No chance but you can still enjoy the game at low level and work your way up as dying has no consequence and there are only so many griefers out there. Its what I did, having picked the game up several months after it became available. In your world a level 1 still has little chance against other players since you place such value on game experience and there are more people out there with OP weaponry.

My point was there will be more griefers when it doesn't take any commitment to the game to have access to all the good stuff. While you can never eradicate those people who 'just want to watch the world burn' you at least reduce their number by making them have to put some time and effort in.

I got killed several times last night with no consequence. However, the last death by shot to the head also blew up my horse and I lost several *** pelts. I guess  that is a consequence. If I were better equipped, I may have had a better chance?

Updated:

I stand corrected. I think the last death was not shot to the head. It was server drop. Sooo, maybe there are no consequences for dying.

What exactly is a griefer tho?.    R* games are open world Free For Alls.   A griefer seems to mean many different things to other people.  To me, a hostile player is just a player to battle.  And is always been a part of R* open world games.  The real problem is lack of private lobbies..

Im a high level.  I don't care.. I would prefer all weapons/ammo/items be locked behind money at the vert least.. Not rank.  Rank is bullsh*t.

Well why should a HIGH level get the OP weapons and the low level shouldn't.  How does that make any sense.

That's like being a kid joining a football league.  And that kid ain't allowed to wear a Helmet, Shoes, Pads.. NOTHING till he spends a specific amount of hours getting his ass kicked.  Then when the finally gets enough brain damage and broken bones, now he can wear the pads and helmet and shoes..

A Wild West open world action game without hostile players.. Is comparable to a my little pony adventure simulator.  Would want anyone to reduce their numbers?  Griefers are needed in this game.  And so are private lobbies for players who don't like hostile player interactions.

At the same time.   Higher level griefers revel in the fact that low level players are easy pickings due to their lack of weapons and ability cards.

The game has 3 types of players in it. Sheep, Wolves and Sheep Dogs. You need all 3 to make the game enjoyable IMO. Not everyone wants to be a sheep. Some like to be Wolves , but there are always Sheep Dogs around to check them. I think everything balances out well. You remove all the wolves from the game and the Sheep Dogs may start to turn because they are bored without the wolves to hunt.

It's the truth and the whole truth !

Locking weapons behind money is pretty much the same as locking them behind rank. How do you get money? By playing the game. But how do you do that in your world when the playing field again is not level? So your argument has to be that everything is just given away and then people just play shooting everyone else because that’s the only point to the game anymore.

The kid in the football league analogy is ridiculous and nothing like what I’m suggesting or what the game situation currently is.

I’m not advocating a Wild West game with no hostile players at all - another exaggeration - there is a difference between hostile tendencies and just being out to ruin everyone else’s game.

Can't compare earning money to items locked behind ranks.  Especially in this game where gold can bypass rank locks for many items and money gets the shaft behind rank locks.

Also the fact that money makes sense..  And exp is a slow, boring pointless grind.   It takes day or two to earn couple grand and plenty of ways to earn money.  It takes a hell of a lot more time grinding exp.

Im not saying give anything away.. Im saying level/exp rank locks make no sense in a game where PVP is a constant thing.  Make it a money thing, as it should be.

Free Roam missions.  PVP is involved.    Most of the content is pvp game modes too.

And speaking of pvp game modes. I think R* got off on the wrong foot.  I think ability cards where a mistake.  Being able to use tonics and food in pvp modes also further unbalances the game modes.

When I play pvp game modes.. And everyones low level.  I strut right into the damn thing like The Terminator, soaking up bullets and killing everyone.  That should not be happening.    I miss RDR1 online.  Everyone was on equal footing in pvp game modes and we had aim specific lobbies.  It was simple and it came down to the best players winning.

I always wonder why players feel as if rank means something.

Like its not enough to have a better grasp of game mechanics and more REAL in game experience then new players.  They need to have bigger advantage when it comes to in game weapons too.   Making lower levels or newer players nothing but mindless fodder.

I don't feel like its a slap in the face at all.    Since locking things behind ranks is kind of bullsh*t.  Im all for cosmetics being rank locked.  But not weapons or abilities..  Not in a game that's mostly pvp.

Once again I have to say it, it sounds like your playing the wrong game.

Why are you playing a game with auto aim for it's PvP experience? Your complaints are mainly directed to the unbalance nature of your PvP experience in a game that is obviously not suppose to be taken seriously as such.

Every PvP game I've ever played has rank unlocks.

Take cod as a classic example. You unlock extra, perks, weapons and kit as you rank up. I still remember grinding in cod ww2 to unlock the mp40 with optical sight, then the m1 carbine.

I've always liked the idea of a system where at rank 1 you have everything , then as you rank up you progressively lose access to stuff,  until  at rank100 or  whatever you are restricted to the most basic kit.

That's the way to level the playing field.

This is rockstar trying to get people to spend all of their hard earned cash and gold... then, once they drop the spring update, with all of it's nice, new shiny toys, people will be broke... rockstar hoping people will resort to having to buy gold bars or get people playing and grinding again to earn the cash required... reeeeeeks of desperation

myself, I would be interested if the items were half price... i'll just keep grinding levels and cash and buy them as they unlock naturally... not sucking me in rockstar

Hate to say it but I was getting this feeling too. I don't like the idea of them pandering us for money to buy items in a beta game. If it was fully developed, fine but this does seem awfully desperate.
