  1. Whilst free roaming, I felt the urge to kill and skin an Angus Ox, whilst doing so, the farmers weren't too happy and started to shoot at me, I killed both farmers and I manage to pick up a special hat from the dead farmer, I then thought I would check out the sheds and barns to see if there were items of interest to pick up, like cigarette cards and lotions and what have you, I came across this disturbing scene as you can see from the screenshot. What was the most horrific/ disturbing scene you have come across so far?

  2. May I ask why you don't simply forgo obtaining the items? I'm still in Chapter 2, and have obtained both the volcanic pistol and varmint rifle for free because of in-game actions that were unintentional as part of the base version of the game. It's going to happen to you later in the game if you complete certain tasks/events. All this option does is merely accelerate the timeline. If you're objecting to their inclusion on some sort of moralistic grounds, then there's nothing you can do about it apart from exercising some self-discipline and not purchasing them for "free".

  5. When investigated did you run into a trap or predator of any sort? There are faceless voices in the swamps north of St. Denis that when investigated lead you to gators or some other sort of peril. I just attributed it to the voodoo/haunted lore of the region. Perhaps this is the same....

  6. People are making fun of my Legend of the East outfit all the time and I can’t blame them. It looks like sh*t, except for the vest. I wish the boosts were active when wearing something else.

  7. Camp around the N or the E in New Hannover and save your game, head west toward the Dakota river on foot and creep around the rocks that surround the river banks. Woodpeckers, Robins, Cardinals, Sparrows, Bluejays, Songbirds, Oriolles and even the odd eagle or too will spawn randomly on the tops of them. I personally like following the river north as it seems to have more spawn points. Protip: Using your binoculars usually causes them to fly away (stupid mechanic imo) so just use a rifle scope or aim your bow to find out what bird it is.

  8. ......*Saint Denis. I think it's also fair to acknowledge that some players are simply overstating their experience though as a few of the explanations I've heard have clearly show they are takking a hamfisted approach to the game. I'm not saying that is necessarily true for all who have complained about the bounty mechanic but I also believe that at least a portion of those players are a victim of their own actions. .....in other words, the game is working as designed in those cases but it's simply a matter of either not understanding or not wanting to understand how it does. The bounty, detection and witness system is more complicated than some know and quite frankly, R* does a pretty lousy job IMO at describing it for players. ....with information scattered in tips, etc. within the game or sometimes not at all. I posted the following in another thread but thought it might be of some help here as well. ......and this doesn't even cover all aspects of these mechanics: There is a method to the madness and deeper than some understand. Here is a pretty decent explanation https://www.dexerto.com/red-dead-redemption/how-to-never-get-a-bounty-in-red-dead-redemption-2-wanted-system-explained-218399

  9. So last night I was heading to strawberry..... Now I looked at the mini map and surroundings to see if id possibly come across a new random encounter but couldn't see anything. I didn't hear anymore dialogue between the two and couldn't find any other clues. Has anybody else heard this too?? If you don't know the location I'm referring to to I'll post an image. I've been browsing the forums for a while, and haven't seen anyone mention this, so I thought I'd finally make an account and ask! Cheers!

  10. I just robbed the last store that you can rob and tested the holding L2 and using R2 method. You hold L2 down and then tap R2 once very lightly and Arthur pulls out his gun and aims it at the shopkeeper.

  12. It wouldn't surprise me either, definitely a DLC id enjoy, spent a lot of time roaming round looking for paranormal type Easter eggs such as the ones you've mentioned. Wouldn't say no to more. I've been back there today, heard no voices this time, couldn't see anything using eagle eye either

  13. "Learn to Play"? Was "Git Gud" too trite? No two players have identical synaptic potential or eye-hand coordination. I'm middle-aged, and would get absolutely annihilated in an FPS when going up against a 15-year old kid doped out on ADHD medication. Strategy and planning can only do so much. And "noob"? What is this, 2002? Edit, I'd be willing to bet that more than half of the people who use "noob" can't even tell you the etymology without using the ol' Googlemachine to get an answer. Because they're "noobs"

  17. .....talk about a movie that doesn't hold up to time. It was cheesy back then but so bad now. Funny how I remember exactly what you were talking about. 😄 Captain Bennett has to be one of the worst bad guys in movie history especially paired against Arnold. .....as if we're supposed to believe this overweight, out of shape Australian was a match for Matrix. I guess the chain mail was supposed to help sell it. 🤣

  18. I don't wear masks, no need for them with the bandanna already in your inventory. I get the blood comments coming in from hunting, get told i need a bath, etc. Only time i've gotten a hat comment was wearing the beaver hat from the guy that i knocked out and stole it from. Get lots of comments about my horse. Oh and if you're attacked by wolves in the road, and just blast them away without a care for skins, then the people passing by while you're moving them off the road will make fun of your hunting skills.

  19. I did the EXACT same thing... Didn't notice too many women in the area, so I can't really blame them for being like that... That was probably the most action that dude has gotten in a while.

  31. Pearson will only take pelts for crafting that are needed. So unless your elk pelt was a perfect elk pelt then he will have taken it as funds for the camp. Only perfect 3* pelts are any good for crafting. But if they are perfect then you can give them to Pearson one by one or many at a time until you have enough to upgrade the satchel. You also have to buy the leather workings tools from the ledger for $225 before Pearson is even able to craft anything.

  32. I kind of like bounties. I like the challenge of wave after wave trying to kill you because, without the bounties, the game wouldn't be so action-packed, it would literally be do anything you want without having trouble, and to me, that would get boring. I need good gunfights.

  33. I cannot believe I FINALLY found an answer to this. The exact same thing happened to me in exact same spot as OP. Thank you! You wouldn't believe how many Legendary Fish Guides came up instead a solution to this problem. I had to make a profile just so I could say Thanks.

  34. I know this is basic knowledge and you might already have checked that, BUT I had the pamphlet for poison arrows in my inventory and just forgot to read it.... If you don't have one in your inventory and the place you went is the right place but it isn't there, I got mine from a random encounter, around the Bayou area. I found a guy acting all drunk and puking, helped him with a health cure and he warned me about the Orleander Sages, how they are posionous and he gave me the recipe for poison arrows.

  36. The shotgun from that list that is at #22 comes from a hermit that comes out of his house and shoots at you, not the devil hermit. I got it the other day. Upon further inspection of the article, number 22 and number 20 are talking about the same gun. 22 is a picture of the gun you get from the hermit shack, the name for #20 is the correct name and location but the picture is the default double barrel.

  37. Red dead is an open world survival game and one of the primary game mechanics is the ability to hunt, fight, or kill any entity. The fact that he chose to execute a feminist multiple times is not evidence of any underlying hatred or bigotry toward that group in the same vein that if I upload a video of me massacring every man I find; that is not indicative of any underlying misandry. If you declare any group to be a protected class, say feminists then you set in motion a slide down the slippery slope of complete and utter censorship. If Youtube removes any channels that kill feminists, what happens when someone uploads a video of themselves murdering every Black person they find and the media have an equal reaction? Surely the same arguments apply, surely rules should be applied universally? Then women? Then who's left? Complete and utter freedom is always preferential to restricted freedom, you're advocating for the former. A while ago Pewdiepie dropped the N-Word while live streaming and as a result of that; a hit-piece from the Wall Street Journal bemoaned Youtube's promotion of racist content. This resulted in a lot of advertisers pulling funding from Youtube, putting even more financial pressure on a site that is one of Google's biggest financial sinks. Considering you're not even aware of who Tucker Carlson is I doubt you would have heard of the recent controversy surrounding an alt-right podcast that ran a charity stream for Children with cancer. During the stream close to $30k was raised and some of the guests made edgy jokes about the holocaust, again the Wall Street Journal wrote a hit piece, attempted to get advertisers pulled and also pressured the charity to refund the donations due to "hatred and bigotry", which they did. Youtube likely concerned about avoiding another PR nightmare immediately terminated the channel and banned him on all their platforms. The controversy surrounding Red dead 2 also surfaced at the same time as this, as did the ban. Removal of his channel was not due to TOS violations, it was to avoid advertisers pulling even more funding. It was a purely financial decision not a principled one. If you search on Youtube right now not only can you find ISIS propaganda, promotion of terrorism, pornography; but pretty much all content which is in violation of the TOS. The TOS is little more than a tool to remove of any liability from youtube in case of legal action.

  38. Spoiler: I'm British! But I'm very jealous of the American Constitution, esp 1st and 2nd amendments. Again, I'm pretty liberal. for my own country I'm an anomaly.
    1 point
  39. That's not bias, that's being an American. The First Amendment is kind of a big deal, that's why it's the "first" one, and not seventh or eighth. Unfortunately, because ISP's are not regulated like utilities, and because companies/corporations are considered "legal individuals", they retain fundamental rights as well. Among those is the right to restrict speech on a platform due to First Amendment privileges (which is convoluted, I know, but these are the times we live in).

  40. If we're not careful this will turn into a political debate rather than an RDR2 thread. But, since i can't resist nailing my own colours to the mast, however briefly, I'll just say that I mostly disagree with PZA because I tend towards favouring something like an internet bill of rights because I feel that tech monopolies (like YTube and Twitter etc) are de facto public squares/utilities more than private companies at this point - and when you factor in de-personing by internet hosts, search engines, and tech payment options (Google, Paypal etc), as well as politically motivated physical/financial de-platforming/censorship by mob veto, then you have entered the realm of unacceptable large-scale censorship and the erosion of free speech. Obviously, as a free-speech fundamentalist liberal/libertarian I'm very biased!

  41. Agree with this 100%. This is not GTA or COD. Its Red Dead Redemption 2, and these are the mechanics of the game. They won't change so you'll have to. If you can push forward a bit further money won't be so much of an issue anyway.

  42. Best advice: Start with the following mind-set: go slow; be good; act like reality. You are an outlaw on the run, not super-rambo. Pay off bounties ASAP. Always keep a reserve cash and items fund for this. Don't shoot the law - surrender or hide. Don't go anywhere you're wanted. Flee, hide, pay bounty off. In towns, hitch horse and walk slow. Don't antagonise, walk away from fights. Increase honor. I would probably not change play styles until after completing the story and hitting max honor, but at least don't mess about until chapter 3. Much easier that way.
