I find that my effectiveness increases with alcohol consumption and judicious use of a shotgun paired with tactical advances aided by suppressing fire.2 points

WHAT A DAY: I'm proud to report that yesterday, Aces & Eights inadvertently got into a simultaneous firefight with two posses. We defeated both. Our team strategy has evolved and is about to take another leap forward. Kudos to the expert marksmanship from @BurbonChaser and @DistilledGary2 points

I play games for the graphics and the better they get the better I like them, from Zaxxon, to Goldeneye to Half life, to Crysis, to Veitcong, to cod ww2, to RDR2 has been a heck of a ride. I love this game so much, I played through the story mode quickly, then replayed it to go slower and find all the things I could, then at 94% complete and story 100% I decided maybe it would be cool to get and play rdr again, its been 10 years, I really never played the story, I tried the game and it was cool, but I never really got into it too much. I thought it would be cool to keep going with the story and play it now as a sequel, well let me tell you, Rockstar did such an amazing job with rdr2 that it is really hard to go back. Im trying, Ive done a few missions, and I am free roaming, it is neat to find stuff I found in rdr2 while free roaming now, etc.. but all in all I can not get into it, it just lacks so much of what made rdr2 awesome that although I want too I just keep thinking about how great EVERYTHING in rdr2 is compared to rdr. even picking plants, it is so detailed and specific now, in comparison I am having a tough time enjoying the rdr stuff, I just keep thinking of how much it lacks compared to its prequil sequal release. I wish I had stuck it out 9 years ago when I had the game on my 360, I think I am going to go for a third play through over playing rdr1. Honestly I would pay a premium for rdr1 to be redun with the new engine, so it looks and plays like rdr2, I would 110% buy it all over again and play it all over again, there is so much to these games, I just feel like the first game would benefit greatly, more people would play it and the sequel would make a lot more sense. Anyway just my day dreaming fantasy for today, I cant say enough about this game, it literally took over my winter, I havent played another game in months or left my house unless it was necessary, I opted to stay in from the cold New England weather and play RDR2 until I dropped. If they added a feature to hang people, to use your lasso for many other things like tree climbing and stuff, I think rdr2 would be perfect. It is a game changer, I cant imagine playing an open world game any less beautiful than this, I bought far cry 5 and havent even looked at since the day rdr2 was released, I started fc5 but after a day of exploring, I got rdr2 and now it just sits there, my fav game cod ww2 hasnt been touched in 3 months, and that was my daily go to. Thank you for the awesome game!!1 point

That is a very attractive look that I've seen on some characters. I got ganged up on by 4 dudes in that style and I couldn't even get mad at it lol. I did spend like 30 minutes on character creation, I'm still not completely satisfied, but it'll do. My current favorite is the light blue paisely vest (i had arthur wearing it most of the storymode so it's mostly sentimental), white rolled up sleeves shirt, black bandana, the ultimate edition gunslinger hat (black with a feather, really need that trapper to come into the game maaaan), fitted jeans, some boots i can't remember what they are, but they look more feminine. And I mean I thought we had a bunch of melee weapons as it is. But yeah I would like to see some non blade melee weapons though, ngl. And to be able to set traps other than dynamite. Fightin tactics right up my alley right there.1 point

Literally read that in Will Arnett's "Lego Batman" voice. I will admit to restarting my online character about four or five times for the right facial look, and spending some of the free gold R* provided for the "shirtless with black overalls and flat cap" look that I was going for (he looks like an 1890's meth head but with better teeth). But the only thing I ever shop for now is the occasional resupply or a new weapon. Speaking of new weapons, would it kill R* to add in some more melee weapon variety? I would love to use a shovel, myself.1 point

Ya it makes no sense.. Same logic applies to co-op missions. Co-op missions have 4 people.. all which use auto aim. Its beyond boring due to everything dying in seconds...because of the auto aim. And on top of that players are punished for breezing through missions. R* logic seems to be.. Make the game simple with auto aim.. and then punish players for easily blowing through everything.1 point

I guess one of the bigger issues I am having with this game is finding a consistent posse. Usually when on, the ones that I like to roll with aren't always on. So I use random matchmaking to meet other players. Some have been cool and others haven't. I add the cool ones to the list and just try to ignore the others. Even if my gaming schedule is generally set, others aren't and makes it tougher to meet up to play. Edit: Seeing how I do have some issues with joining clans, that usually comes with too many rules. I tend to stick with meeting players the old fashion way.1 point

🤣 I never saw a difference in the 'stability' of the Arabians, black or white, being any worse than Buell, or any better. I used Buell off an on long enough to get him to level 4 bonding and he'd buck me off if a pack of 3 or 4 wolves were chomping at his feet just like either of my Arabians would. he'd shy away from snakes and gaters just like the Arabains. The arabians would sit though an 8 man bounty hunter shoot out just like Buell did, they'd all prance and show distress but that was about it, unless the bounty hunter group was larger with 3 dogs, then any of the 3 would buck me off if I didn't shoot the dogs first.1 point

It's a mixed bag, to be sure. One way you can circumvent this is to select mission-based matchmaking. It will (most likely) place you into a group of goal-oriented players who are looking to do the missions for XP and cash, so the chances of encountering griefers or trolls is reduced because the amount of work required to successfully troll others in a mission is beyond the attention span and/or patience threshold of your average troll. And every once in a while, you get a group that's mic'd up. THAT is when it gets fun.1 point

Some missions have different dialogue and cutscenes depending on if you've done certain other missions or not before them. A couple examples:1 point

seems just like the old rdr1 bounty system for me. i will enjoy it. hunting red bounty skulls and sometimes being one. its all good.1 point

It doesn't help that some other actions are tied to the same buttons. I've punched horses, had misfires, etc. and still do.1 point

I've accidentally shot someone who coincidentally was trying to help me. I let him kill me and said it was unintentional. I also told him to loot the bodies and I left. I don't know if he heard me as he never spoke a word. I will say however that if that were me in your scenario getting shot at, I likely would have immediately retaliated. Just the fact that you didn't engage after the mistake should have been enough to show that guy that it was accident though. After the update mistakes like that are going to cost you.1 point

Well, a lot of guys don’t give the griefertime to try and kill them again and go right into punish the griefer mode. And I know what my first thought would be if I was riding into the butcher and some guy whips out a pair of shotguns and unloads them into me... but i wasn’t really being serious. More just sharing an embarrassing moment.1 point

Yaaaaahoooo! I really wish to thank this community. Rockstar didn't give me jack when I bought the game. A link to here would have sufficed. I restarted 3 times as I learned the game. Now, thanks to you all, the best game ever is fun again. I tip my hat (A Stetson of course) to you all. Peace1 point

Maybe get one of your current members to set up a 2nd posse and then you can mosey on out as a group of up to 14? 😉1 point

PS4 and Xbox are now over 5 years old. Why write or rewrite games for a console that you know may not be around in 2 years? Maybe save your killer box set for the next gen of consoles? (Red Dead 3, 2 and 1 with 10k graphics and a machine that can push it.) We all waited 7 years for RD2 and I would bank that we would pay whatever Rockstar would ask for the box set. Why sell it now if you can wait a couple of years and make twice as much?1 point

There are 2 situations about this: Your Posse You can have 10 members in your posse. Once you reach that limit you have to remove members from your posse in order to invite others. This is actually confusion as there is warning or error message for this situation. To make the situation worse, your invites will simply not go through. No error message on both sides. Not you and not the player you want to invite. The invite just vanishes. You need to go to Posse -> Members -> Tab 2 or 3 times -> Select a member -> Kick Posses you're in You can only be in 3 (i think it's 3) posses at one time. Once you've reached that limit you're unable to be invited. You need to remove posses from your list. In order to do so, you need to go the menu that lists all posses in your session and select those showing 0/7. Those are the ones you're a member in. There is actually an error message for this situation. The person trying to invite you, will see a lock symbol with a message that you're not able to join him because you're in to many posses.1 point

In a persistent posse you will probably have to remove some offline posse members in order to add the other players because posse members retain their position in persistent posses even when they are offline. I don’t know of any other work around at the moment.1 point
