Freakshow9191
Come on NFL, NO ONE wants the super bowl on Sunday evening. Towards the end everyone's checking the time, worried about getting ready for school and work the next morning. Ugh. So much better to have it Saturday, with a good Saturday night after party to follow it up. Is there some commercial/money reason they don't? Do you think it'll ever change? Kean_1
......I dunno but I haven't had to worry about getting ready for work for the last couple of years.
buttlint
I always had to be at work the Monday following the superbowl. It was always a busy day following the weekend. My choices were: Go to a party and pretend to be an adult. Go to a party and party. Stay home and pretend I enjoy it. I did all three. Being a Detroit Lions fan, the superbowl is just an abstract concept and meant for the joy of others.

That is where everyone pays the most for commercials, SB or not. There are other reasons as well, I just can't remember off the top of my head. HIGHHorse
Sunday is the tradition. A lot of people call off work on Monday or take it off. Everyone knows about this and many places expect it. Super Bowl Sunday may as well be a national holiday with how people celebrate it.
buttlint
I could be the only one in the room that cares about this, but Drew Magary, one of my favorite sports writer ever, asked the same question. Magary was one of the writers over at Deadspin, that walked out and closed down the sports blog at the Onion. The old staff put together a temporary (3 day) blog on another site. Here is the link for anyone that likes his stuff. https://unnamedtemporarysportsblog.com/you-shouldnt-get-the-monday-after-the-super-bowl-off/#more-
Parzival
I haven't had TV service September, so I couldn't watch it if I wanted to regardless of what day it's aired. Not that I'd want to, mind you. Those overpaid, entitled buttplugs have ruined it all with their political crap. No one watches football for politics and to hear some hypocrite with a seven-figure salary bitch about inequality. Hell yeah man! I stopped when this stuff started. I have not watched a single game since. I watch sports to unwind and forgot about crap like this, not have it rubbed in my face. The No Fun League really stands up to the name. I hope they tank even more. I am going to give the XFL a chance when it starts.

I am going to give the XFL a chance when it starts. It ended up working out for McMahon with these protests and the backlash over them, I'd say. I enjoyed the XFL in its first run (of course, at the time I was still a die-hard WWE fan, which these days I'm not anymore), so I'd be willing to give it another shot. Assuming I can ever afford TV service again. Unlike Colin Krapperneck (is that not his last name? Like I GAF), I don't get paid millions to sit on a bench all day and instead now rely on food giveaways and assistance programs (which Donald Trump and all his cronies rail against as "communism" 🤬) to just keep the lights on. Oh, wait, I don't qualify for assistance programs because I'm literally a few dollars above some arbitrarily low minimum income level. Being white probably plays a part in in, too. After all, I do live in California... I'll do myself and everyone else here a favor and end this rant here, though I could frankly write an entire essay about it.
