Truth
How do YOU avoid it? Sometimes I get a shitty order at work and don't feel like doing it right away. I used to go to the F13 forums, but now I try to kill time here instead (not that I have much of a choice). Not very much discussion going on though, so I've also spent more than I should have on amazon lately lol
dIV4r
Avoid it? I need it lol If I try to avoid work, I won't make money. I guess you mean slacking off? Not an option for me. I'm a driver so unfortunately, the only slack off time I get is at red lights or on my lunch break.

Can't imagine how you COULD slack off... Like you said, you don't really have the option. Now I kind of feel like a dick lol

Luckily, I tend to have all my work assignments available days or even weeks beforehand. As soon as I get in for the day, I check emails and messages, then DIVE into my assignments and finish them quickly. That really leaves me the rest of the day to do whatever. As soon as I get in for the day, I check emails and messages, then DIVE into my assignments and finish them quickly. That really leaves me the rest of the day to do whatever. That's a good way to do it. The way things work for me: I get an order for something. I have a certain amount of time to do it depending on the order. I get the order done (usually early) and I can screw around until the time is up. I punch out, package the order, and grab the next one. Nowadays I'm more comfortable than I should be screwing around before and after doing an order. I can slack off and no one really cares. They know I'll bust my ass when I need to and I'm the guy they send out (rarely, but when necessary) to fix things in the field. A few weeks ago I got to go to a customer and swap out a joint on a robot. Most days I can screw around a lot, days like that I can barely squeeze in a smoke break. I also work for a smaller (family owned) company that's made it very clear they have no intentions of letting me go. Besides that, The owner literally told me that they don't like firing people. They would rather have a shitty employee that barely knows their job than fire them and get someone competent.

The work never stops here. Finish what you've got on your plate? Here's a big ol' pile o' fecal matter with your name on it. Heaven forbid someone else actually does their job! Glopez
Most days, I just zone out and get my grind on. I work 50/50 in the office and at home. My days spent in my home office are obviously a lot better than when I have to physically go to work. Maybe next year I can work on staying home 24/7. Freddie Mercury
Had to call in sick today, I've got one of the worst fevers i have ever had I woke up shivering, coughing, stomach was on fire, and myhead was spining like crazy. Got my phone and called in explaining why i couldn't go in today, afterwards i tried to go back to sleep. No chance of that happening, so i got up. Had as much breakfast as i could, got a quick shower. Done the usually stuff like brush teeth, shave etc. Got dressed and I've just been siting in my house all day, dying from this fever, my boyfriend tried to take a day off so he could take care of me, but his asshole boss wasn't having none of it. That's been my day so far, i guess you can say I should be happy i got out of doing a days work. But dealing with a fever was not on my schedule. I'm a Painting contractor for KT services, i was suppose to be decorating a house today. Had to call in because i couldn't do it, so. They had to send another contractor out to decorate the house. I know a lot of people talk about it being good for the immune system but it really is. I had that swine flu that was going around like 6 years ago or whenever that was. I drank tons of orange juice and water and took ester c tabs. I felt like I was dying but was 100% by day 3. Truth
Damn @Freddie Mercury, hope you feel better soon... We just had a really shitty cold go around at work. Took me a week to start feeling better, but I also quit smoking.

I smoked for 13 years and finally quit 16 years ago. Sure, I'll still have a cigar on campouts a few times a year, but that's the extent of it. I'll tell ya: it'll really suck for about a year. Then, the smell of cigarette smoke (especially in peoples' clothes) will NAUSEATE you. It's awful, and I'm embarrassed to know I walked around smelling like that. Proud of ya, Chief. Keep on it.

I appreciate it, but I honestly don't see this lasting. I didn't want to quit. I just recently moved out on my own and I'm still figuring out my finances. This is all totally new for me, so the extra $150+/month expense (cartons are are over $100 here so I had to drive out of county to get them for ~$70) is worth cutting out for now. I guess I should say "I stopped smoking". We'll see how it goes. At the very least, I won't be smoking until I know I can afford it. Still, it's all I can think about at times lol Edited September 14, 2018 by Truth

Still, it's all I can think about at times lol The way I quit was, I switched to a pipe. Yeah, like a tradinional "grandpaw pipe." I bought a cheap one, and pipe tobacco is mega-cheap. It gave me some fulfillment for smoking, but it was more maintenance to fill it, light it, keep it clean, tote it around. I started smoking less and less because of that. After awhile, I just stopped wanting to fool with it anymore and mess up my pipe that was clean. Might try that. Worked for me. (and hey! You'll look sophisticated!) Same goes with smoking pot, never bothered me at all (though these THC cartridges they have now are SOOO handy). That's really not a bad idea... I always liked the smell of pipe tobacco, but I never tried it.

Archbell
I'm at work right now, only got an hour or so to go now though. I get payed £9 and hour to stand around and stay vigilant, that's all I have to do. It's not too bad, gets a tad boring at times but that's the case with most jobs. TheHansonGoons
At my current job, I smoke to avoid work. I frequent Bloody Disgusting and Twitter while on smoke breaks. I had quit for two months back around Valentine's day. Once it warmed up though I wanted to best the heat of the kitchen and step outside. I start my new job on October 1st, so we will see how I deal with it there. I feel like I will end up quitting soon again. At least I hope. Either way, I usually look at what new horror movies are coming out and scope out reviews. @Freddie Mercury feel better bub! Lots of juice, water and as mentioned, Emergen-C. @Truth i hope you continue to not smoke. Its an expensive habit thaT makes us stink and shortens our lives. No need for you. The just getting in my car cig and the after meal cigs were the hardest times of day for me.

Can't disagree, I just enjoy smoking. I drove out to a friend's place on Saturday like an hour away. Usually have 2-3 smokes on that drive... That was difficult as f*ck. Instead of smoking, I just never stopped hitting my vape. Edited September 17, 2018 by Truth
