"Do you trust me?" - Roanoke area Stranger
Foxtrot replied to Moosh89's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
I played most of the way through before realising that I missed something. Now I’m on my second run and taking more time while Arthur is still moderately healthy. -
The zombie humans mentioned here might also be Murfrees brood guys.

True. But then you end up spending many minutes loading and saving games before you do anything that looks as though it might be interesting. Personally, I don’t have the patience for that. -
The best way i found is to look up the gold medal requirements online or in the strategy guide just as I start each mission. Or you can do a manual save before you get the the yellow mission marker. Just knowing the gold medal requirements before you start is easier even though you get some of the details of the mission spoiled for you first.

It seems to have been a very long time since i last rode head-first into a tree...

I don’t think that auto save has any impact at all on story or gaining gold medals. Its usually better to go for medals on the first attempt as replaying missions will equip you with a default horse and load out and can make the mission replay a bit more challenging.

No, it won’t be different. You’ll get just the same experience when you get there. There’s a set procedure to get the most out of that encounter, so you might want to read up about it first. -
Hurrah! I managed it. I just wandered around that area and found a three star panther in the distance so shot it, and wounded it, and ended up having to put it out of its misery so only scored a one star pelt. The next night, I did the same thing and after a long time tramping in circles found another three star panther. I shot it through some bushes. It ended up being an imperfect kill and two stars. Skinning it, it got upgraded to a three star because I have the buck trinket. So im real happy with that. As a bonus, I got a three star badger at Bolger Gate. So now I just need a cougar and wolf to get the final satchel.

Yep, I’ll try again when I’m allowed some console time again. Id really love to get all the satchels before the end of chapter three and I’ll probably get the dreamcatchers, fossils, and carvings completed as well.
-
@Kormath Thanks a lot for the additional information, that’s really useful. Thankfully, I only need the one perfect pelt. I just hope the cougar isn’t this difficult. Badgers are a bit of a pain to find too.

So skulking around the Fen with cover scent didn’t really work out that well. Got pounced on twice out of nowhere, even when I was taking it slow and doing a full eagle eye sweep. The masses of undergrowth, plants, deer, and boar around there don’t really help a lot. Ill try again with the potent bait after I go buy some more. I’m out of gaming time for now, so might need to revisit this next week. Mat least when I used the bait method, I had a few sightings that didn’t result in my speedy death.

I’ve almost got all of the satchels, next on my list is a perfect panther pelt. So I go to the T-junction near Catfish Jackson’s and get pounced on as soon as I get off my horse. I lay down bait in the evening and wait. A one star cat turns up, so I leave it. Return the next night and the same happens. Next time, I creep into the woods and keep my ears and eyes open. Pounce. Dead. Pounce. Dead. I’m really struggling with bagging this one.

For sharpshooter challenge “Kill 6 animals without switching or reloading a weapon” I simply went to Emerald Ranch at night and shot a bunch of sheep and goats with the Lancaster. There’s not many people there at night, so you can simply ride away after slaughtering half of the animals there.

I didn’t think that gang hideouts had treasure maps. Jewellery and cash, yes - but I’ve never seen a map found at a hideout.

I called mine ‘Gavin’. Seemed appropriate.

You lose main story mode too, a low, random amount.

My main horse died in Lemoyne gang ambush, what do I do?!
Foxtrot replied to Clusterwatch's question in Questions & Answers
If it’s been killed, then it’s gone. Either buy, find or steal another one. Even though horses are different breeds and have different stats, in reality they’re very similar in function to each other. -
Yes, that happens when someone kills you -you get robbed, and any non-legendary pelts are also taken. Thankfully, they won’t take all of your money and items - I usually have more than $1000 on me and lose some when getting killed. It doesn’t take much time to get that money back from stealing or selling stuff.

Where's the BIG money?? (Story mode)
Foxtrot replied to Cokeyskunk's question in Questions & Answers
Once you get past the end of chapter 2, you have the guns you need to continue. Beyond an achievement for buying stuff, there's not much need of stacks of cash in the game. Work your way through the treasure hunter challenges and looting shacks, houses and you'll have more than you need. -
Calm it a few times first, then you can approach and pat it before leading it out of the barn.
-
There’s a cheevo for max bonding. There might be another one for Online for something else with horses, but I don’t do Online.
-
Yes, but you don’t need a racehorse - you can use the same horse you use for the rest of the game. I’ve yet to see a reason for having more than one horse, personally. You implied that these challenges can be tough, when they’re not at all. You just gallop along the tracks and try not to fall off the bridges and use stimulant when required (the only time I use stimulants is in these challenges)

Easier Sharpshooter 2 Easier Horseman 3 and 6 For killing predators, I just used gators. Easy to spot from a distance, there's plenty of them and they just lay there waiting to get shot in the head. The gator eggs you find along the way is a monetary bonus.

The chances are that the profanity filter is baked into the game by Microsoft by way of Xbox restrictions. I expect Sony has the same thing. Admittedly, it seems a bit strange to limit the input when the game and in-game dialogue is 18 rated, but Microsoft really don’t want anyone to use their systems to write hate or abusive messages that could be shown in screen captures etc.

Is it possible to download the official strategy guide?
Foxtrot replied to Foxtrot's question in Questions & Answers
I have an iPhone X. The strategy guide is ok on it if you don’t mind a lot of zooming and scrolling (which annoys me very quickly). Having a pdf on a large screen might be better, but it’s good to mark off progress when I need to (and it won’t blank off on me after a few minutes either...)
