Question for site owners

Love the RDR2.org logo!. Do you think one day you will have shirts with the logo on them as way for those who wish to support the site?

I would be willing to pay up to $25.00 per shirt as well as any additional shipping cost.

I would need check if we can use the logo in that way. Also would you want the text RDR2.org as well, or not? I am not fussed either way.

Then I would need to look at options how to get it done. I remember it being quite easy to setup printing t-shirts these days.

Part of the issue is licensing.  Because Red Dead Redemption 2 is trademarked by R* in multiple jurisdictions, I imagine it's variants are as well.

That's Take Two Interactive's filing for Red Dead Redemption, including tee shirts.  Now, with how Corporation friendly US law is, I suspect that if TTI wanted to challenge the use of RDR2.org, they'd be successful.  Copyright claims, especially related to IPs are very protective and have a lot of safeguards against derivative is similar sounding names.

Which isn't to say that it can't be done, but it may behoove anyone considering something similar to entertain only attempting to profit off of original content, like user posts or art (much of which is protected by fair use).

I'd be fine with that.

But maybe there's someone at Take Two that can be contacted about it? Like, "Hey, I run a fan site of RDR fans called RDR2.org and want to make some shirts with our original logo and the name 'RDR2.org' in order to support our community. Would this be something Take Two and Rockstar Games would take issue with?"

The website sells gear produced by independent designers and operate under a "fair use" policy where it comes to copyright.

The last paragraph here assumes that deigners have obtained permission (so Redbubble doesn't have to).  You'd reasonably assume that most people don't bother.  The sheer amount of designs available seems to imply that R* isn't agressively chasing down copyright infringments.

I was thinking the site URL to help promote the site but if this is a conflict of interest with R*, then it could be left out.

Hi all, yes we definitely couldn't use any part of the official Red Dead Redemption 2 logo or anything like that - it's all Rockstar's IP, including the words.

That's why said it might have to be our own cowboy emblem only.

Most of you have pointed out too, while the URL would be nice (maybe to promote the site), even that might be iffy and it's a path I'd rather not go down TBH.

The logo on a shirt would be awesome.
