Decaying playing base maybe a blessing in disguise
HuDawg replied to HuDawg's topic in Red Dead Online
This games player base is decaying and there no question about it. From reddit.. to forums, to social media. Its all there.. This game is not running strong. Its limping along... This game is not a MMO.. Its an action game where the action barely exist. Everyone I know is dying for actual pvp modes.. And they simply got fed up of begging for basic sh*t that should already exist in a R* game. -

I didn't say it was dead. I said decaying.. Which is true. This game is no where near the numbers of players it had a few months ago. And we all know this. -

I didn't say it was dead.. But one glimpse at any Red Dead forum.. Shows just how lively this game is at the moment. Also considering youtube video numbers and stream shrinking over all. Whats there to be excited about.? Theres no competitive scene. Free Roam missions are just a plop and park. Co-op Missions are brain dead easy with 4 players and auto aim. Free roam battles penalize players. Its exact opposite of what players need. -

Because less players means less microtransactions. I mean even now.. The current content isn't that bad.. Its the way they have implemented it that's the problem. R* used to be the game company that gave players freedom to play how they want. Now they are probably one of the most restrictive game companies, when it comes to RD O. R* doesn't need to move onto something else. But they should be working on other games.. But drip feeding clothing and crappy pvp game modes..and placing more restrictions in free roam isn't going to draw players. -

R* approach to one shoe size fits all will drive players away more then make players come back. Some players want a sort of second life style game. This is why a pve only server is needed. Some players want a hardcore game mode without auto aim and ability cards..with griefers and hostiles galore. You may not like griefers.. For me, im lost without them. -
I can't help but think the current state of RD O player base and unhappy players will push R* to rethink its mindset when it comes to RD O. And this will end up being a good thing in the long run. And hopefully gets rid of the people in charge of RD O for being completely clueless and bad at their job. Because if RD O was successful, nothing would change. Just more of this, for years. Im literally the only person left out of tons of friends who own this game that still plays RD Online.. And when I say plays it, I mean 1 hour a week. Compared to end of 2018 and early 2019 when EVERYONE I knew was playing and I was playing this for many hours a week, (Its kind of sad 😪) I've gone back to single player. Because I can play FREE AIM in peace, no ability cards.. no bullsh*t.. with a world that actually seems alive and is built around fun. The end of the BETA is going to be R*s second and probably last chance to really bring players back and keep their attention... And give players what they need instead of what Take Two wants.

Every game ever made with guns.. has the same logic. Shotguns own close/mid range. Shotgun slugs can increase range.. but losses its power at close range.

Female Gamers: Are they too much a distraction for male players?

We shall not stop till the Sausage Party is in full swing! As far as RDO goes.. I hereby claim the Tree House as men only. This is No Maam County! -
Ya I miss those days. The old red dead was not rich in content. But it was so much fun. Everyone lined up. "DRAW".. I get some serious flash back when playing in certain areas of gun fights I had from the previous online version of Red Dead. Ooooh how I would chop off my left nipple just for a Hardcore Free Roam.

Problem is the way R* has set up this pvp game modes. Its extremely dumbed down, which killed any sort of pvp communities from actually being born. So its more then half no caring about it. The bulk of its player base just doesn't care. If R* added actual hosted pvp lobbies. And had lobby options for the host to toggle. And The choice to play between auto aim or free aim. (like GTA 4, RD, GTA V) . There would actually be PVP communities and actual competition. And players would care.
-
Im not sure how its cool.. Or what you consider cheating. The only grind that actually matters in RD O is ability cards and levels. Its not like its a RPG or a looter game. R* has managed to make RD O so dull. Theres barely any incentive to buy gold bars. Im still wearing the same clothing since the 1st week of RD O. I spent $6 for the gold bar deal just to customize my guns ASAP and never had a reason to buy more. Id rather pay for gold and get what I want asap then 'grind' anyways.

Defensive mode... Why would I give anyone the option to lock on to me when I can block the auto aim and take less damage till I shoot back? Why would anyone even use offensive mode as their default setting?
-
This game has a lobby option problem.. So theres really no need to keep dumbing the game down even more with a bunch of convoluted ideas. Give me a hardcore lobby. All free aim. No ability/passive cards. (Dead eye only makes your aim perfect/no recoil). Blips only show up when shooting and players are in ear shot. No stupid defensive/offensive/bounty systems. If R* would simply add more lobbys.. People would actually be happy. I know I would.
-
1 step forward.. 20 stumbles back. Game doesn't have a griefing problem. It has a lack of lobby option problems.. Those changes they added actually make it easier for hostile players to 'grief'. Which is basically R* trade mark at this point. Lemat and new co op mission are good. Lack of free aim lobbies means it will turn boring quickly.
-
R* doesn't get it.. And this is starting to grow tiresome. Hardcore/Free aim Free roam.. Invite only..lobbies. Simple easy solution to everyones problems. They instead prefer to pile on band aid after band aid. So just by reading that.. I can easily put myself in a griefers mindset and see the loop holes. Start a mission = Griefing spree. Defensive passive mode.. Perfect for cheap shotting. I don't NEED R*s damn bullsh*t.. I don't need bounty hunters. I don't need 'punishment' against players. Il do it my ****ing self. Hell I can do it blind folded thanks the damn auto aim. R* is trying to suck the life and soul of this game... Infact I think being a griefer at this point seems like my new calling. Sure does seem like all the real action is in being bad... Maybe its time I turn heel. Just out of spite.. Like holy sh*t.. What the **** does R* expect me to do in this game without hostile players?
-
imo if people can't handle dealing with hostiles players.. Stop playing the game. Since its really part of the game. People like me play this game just waiting for something to pop off, because without any sort of hostile players around, this game would be boring as hell. If the argument was about not having private lobbies so you can play in peace.. I would totally support that, because private lobbies is a 100% must. But in public games, its meant to be a free for all. Griefers are just the must needed bad guys that make this game exciting. R* already punishes players who defend themselves by adding a kill tax and making their blips red. Which in turn makes people think Red blips are griefers.. Which sort of makes people blip racists.. (Because red blips just means they killed a lot of players in a short time, not that they are griefers) Anyone new to Red Dead.. 1.) Play the Single player campaign to get used to the basics of the game, inventory use and how the guns work/feel. 2.) Play PVP game modes till you lose your mind. The more you die.. the more you learn. Every kill you get makes you understand how pvp works even more. 3.) After losing your mind in pvp modes dealing with tons of hostile players at once. A few 'griefers' in free roam is almost a non issue. 4.) If worse comes to worse, Find a new lobby or parlay.
-
I was gonna say add me on xbox. I literally just hang around players and wait for things to pop off... I mean, I like to hunt animals and fish. But my preferred prey are hostile players aka griefers. But for some reason my mental code forbids me to shoot 1st...lol. So I need the griefers.
-
Just wondering.. What system do you play RD O on?
-
Hate to be that guy.. And I do sort of blame R* for not adding private lobbies. But.. This is a bang bang flim flam game.. If you want to fish and avoid ding dongs. This is the game for you.
-
IMO the term griefer is extremely over used. But at the same time I blame R* for not adding proper lobbies. I get both sides of the argument.. For me. I love hostiles players.. They are the spice of life in the wild west, especially in R* free roam sand box games.. A completely controlled free roam experience is not why I play R* games. Last thing I want is a weird forced structured mmo style opt in pvp free roam game. Which some seem to be asking for.. instead of private/free aim lobbies.
-
I agree with everything you said 100%.. My only real hope right now is that R* is waiting till after the beta period ends to add all that..

Red Dead Online Generating Less Revenue Than GTA Online
HuDawg replied to NewsBot's topic in Red Dead Online
Ya GTA O had free aim from the start. By the time it went to xbox one and ps4. They actually added a auto aim to free aim in the form of 'free aim assisted aim'. R* logic at its finest. Well the heists themselves where fun. But this is also when R* added Insurgents and Fighter Jets to be purchased in game, R* then started to add these business DLCs that where, for some weird reason are locked to public session. While at the same time adding more and more OP vehicles to the game. And in game options that really ruined any sort of balanced game play.. Like.. Biker Business is a great concept an fun. But its locked to public sessions.. So you're then stuck doing these biker fetch missions with slow vehicles in lobbies with players in fighter jets that can just dive bomb and slaughter players. But GTA O is a mixed bag..a huge mixed bag. Despite its issues, theres a lot of things to do. Also being able to play private/invite only session allowed different communities to thrive. GTA O had racing crews, that play in private races and held events and played competitively. Also had the ability to just play public races. GTA O pvp crews that players in private matches for actual competitive play. Also had the ability to play public pvp. RD O doesn't have the option for private lobbies, no hosts that can change the rules/settings/game mode. The last Red Dead did.. But not this one for some stupid reason. R* killed off any sort of actual competitive communities from forming. At this point im just holding my breathe till the end of the beta. If this is all this game is.. Is one BIG public mess of a free lobby with no way to host or pick what game modes to play. -
Red Dead Online Generating Less Revenue Than GTA Online
HuDawg replied to NewsBot's topic in Red Dead Online
GTA O was at its best before heists. Which is its early days. Actual free aim lobbies.. No BST. No instant ammo fills. No flying bikes or jets on demand. No piles of OP vehicles all over the place. At the same time. RDO has no private lobbies or free aim lobbies. Has not way to choose specific game modes to play. RDO launched with all the minor things missing. -
Lack of Free Aim lobbies and Private lobbies are hurting this game. R* doesn't seem to want players to enjoy the game the way they want. For example, I can't just host and play free aim co-op mission. Theres nothing fun about co-op auto aim missions with 4 players. Nothing... Players ride to the spot, spam auto aim, kill everything in seconds. And the faster missions get done the less you get. Also the fact that pvp game modes lack hosts, hosting options and the ability to play specific game modes is another shot in the foot. This kills off any sort of real competitive game communities from forming. Instead we get this auto aim, pvp game mode where players have NO choice on what they play.

The Bounty Hunters are by far the most powerful NPCS in the game. After spending 3 days fighting them off. Some of them can take a shotgun blast to the face, and still keep coming. Fighting off Bounty Hunters, for me at the moment. Is probably the most exciting thing in the game.
