On my 3rd playthrough, and absolutely loving it. Long story so I wont bore you with it. What I have noticed on this play through while I am more focused and less overwhelmed are all the litle things I missed previously. Uncle showing his ass around the campfire and mooning, I think Marston, I forget, comes to mind, or one of my favorites, who knew Sean and Karen hooked up? it was really funny, they got together in Marstons tent, and after a little dialogue had a very short interlude, that left Karen unsatisfied, and Sean talking about his, "Sean Jr" lol It is these moments, I moved too quickly in previous attempts to play the game to really take notice. Fishing with the guys, taking pics of the group interacting while Arthur watches from a distance can be great fun. I went out of my way to talk to everyone at camp mutliple times a day when I am there and at night, and listen very carefully to everyone that will talk to you. It is the little things that really make the game, the small details, the Agnes Dowds of RDR2, little hidden stories with clues everywhere if you pay attention, but the camp/group interactions are my favorite.3 points

Yep, I am in my third play through, and loving it more than ever. The first time I played the game I really didnt understand how open world games really worked and what game developers were capable of and what they are actually doing with these type games. The second time I played through it was because I felt like I left so much out the first time through. But what happened was I was just running around collecting stuff around the story missions and in the end it was fun, but not as good as it could be. The third time through though, I decided to mix it all together, so I play a story mission or two, then a stranger mission or two, then I go free roaming to try and get he satchel upgrades. Each time I do this I work on one thing or the other, like I have all the satchel upgrades by the first mission in chapter 3 and I would have had it in chapter 2 but I didnt realize I could get a panther early on, I was thinking I had to get hunter challenge 10 done so I could hunt the legendary Panther but as you know it is not necessary, so I stopped working on the challenge, ( challenge 6, skin 5 cougars after killing them with a bow, I have 2 left) this was taking me some time as they are tough to spawn regularly. Anyway I am having so much more fun, I have almost all of chapter 3 to do yet and I have done 9 companion items and delivered them, and I have the pipe and compass for when they eventually ask, I have the satchel upgraded to the max one, I have 4 legendary animals and 2 fish, 2 gunslingers, etc.. Doing it this way what is happening is I get to begin the chapter story, then do a few stranger missions, then go hunting and exploring. I went and got the white Arabian, and kept my horse out too and went on a legendary animal hunt, where I can carry two full size loads plus countless skins. I was able to carry a Black Bear, am Elk and a Legendary fish by carrying it myself lol anyway it is very satisfying working through the game in this way. When I go back to Rhodes in a little bit and go meet Dutch in town to kick off the story missions, I will feel like I already got the stuff I need like the horse, satchel, dead eye upgrades, etc.,. and it is just more fun. I dont even mind the Epilogue that much, I know it is slow and a little boring, but if you are like me, and did all the camp chores everytime they were ready to be done, you are used to it, the Epilogue was fun, but getting through it well sets up the rest of the game, all the stuff you can do in the southern part of the map and all that, so I really dont mind it at all. I wish there were more to do in that part of the map, a few chapters worth of stuff would be great, since we have the map and everything is in place, but I digress. I also grabbed a ton of items in the swamp when I was there so I am way ahead of the game when we get to chapter 4 and spend time in St Denis. anyway seriously, the third time playing the game is awesome!! It took me two other times to "Get it". Now my OCD is doing the rest. It feels very complete and fun this way. RDR2 ruined all my other games so may as well play it til I am sick of it If someone was going to begin now and asked me, I would suggest they do a similar thing, with a short list of items to get first, but the satchel upgrades are probably the most significant. My short list of things I wish were in the game, The ability to hang people The ability to climb trees The ability to use the lasso for other things like lowering yourself over a edge or pulling yourself up a cliff, etc.. Blacksmiths, we never have to deal with a horse shoe or anything and every town should have a livery and blacksmith, plus you coudl add road maintenance by having to do shoe repairs etc.. Using the telegraph, sending and receiving messages at times, would be helpful. That is my short list, hard to say I dont like anything in the game, I do, I love it.2 points

it really does help... My wife is a player too, and today the second she finished a mission and spawned in Valentine, she was grieved with a shotgun to the face. He was a coward, stood in front knowing where she was going to spawn, and waited to shoot her. She went back and handed him his ass and he ended up changing sessions. Then someone tried to lasso her in her camp, and she took off and when he followed, she killed him a few times. Point is, it was my turn to talk to her and cool her down... But she didn't, she just went and griefed them back. It was a proud moment LMAO2 points

Thankfully my wife sits beside me while I play a lot, and she usually talks to me and cools me off. Lately it's been the usual low level cowards who shoot you, then leave the session before you can get revenge. The other night I was shot in Rhodes 3 times. Finally I started singing 'Shot in Rhodes Again' to the tune of Willie Nelson's 'On the Road Again.' Acutally, I wrote an entire song and recorded it. It's hilarious, and if I wasn't such a horrible singer, I would post it here! Anyhow, that's how I dealt with the events from that night. I wrote a song lmao In the end, my wife and I laughed hysterically at the lyrics and I forgot all about the griefer!2 points

During the lead-up to the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, we already knew that the game would pack a multiplayer mode not unlike Grand Theft Auto Online. Though continuously popular and profitable, fans of the latter were worried that the Wild West multiplayer romp will spell the end of the increasingly wacky insanity of GTA Online. Take-Two and Rockstar have repeatedly reassured fans this isn't the case. One more such reassurance came recently, when Take-Two reported its quarterly earnings to investors in a scheduled call. Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to perform admirably, with 23 million copies shipped worldwide, not counting digital sales. These numbers surpassed all of Take-Two's internal estimates, though some analysts estimated greater sales. Red Dead Online hasn't exited its beta stage yet, however the developers have already begun expanding its content with free DLC, following a model similar to that applied to the infinitely popular GTA Online. In this same investor call, Take-Two executives stressed that such updates will continue for GTA Online as well, and the two games will be supported side-by-side. Red Dead Online's rise will not affect the other title. This shouldn't come as any real surprise, though. GTA Online continues to be one of the biggest sources of revenue for the company, all these years after release. Though the game was initially launched on the previous generation of consoles, and the next one is right around the corner, it remains one of the most-played, and surprisingly, most bought games. It stood tall on the best-selling games list for 2018 right alongside Red Dead Redemption 2. While Rockstar Games has only been releasing content updates for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC for a very long time now, GTA Online can still be viewed as something of a relic from the previous generation - if it weren't for all the upgrades the current-gen re-release went through. Millions of players still play GTA Online across five platforms, so cutting support in favor of Red Dead Online would be foolish - and unnecessary. With the kind of revenue brought in by both games, Rockstar should have more than enough to cover continued development on both fronts. In technical terms, there are many similarities between GTA Online and Red Dead Online, in spite of the difference in setting and tone. While GTA Online is set in the modern day and is much less serious - there are laser weapons, orbital strikes and colorful flying bikes with lock-on missiles - Red Dead Online follows the more somber and serious tone of the single player story. Nonetheless, both feature structured PvP (Adversary Modes vs Showdown Series), microtransactions (Shark Cards vs Gold Bars), play accommodation that can be upgraded and customized (Apartments vs Camps), modes of transportation to be bought and customized (cars vs horses) and framework for team-ups (crews vs posses). Creating new content for them wouldn't have awfully different pipelines either. We'd guess there is quite some overlap between players of GTA Online and Red Dead Online, so if you're worried your new multiplayer home will lead to the death of the older one, there's no need to fear. I missed out on a lot my first time through but playing through a second time, I was able to actually slow down and notice all the little details. It is definitely a game worth playing at least twice. I am nearly done with my second run through so I will take a break and likely play again closer to summer.1 point

@danjou I revisited a character I created at beta release, Level 6. At level eight, I've began getting griefed byriders in the 50s 60s 70s and 100+ levels. It's nothing more than online bullying and I surmised the problem will not get better unless I report every single one of them. Shooting me once, okay. But when I respawn and I get the same shooter and his buddies again and again, not acceptable.1 point

2nd play through was fun but 3rd time is the charm. Literally took me the first play through to see the story, the second play through was to collect stuff I missed, the third play through is to collect everything but as I go, to get the satchel upgrades in chapter 2 so for the rest of the game I have the max satchel, that alone makes a world of difference, I also grabbed the Arabian early on, and stuff like that, Im in chapter 3 at the very beginning, I have only done a fishing mission with Javier, one with Dutch and Hosea and I took Sadie to the store, thats it, otherwise I have been free roaming and while I am out there, I am grabbing all the dreamcatchers, dino bones and rock carvings I come across, doing the hunter, herbalist and horseman challanges too and all before the middle of chapter 3. It is so much more fullflilling this time through, knowing about many things I had no idea about the first time is making it very satisfying. This game has ruined all my other games though, I have far cry 5, with the gold edition, so it came with fc 3 and 3 or 4 dlcs, etc.. but it just doesnt compare visually and so I cant get excited about it. Ive waited a long time for rdr2 level of graphics in an open world game, wee talking since 1975 when I had pong and texas instrument pc products.1 point

We should have like a pinned thread or something for this. Like when you contact Rockstar, post your message to them in the thread and then post the response you get if you get one. That way we can see what others are having issues with and possible tackle the same things to help them out a bit on what is most important to us, the players.1 point

R* is horrible when it comes to balancing their games and understanding their own game play mechanics in public sessions. GTA O proves that..looks like RD O will have the same issues. I mean, I kill players horses all the damn time and for good reason. Hostile player will try and stay on their horses, in order to keep wearing more hats to block head shots (Never without one). Yet I get punished for it with paying $4 for killing their horse. Sort of like GTA O.. Where people use vehicles to attack players from because it protects them from bullets or explosions.. Yet if you blow up the vehicle to deal with those pests you have to pay insurance for it. This is why I cringe when R* says they will add anti greifing mechanics to the game. Sure.. R*.. Sure you will...lol1 point

No, I don't think so. I'll have to check to be sure. No notification comes up (e.g., press button x to go to compendium) when you get them and I've gotten quite a few. On a side note, I love how the gang reacts to some of the more amusing ones. I was walking around camp with the morion on one day when Bill walked up to me and asked, "What the hell are you dressed up as?"1 point

I've to be honest. I have yet to use my setup in a pvp situation(mainly because I hate to waste dead eye), only against NPCs while clearing out enemy hideouts. It works wonders for that. Usually when I get headshot, I'm at my most vulnerable, either, skinning an animal, picking herbs or looking at my map. Doesn't bother me too much unless I've got some really valuable cargo on my horse from hunting. Either way as soon as I spawn back in, I'll make a bee line right back to them to make sure they get 5he message that I'm the wrong guy to mess with.1 point

2 shots from my Springfield (I tend to use High Velocity, rather than Express) will usually kill ayone, but the occasional person does seem more robust than usual. A few ability cards reduce damage taken, and there are tonics too. Lets assume that he has maxed out health, which should be a given by lvl 88, then: 1. Never without one - reduces damage while wearing a hat, so if shots 1 and 2 hit the body, and 3 was a hatshot, youve got 2 reduced damage hits; 2. slow and steady - if after the first hit he goes into deadeye for the second one, shot 2 is being nerfed by NWO AND S&S, so maybe minimal damage; 3. if he's drunk a tonic that fortifies health, who knows what actual benefit that provides. I still don't know what effect 'range' has. Does it reduce damage over distance? Does it affect your lock-on distance? a bit of both? Am I wasting my time with HV rounds? I'm always a bit surprised if I get 2 hits with my trusty Springfield and the guy's still standing, but it does happen, and I don't think (though I might be wrong) that there is some sinister unseen damage modifier operating under the surface. Proof? Nope!1 point

With your fellow Posse members, simply gun-down a posse leader and then once you are charged with murder you can gun down all the responding lawmen for even more XP1 point

PS4 and Xbox are now over 5 years old. Why write or rewrite games for a console that you know may not be around in 2 years? Maybe save your killer box set for the next gen of consoles? (Red Dead 3, 2 and 1 with 10k graphics and a machine that can push it.) We all waited 7 years for RD2 and I would bank that we would pay whatever Rockstar would ask for the box set. Why sell it now if you can wait a couple of years and make twice as much?1 point

Here's all we currently know about what is to come: https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/60828/Red-Dead-Online-Beta-Update-Jan-25-2019 Anything else about time frames, etc. is pure speculation at this point. The simply fact is that there is no official release date for the next TU and any potential fixes in between (if any). If there is any hope to some of the common issues some folks are experiencing, I suspect that they will likely be in the TU.1 point

i use tier 3 never without one in freeroam but in showdown i dont. slow and steady. winning streak and peak condition are good too. i love landons patience for me its very effective. i tried strange medicine but felt it wasnt needed. trial and error will help you find whats best for your play style. i prefer overpowered in showdown as it helps combat the latency lag and hit box issues1 point
