I haven't been active on the forum or just active in general as far as gaming. I've enjoyed my time on Red Dead Redemption 2, but I'm currently at a point in my life where video games keeping getting harder and difficult to find time for. I've pretty much played everything I wanted to play, and knowing the PlayStation 4 is coming to an end of it's cycle, I've made the decision to get rid of my PlayStation 4. Now, before you think I'm giving up gaming as whole, you are mistaken. I've been having great interest in getting the PlayStation 5 and I'm definitely looking forward to the next generation coming in the very near future.

I've met so many great people on this forum, so many memories during the release of the game, being able to take on a moderator role and having the opportunity to help serve the community in every way I could was a great honor. Much has happened recently in my personal life, but I'm here to say I'm still here alive and well. The world has tipped upside down for a lot of us in the most recent months. However, without getting off topic I just wanted to say that I will be browsing on the forum here and there as I do still believe Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the best, if not the best game I've ever experienced, so there is still a great passion for the game and the community deep down in my heart. I'm hoping R* will be able to enhance the game on the PlayStation 5 and make the experience that much better.

Since I've been inactive for an extended period of time, I'm curious on everyones current thoughts on the game still. Has anything changed? Have you lost interest? Are you waiting for next generation? Did you start playing something else instead? Are you still having fun online? Did the experience better or worsen?

I haven't played RDR2 for many, many months but it still stays installed on my PS4 along with GTAV.  .....I actually spend more time with the latter.

I'm also interested in the PS5 and I'll likely be purchasing as soon as they become available.  I'll keep my PS4 for my kid and /or as an entertainment center for watching Netflix, hulu, Amazon Prime, YT videos, blu-rays, etc.

RDR2 hasn't had any updates for a very long time.  .....just the weekly bonuses, discounts, etc.  Many have lost interest in the game and in fact these forums have been quite dead.  R* had plans for RDO and I have to think that if it wasn't for the COVID situation, we have seen 1 or 2 updates by now.  We'll have to see what happens though.

Remember, there are still announcements to be made regarding the next gen consoles and according to Sony, that will include more information on titles.  Even R* will likely be providing more details on the "new" GTAV so perhaps they have some news that they have yet to share on RDO in relation to its future on PS5?

I'm getting the PS5!. I've played on the Xbox One and PS4. I think the game just needs some new content. Haters love to put out Red Dead Online is dead but nothing could be further from the truth. There is no shortage of players any time I play.

R* would be silly to release Red Dead Online for a short period of time and just abandon it just like that. R* has spent so long and many people have worked really hard on that game to just throw it all away on the PS4. I think Red Dead Online will go along the lines similar to have GTA5 went about. If you look back and remember, GTA5 was very limited, with performance issues on the PS3 until it went into the next gen consoles. Once GTA 5 reached the next gen consoles, it's almost if R* had completely went full go with the game with support as well and the game just did way better on the PS4 than the PS3. I think the same thing we could possibly see with Red Dead Redemption 2, although the game isn't perfect on PS4, I do believe to see a much more better performance and improvements on the PS5 most definitely and I personally think R* will give the game a big haul full of updates once the new console comes out. This will benefit the game by better hardware, faster speeds which will enhance the experience entirely. R* may promote the game again when it comes out on PS5 and I think we should all be excited for the future. I don't think there is going to be an end for RDR2 anytime soon!

I couldn't agree more. However, as I said to Kean, I believe Red Dead will go along the same lines as GTA5. When the GTA came out on the PS3 it was limited, not a lot of updates, performance issues etc. Once GTA 5 went into the next console, it was like an entirely different game.

Just to be clear, I'm not hating on the game or suggesting it's going to die. Fact is, none of us know what's in store but I do have a feeling they will do something with it on the PS5s release.   ......and as I said, we still haven't seen everything that is to be announced as far as new titles, remasters or other plans.

Personally, I think the next few months will be a good indicator depending on what we hear. I do hope there is a bright future.  I'd like nothing more.

You aren't kidding. I really think the future is bright for this game. R* isn't one to just fully abandon a game. Just look a GTA 5 for example. They are still actively supporting the game going on almost 7 years now.

I have also not played RDR2 in a few months.  I'm also finding it hard to find console time beyond a couple of games that don't need sound or speedy reflexes (I stream the xbox to my tablet while my partner watches TV in the evening sometimes).

I'm also finding there's a lack of really nice story-driven open-world games on Xbox recently.  My partner used to like me playing RDR2 as I spend much of it riding through glorious vistas and there's just nothing around to compare to that these days.

I've been watching a few YouTubes of Death Stranding, Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tshushima and cursing my lifelong loyalty to Xbox.  I really don't know what direction to take - buy a PS5 and junk my gamerscore, or continue with Xbox.

I really go hope that R* will remaster RDR2 for the next gen and do it properly.

Ghost of Tsushima is a really good game.  They say they took inspiration from RDR and it shows.  It's got that exploration aspect to it with random events and side missions, etc. sprinkled in with the story missions.  I'm really liking it although I'm trying to finish Days Gone first which I finally picked up about a month or two ago at a big discount.

Where are you in the story so far?

The horde in the cave after meeting with the Nero guy.  Have to do him this favor before he will help extract the main character and his wife.  I just have to get through the horde.  This is the one aspect of the game I don't find enjoyable where it forces you into these situations that result in me dying over an over again until I find a way a method, pattern, etc.

The mission where you have to find the NERO team that went missing and fight a Reacher for the first time?

When dealing with hordes, Molotov cocktails are your best friend. Try to funnel them through narrow spaces and toss your Molotovs in when you do so. The Freaks will just run right into the flames. Also try to stock up on stamina cocktails. What guns do you currently have? I can probably tell you which is best for hordes from among them.

Whatever they did on the back end recently has FINALLY stabilized my connection enough that I can grind for 4-5 hours online with maybe one disconnect.  So, I've been immersed in the game for a few weeks now, finally playing catch up and having a ball doing so.

And I let my son play as well.  Probably not the best parenting decision ever, but I figure if he's going to be gaming, be needs to play GOOD games, and not trash ftp titles that make money with ads and mtx

The refining that's taken place in the last year or so has made a huge difference, too.  I imagine posses are more fun now than they've been since launch.

Yeah.  I've been watching some gameplay walkthroughs and Xbox really doesn't offer the same kinds of games except for a few examples that are on PS4 anyway.

If I do move over to Playstation, I'll lose the chance to play Flight Simulator on the console.  But that doesn't really matter as many Xbox games are also on PC.  A big-ass external GPU should sort me out there, I think.
