 to 1903. Gee I wonder why that is? How about the 1903 Springfield on a whole different level that the earlier model.

The trapdoor would be my rifle of choice. A huge bullet (405gr to 500gr, depending on carbine or rifle).

As John Moses Browning said: "They never made a military rifle better...... Only faster"

The trapdoor is slower because it is a single shot, where the bolt action has a high capacity 5 round magazine. The trapdoors effect range was 600 yards, and the Kraig was 300 yards.

Pick your poison, slow and nasty, or a lot of shots down range.

It is all player preference. I have seen some players put in work with a Springfield in a gun battle. Springfield paired up Winning Streak and Focus fire is deadly. Especially if you aren't good with headshots. I prefer the Bolt myself but if I am playing more passive/defensive, I will use the Springfield. I try to play with all the weapons and not just one(ie Varmit only users). I prefer Springfield for hunting too.

I use the Springfield quite extensively.  It's deadly and I like it a lot.  ....way more than the bolt action but as mentioned, that's just preference.  Maybe I need to give the BA another shot?

I also prefer the Lancaster over the Litchfield.  I like the speed advantage that it has between shots in both hunting and defense.  ....but again, I could end up changing my mind.

Other than the Varmint Rifle, this is one reason I like the weapon balance in RDO.  When people are choosing weapons based on personal preference, specific tasks, etc., you know you're on the right track (IMO).

I agree. And every weapon can be countered. So it you have the proper Ability Card set up, you can frustrate the hell out of a Varmit spammer. Slippery Bastard is also a friend of mine.

Lancaster locks on faster than Litchfield. Its funny , cause I loved Litchfield in story mode but Lancaster in online. I even put a scope on my Lancaster. The Bolt is fun and it is a headshot magnet. Just make sure you count your shots so you don't get jammed up in a long reload animation. Springfield with Express rounds is nice as well. So when players are flopping around like Muddy Mud Skipper, 2 body shots will do the trick.

Yeah, I use Express rounds almost exclusively in my weapons.  I really haven't played around with the High Velocity ammo.

You bring up a good point about lock on....  There are a lot of aspects to the gameplay mechanics R* doesn't talk about and/or make easily known.  Seems a lot of these "little details" have to be passed on by fellow players like tribal knowledge.  I really wish they would make more of this stuff available in a tutorial, a guide, documentation ,etc.

I like to use HV ammo in my Carcano sniper rifle for hunting from a longer distance.
