  1. As MS mentions, the beginning of the game is an orientation of sorts to get you familiar with some of the mechanics and set the foundation of the story, characters, etc. The gameworld will open up and gradually you'll be introduced to more aspects of the game as you progress.
  2. I don't necessarily think it's the rushing of the game that gives a bad impression to players (although that may be in some cases) but perhaps it's telling of a general lack of interest or dissatisfaction in some of its elements. Personally, I tend to rush games I simply don't find that interesting and I'll savor the ones I really enjoy. .....like this one. No wrong or right here, just a matter of perspective.
  3. When you got things to do there never seems to be enough time during daylight. Just as long as an adjustment meant the night wouldn't be extended as well, I would be all for it.
  4. yeah.... Every time I'm in town and most times I pass people on the road (unless I'm in a hurry) I'll try to greet them. That will have an effect. Eventually you'll start seeing white silhouettes of a man with a hat on with a plus sign next to it appear briefly at the right of the screen. If you can find someone in distress, help them. That is a big boost.
  5. Bah! That sucks.
  6. I agree a lot with what @DylBandit had to say. I'd honestly give this game a 9 or a 10. This rating isn't based on expectations or marketing but more about my own experience, a comparison with other games I have played/enjoyed and the value I get (and/or believe I will get out of it in the weeks/months to come). Dylan already echoed a lot of what I was thinking so I won't get into it here. .....and yeah, I get what you are saying about some of the negatives but it simply boils down to a difference of opinion.
  7. Yeah, I noticed that too. I thought that a hat you pick up would become part of your inventory but either I'm doing something wrong or it only stick around while you keep it on your head.
  8. Thanks Yoda but don't worry about it. I figured RDR2.org would see it's share of this lot when the game released. I don't see the reason people like Wildpoop have to resort to disrespectful remarks like that but to be honest, I'm too old to evn give a crap. Clearly his hamfisted ways of playing the game are working for him so what do I know anyway? Let him continue to be frustrated with the game. By contrast, I'm having a great time with it and learning how to react with the gameworld. RDR2.org was a fun and cordial atmosphere up till launch. ......I'm not going to let a couple bad apples ruin it for me. Time to start using the ignore feature.
  9. Agreed. .....as are the bugs and "issues" as some of the latter have been more opinion of design than broken code IMO. I acknowledge that some are experiencing certain legitimate bugs but I also realize that some of those issues don't affect everyone. That's not a dismissal of legitimate grievances but simply an acceptance that not everyone will share the same view based on their own gameplay experience. IMO / IME, the game has been amazing and worthy of the high reviews. I based that on my own opinion and experience in the game and not that of others.
  10. Celebrate? I don't as an adult but we do take my kid out for trick or treating. Actually, my wife did and I'm currently at home passing out candy. ....she'll take over when they get back. Other than drinking a bit and waiting for the rascals to stop coming to our door so I can play RDR2, no, I don't have any other plans for this evening.
  11. Too buggy? IME, not really but that's not to say that I don't acknowledge some haven't run into their own. .....as for opinions on some of the mechanics (e.g. bounties, AI interaction, mission structure, lack of sex & nudity, etc.), much of this I've seen is purely subjective and some even leaning toward hyperbolic rhetoric. Some criticism I agree with (totally or to a point) and others I simply don't. Again, it comes down to personal opinion. Either way, I had no illusion that the game would not have some level of bugs in it. IMO, I expect (hope) R* will be quick to address these (like the HDR issue) but only time will tell. Personally, I am having a blast with the game. I haven't found any issues or disappointments in the gameplay that I can say have really tarnished my gameplay experience. ....just the opposite in fact as I am discovering new things I delve deeper into the campaign. Again, in time we'll know just how RDR2 stands in gaming history. Like Melting Snowflakes, I too have been gaming for decades and I've seen many other big titles that have had their share of bugs on release (some with far more than this game). While I might like to see some aspects of RDR2 improved, etc., I am overall quite happy with the product.
  12. ......cue 70s "chicka dow now" music.
  13. Here, this ought to brighten your day. Just happens to coincide with RDR2s launch.......
  14. I have refused to upgrade my phone because my Droid Turbo has been an absolute tank. ......maybe it's time after all?
  15. I think you can rename your horse in the stables. ......
  16. Again, you're overreacting to what is essentially my indifference to sex and nudity in games. I simply don't like or dislike those elements in GTAV, the Witcher, etc. You are warping that into me somehow trying to take this element away from you. RDR2 was the second biggest launch in entertainment history, only second to GTAV. .....and I'll wager they'll sell a lot more. If R* had marketed a game without "shootouts", "gun battles", "gore", etc., do you really think it would have been successful? btw, without revealing spoilers, there is brief nudity and sex (implied and otherwise) in this game. As for romance, there is a love interest and plenty of character development, drama, depth, bonding, rivalries, etc. I'm just beginning to delve into that other romantic relationship as I haven't got that far yet. I'm truly sorry you can't seem to enjoy the game without the existing sex / nudity. I honestly haven't had this much fun in a game in a long time. The campaign will certainly last me well into November and I'll doubt I will even complete it before the online beta hits. Either way, good luck to you.
  17. Just spitballin' here..... How about trying the maintenance feature in the stable. I forget what it is is called but it brings you horse's levels back up. .....even if they already are, perhaps this will reset any glitch there may be in that mechanic that could be limiting the horse's sprint speed. Could also try tonics?
  18. Skins and such? .....interesting. Need to research that one.
  19. ....and quite honestly, this is one reason why I really like this game. I also like the fact that I can lose my horse. It forces me to exercise caution and also adds an element of tension, excitement and great relief when you know you just dodged a bullet. Personally, I only lost my horse once and that was my fault entirely (tried to beat the train). I have survived several ambushes with some really close calls. I was killed in one or two but my horse escaped without issue. When traveling along roads I will often slow down in choke points, over bridges, etc. More than once I was able to hear them talking as I approach. I will then pull my pump shotgun or repeater and either face them or run away. I also will run alongside roads or "as the crow flies" as Creed mentioned. I actually look forward to encounters like these now as I have become pretty good at reacting to them and they tend to be profitable (stuff I can sell to my fences).
  20. Yeah..... RDR2.org is like my last safe place to go. Now with the onslaught of so many new members, seems pieces of the story are being leaked here and there. I try to stay away from the thread titles that seem like they may reveal something I don't know yet. 😄
  21. ....yeah, I was still being sarcastic. See what I did there.
  22. Thanks Creed for using the spoiler tool. It's getting to the point now where I have to watch out which threads I open. 😲
  23. Sorry you're experiencing that. I hate the whole button tapping mechanic personally. I like the fact that they included a toggle feature for running but you still have to tap to sprint.
  24. What are you on about? I meant the remark you dissected in your diatribe where yes, I was using sarcasm: "....and yes, with the proper equipment, it does make a difference for those that can tell." Oh, and hey, welcome to the forums by the way.
  25. You're still tapping the run button, yeah? Provided your horse's stamina is ok, I wouldn't think there should be a problem. The only time i have the issue is sometimes off road or in certain areas where it is restricted. I also found out later from a "tip" notification that if you tap the run button in time with your horse's gallop, the stamina will not deplete.
