  1. Don’t sell your gator eggs unless you’ve already completed the exotics strand. I found that they don’t respawn very quickly (if at all). Selling gator eggs to quickly really cost me a lot of time and effort.
  2. Well dang. Was making good time on the Van Horne to Blackwater run and met a train coming the other way over Bard's Crossing. Which ended well...
  3. Yeah, that makes sense. RDR isn’t exactly Call of Duty or Fortnite, is it?
  4. I wouldn’t worry about that screen. In the pause menu, go to “Progress” and then “Total completion” If you have a tick next to “Legendary Fish”, then you’ve completed that achievement strand and you can move onto something else.
  5. For Bandit 10 (rob a train 5 times), I used the same good train three times in a row. Got on it, stole a can of peaches and then rode off. Waited for the red "someone's pissed at you" marker to fade away, and then returned and got on the same train and stole something else. Repeated again and I got my final 3 and the bandit 10 popped.
  6. Well, this is me. I'm somewhat over 50, so slower than a lot of other young folks around here. I've been gaming on and off ever since the early days of home computers (anyone remember Pong on the old Atari?) I'm not saying I'm any good at many of the games I played, I just play to enjoy them. I've worked all my life with computers, and I'm currently a software developer for a large UK based software company. Thankfully, I enjoy my job and have a great boss. I live in the south of the UK with my partner and two dogs. I get onto the console when I'm allowed to (that's about 600 hours worth since RDR2 was released...) I used to have a PS1 years ago and played a lot of Doom, until it started making me really really angry. I bought an Xbox 360 solely after watching adverts for Forza Motorsport 3. And then FM4 was release, and then Forza Horizon, FM5, Forza Horizon 2 (you get the picture). I was a moderator on the Forza Motorsports official site, so I've seen some of the best and worse of online gaming. I tend to play in campaign/story mode most of the time - I'm just not quick enough to catch up or compete with the kids online these days. So now I'm here. Being helped by the good folk here, and trying to pay it back when I can. And now some fool goes and makes me a moderator! That's as bad as putting Pearson in charge of food...
  7. Yeah, no problem. I was pretty sure that the talismans and trinkets worked that way, otherwise there would be lots more talk on the websites about the strategy for changing them around to suit particular missions.
  8. Foxtrot was the name of the horse I had when I joined this forum. That horse is now dead. Many other horses are dead, and Buell twice. And he'll probably die again.
  9. I've noticed that some loot boxes are reset. That broken down wagon on the main road between Emerald Ranch and Valentine certainly gets closed and refilled. There's plenty of nuggets around the map - I suspect that these have also respawned. This is a good catch, thanks. Not that I need much gold, I left much of the treasure hunting for John and he only really needs cash for when he's being killed and robbed all the time...
  10. From what I’ve read, the legendary channel catfish remains just that -legendary. I've not seen anyone catching this mythical beast yet. If you’ve still got one left, it’ll appear in your progress list in your log. The list of the Legendary fish are: Bullhead Catfish Chain Pickerel Lake Sturgeon Largemouth Bass Longnose Gar Muskie Perch Redfin Pickerel Rock Bass Smallmouth Bass Sockeye Salmon Steelhead Trout Bluegill The legendary Channel Catfish isn't listed in the official strategy guide except as part of the story mission. There's also only 13 legendary fish, not 15. There are 15 "ordinary fish". The legendary Northern Pike is one you get in a story mission, the Legendary Channel Catfish isn't catchable as far as we know. I'm guessing that you're confusing the legendary catches with the "catch all the fish in the world" trapper challenge (Survivalist 10).
  11. I’m not sure where you read that, but it goes against what I’ve read on powerpyx and the official strategy guide (page 312) ”Talismans and trinkets induce permanent perks. You do not need to equip the items; their effects are always active, making them very powerful. Note you can choose to show or hide talismans in the Wardrobe menu”
  12. Six times 24 is 144, so a lot more than 122. Also, is this your first play through? That counter only shows your current game, not any previous ones.
  13. Hmmm. From looking at some YouTube videos on this, it looks as though you don’t get the challenge notification on your first win, neither does the progress bar increase. I only see the pop up when the third hand is won. So maybe that’s what’s fooling me.
  14. Maybe not all. No one has found Gavin yet...
  15. Yes, it says this on one of the game screens. All trinkets and talismans are active when you’ve crafted and bought them. They don’t have to be equipped in order to work. And you really don’t need to swap them around according to need.
  16. It seems like gambler 9 and 10 have changed over time. With gambler 9, I had to win three complete games in a row (getting over 60 points at Emerald Ranch). Ive played a few hands of poker, but not even got the first of three prompt yet, despite winning a few hands. So I still don’t know what a poker “victory “ current means.
  17. This trick also works for Gambler 8. If you see that there’s no way that you’ll win with three hits (or someone else gets blackjack right away), just quit the table and immediately rejoin the game. Do this quickly enough and the table will reset. It doesn’t lower the odds of you winning, but it does cut out a lot of the tedious animation while other people play their game out. It took me about two to three hours to finally get this one. Note that getting yourself killed resets the challenge- I worked this out when I accidentally choked someone in the Van Horne saloon.
  18. It’s pretty tedious to get a gold on this mission as there’s a time limit, and plenty of people to fight before you get to the end boss fight. Basic advice I saw was to concentrate on defence and work on combo attacks in retaliation. It didn’t work out for me, and I couldn’t be bothered to replay the whole mission just to fail again, so I did the minimum to get the mission done.
  19. Hmmm. I just the Xbox app on my phone. I assumed that the PS4 would have something similar. How odd that it doesn’t...
  20. Same with the Xbox one. Just hit the big fat Xbox button on the controller and you can choose whether to take a screenshot or a recording of the previous minute or so of gameplay (you can set the length in the settings somewhere)
  21. Glad to hear it. From what I saw on YouTube, it’s a matter of picking a route that doesn’t involve jumping over walls.
  22. I’m currently at 564 hours and one mission from the end of the story. I still have yet to do: • study all the animals • skin all the animals • kill all the gangs • hunting requests • pick all the herbs • collect all the exotics • finish the challenges • find all the Dino bones • use all the weapons • survive and defeat another 12 grizzly attacks Maybe I need another 500 hours...
  23. There are more than enough camp requests to get the related achievement/trophy. So if you don’t hit the prompt for Dutch’s pipe, it’s not a big problem.
  24. I'm guessing that in fluking your way into Blackwater and catching the fish as Arthur, you've ended up in a situation that wasn't plotted and scripted in the game. I suspect that there's no voice scripts for Arthur meeting Gill as that was never intended to be the end result of the fishing story.
