Yep... Lot's of new features, tweaks, etc. When (if) they release the patch notes with all the little details, I'll update the other thread. -
What time on Tuesdays does new update drop?
Kean_1 replied to Freebird4Life's question in Questions & Answers
There is no set time of the day that we get news, bonuses, updates, etc. They were coming regularly every Tuesday although we received nothing last week. However, the release date for the Summer Update has been announced this morning: -
RED DEAD ONLINE UPDATE COMING SEPTEMBER 10INTRODUCING FRONTIER PURSUITS - NEW BOUNTY HUNTER, TRADER AND COLLECTOR SPECIALIST ROLES AND MORE The next Red Dead Online update arrives September 10 and introduces three new Frontier Pursuits, the next step in the continual evolution of Red Dead Online. Frontier Pursuits are an ongoing series of Roles for players to inhabit, delivering a wide array of themed activities that each offer unique items, skills and more as you progress through each Role. In addition to the first three new Roles comes dramatic improvements to player control with quicker and more responsive movement across all phases of combat and locomotion; the ability to redesign your character’s appearance without resetting progress; greater damage resistance while in the Defensive playing style; new Ability Cards; new Daily Challenges and Daily Role Challenges; more Dynamic Events happening across the frontier; a slew of new items and much more. With each Role, you’ll always have new pursuits to embark upon that lead to unique items and skills as you progress, in addition to Cash and Gold payouts. As Red Dead Online continues to evolve, more Frontier Pursuits will be added, giving you new Roles, new choices and more ways to personalize your path through the world of Red Dead Online. Each Role automatically earns Role XP as you complete a Role’s activities: when you hunt a bounty, you’ll earn Role XP toward the Bounty Hunter; when you find a collectible, you’ll earn Role XP towards the Collector and so on. Role XP counts towards your progression through 20 Role Ranks. You will reach a new tier of distinction every 5 ranks: Novice, Promising, Established and Distinguished. Unlocking a Role Rank earns Role Tokens and at certain ranks you’ll also unlock new skills, such as the Bounty Hunter ability to duck for protection on horseback or a Trader’s ability to train their camp dog to warn of a camp raid by thieves; upgrades to your satchel’s carrying capacity; or access to new Role specific Free Roam events. Each tier also has a kit of items that are unique to the Role and can be unlocked for purchase using Role Tokens. For example, the Trader’s Novice Kit gives you access to seven Trader Role items including a unique Saddle, Gun Belt and a Stew Pot that provides your camp with fresh meals to refill your cores and your Posse’s cores (and additional recipes to prepare special stews for Gold Cores), while the Bounty Hunter’s Established Kit gives you access to seven Bounty Hunter Role items - including a Bounty Wagon to hold multiple bounty targets, the Bolas throwing weapon to tangle the legs of bounties, a new outfit and more. Players that progress to Distinguished ranks will have earned a range of new skills that will be useful in all their pursuits across the frontier; advanced camp styles and comforts; and recognizable clothing items that will show off their accomplishments in each discipline. Get started as a Bounty Hunter when you meet the Legendary Bounty Hunter in Rhodes and purchase the Bounty Hunter License. The standard cost is 15 Gold Bars, while Twitch Prime Members who link their Twitch and Rockstar Games Social Club accounts by Sunday September 8 will get the Bounty Hunter License for free starting September 10. Licensed Bounty Hunters can pick up work by visiting bounty boards located near law offices, post offices and train stations across the states. There is no shortage of criminals to be dealt with and the targets range in difficulty, from lone low-level criminals to notorious outlaws with armed protection details and a watchful eye. Taking on an armed gang or bringing multiple targets to justice is made easier with the help of a Posse, who will all earn a cut of the final bounty. And keep in mind, bringing in targets alive will yield a greater reward. Eclipsing Bounty Hunter Rank 12 will open up the opportunity to take down other players with high bounties of $20 or more. Bounty Hunters will be notified through an invite about the opportunity to hunt down the wanted player when they’re nearby in a structured pursuit. The wanted player must escape (or surrender) within the allotted time and if captured, they’ll also have opportunities to escape and flee. If the Bounty Hunter brings the target in alive, they’ll receive an award while the criminal serves time. Unique Bounty Hunter skills and items include: Focus: Targets glow red in Eagle Eye Reinforced Lasso: A lasso made with reinforced rope to keep bounties secure Reverse Spin: Perform a Reverse Spin with a single pistol or revolver Tonics Satchel Upgrade: Store more items in your Tonics Pouch Eagle Eye+: Track enemies while sprinting or galloping Spin Up: Perform a Spin Up with a single pistol or revolver Kit Satchel Upgrade: Store more items in your Kit Pouch Tracking Arrow Pamphlet: A pamphlet recipe on how to craft Tracking Arrows Reverse Spin Up: Perform a Reverse Spin Up with a single pistol or revolver Ducking: Duck for protection while on horseback Bolas: A thrown weapon, perfect for tangling the legs of bounties Bounty Wagon: A wagon for securely retaining bounty targets Perception: Receive a notification of bounties from a greater distance Alternating Flips: Perform Alternating Flips with a single pistol or revolver Dual Gun Spinning: Perform gun spinning tricks with two pistols or revolvers Your trusted camp companion, Cripps, has long dreamed of starting a trading outpost and you’re going to help him make it happen - by becoming a partner in the fledgling Cripps Trading Company. Combining Cripps’ lifetime of working with animal materials and your skills at hunting and frontier security, you’ll have the perfect ingredients to develop a thriving business. Once you agree to help Cripps, you can start turning your camp into a business by sourcing items for Cripps to convert into sellable goods. An investment of 15 Gold Bars to purchase a Butcher’s Table will get your business up and running, while all PlayStation 4 players will get the Butcher’s Table for free. Once you’re operational, you’ll provide Cripps with Materials through hunting animals – pristine pelts and carcasses will provide better yields. You’ll also take on Resupply Missions to acquire additional necessities through less than savory tactics. Once supplied, Cripps will begin turning the materials into sellable goods, which can then be sent out on low-risk local deliveries for payment or across greater distances for a premium. Improve your hunting yields with a Hunting Wagon for larger hauls or upgrade your Delivery Wagons for larger sales. As business flourishes and your presence becomes known in the market, your competition may grow jealous of your success, so keep an eye out for raids on your camp. As your trade grows, you might consider purchasing a camp dog from Wilderness Outfitters. Not only are dogs great camp companions for all players, but a Trader of sufficient rank can teach their dog to warn of incoming attacks. Unique Trader skills and items include: Stew Pot: A camp upgrade that unlocks stew recipes to boost cores Ingredients Satchel Upgrade: Store more items in your Ingredients Pouch Awareness: Identify rival Trader wagons at an increased range Canine Warning: Train your dog to warn of thieves raiding your camp Medium and Large Delivery Wagons: Upgraded wagons that can hold more goods for transport Weapons Locker: Store weapons for later use Lance Knife: A bespoke knife style available to Traders only Efficiency: Learn to increase the amount of usable materials from perfect carcasses Materials Satchel Upgrade: Store more items in your Materials Pouch Hunting Wagon: A sturdy wagon fit for carrying multiple carcasses, hides and pelts Protection: Reduce the chance of raids at your camp Seek out the mysterious travelling saleswoman Madam Nazar to acquire the Collector’s Bag and get started on the path of the Collector. By successfully collecting all 54 hidden playing cards in GTA Online you can forego the upfront cost of the Collector’s Bag and earn it for free. Otherwise, it will cost 15 Gold Bars for access to collecting and selling rare items. With Madam Nazar’s help, you will be able to explore the world finding valuable treasures, whether they’re discarded Tarot cards in abandoned camps, buried treasures unearthed with your trusty shovel, hidden family heirlooms and more. Collect individual pieces and sell them off directly to Madam Nazar or collect entire sets for even more valuable sales. As you progress, you’ll unlock enhanced searching skills; more useful tools like a metal detector; benefits like increased carrying capacities; the ability for your horse to directly pluck and pass herbs to you while mounted, and more. Unique Collector skills and items include: Divination: Sense when near collectibles Pennington Field Shovel: An essential tool for uncovering buried collectibles Potential: Detect disturbed earth when using Eagle Eye Intuition: Narrow your search area Horse Saddlebag Upgrade: Carry more in your Horse’s saddlebag Refined Binoculars: Specialized binoculars that make dig sites glow from a great distance Águila Machete: A classic machete restyled for the use of adventurous and belligerent Collectors Metal Detector: An important tool which can identify collectibles buried underground Equine Assistance: Collect herbs from horseback Horse Lantern: Light the path ahead with a lantern attached to your horse’s breastplate Valuables Satchel Upgrade: Store more items in your Valuables Pouch In addition to these new Specialist Roles, the Update will also include a vast assortment of new features and gameplay updates. These include new Role Free Roam Events that are unlocked as you progress through each Role; additional Stable slots; improved selling prices of Jewelry across the board; lootable containers in ambient wagons; more custom outfit slots and the ability to name saved Outfits in your wardrobe; weapons rebalancing to reduce reliance on headshots as the primary kill method in PvP and much, much more.

....I was old enough to vote for Ronald Reagan.
-
I already told my wife about it. We also use the system for watching Netflix, Prime and some of the other subscription apps she likes. .....and then occasionally DVDs / Blu-Ray. My boy also uses it for his games. It's our entertainment system.
-
Yeah, that was the first thought that came to my mind.
-
Hi Experiment and welcome to the forums. Fyi.... There are no age restraints here but we do have rules including those regarding promoting, advertising, etc. I guess you meant me @Parzival? Yeah, I'm actually over the half century mark myself.
-
Hi Becky and welcome to the forums. Since this has to do with the online portion of the game, I'll go ahead and move this to the Q&A over there for ya. Sorry, wish I had an answer on this one.
-
I always thought they should have released an enhanced or remastered RDR1 prior to the release of RDR2. I would have bought it back then. ....probably still would now but definitely back then.
-
I just found it funny that although I hadn't even played a CoD game in years, that still seems to be a sticking point for some in their community. ......just glad I wasn't accused of hacking when I won.
-
Yeah, I thought about that too but wasn't sure
-
Hi Slick and welcome to the forums. fyi... RDR2.org is a fan site not affiliated with R* or 2K in any way. Having said that, I have no idea if anyone from R* even reads these forums but if you are looking to bend their ear, they do have an official Feedback website that they do view: https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadonline/feedback?redirect_lang=en_us Obviously, we want you to feel free to post here as well (and encourage you to) but it wouldn't hurt to submit your feedback there as well. IIRC there is a character limit of 500 when you're typing but you can submit your feedback whenever you want. Anyhow, just thought I would point that out.

Looks like there may not be any news, bonuses, sales, etc. announced today. We've been getting regular updates in this regard every Tuesday for months. .....but today has been oddly quiet. I don't know if this silence today is an indicator of the Summer Update being just days away or what. For all I know, they may still come up with something before the end of the day. Either way, I will post up any new news that is released as soon as it hits. I just wanted to create this thread because I know of you folks kind of depend on these Tuesday updates and I didn't want you to think I just forgot. I will continue to keep you folks posted. - Kean

Thing is, when they have to push an update it needs to go through an approval process that can take days. I think with Sony that can translate to about a week or so before an update can actually be dropped to the consumer. I don't think it's the same for server side updates on their end though. All I'm saying is that there is nothing indicating that they will release an additional small update let alone specifically that feature so soon before the Summer update. ....and I just don't see them wasting time with the certification process twice like that and so close together. Not trying to rain on your parade, just explaining my reasoning. Yeah they did mention something about the character customization amongst other vague info on future content IIRC because people were asking for it (they were getting a lot for feedback about it) ....but then more details came out on the Summer Update and what that would include along with the latest which is what I shared there.

The following is all part of the "Summer Update" status / news: ADDITIONAL ENHANCEMENTS And in addition to these roles, the next update will also deliver a variety of new content and improvements aimed at enhancing all your experiences inside the world of Red Dead Online, whether within roles, competitive modes or simply exploring free roam. Substantial, across the board changes are being made to combat and movement to allow for a more responsive control system that still feels natural. Additional damage reduction to Defensive players is also on the horizon, and the game will now remember your preferred playing style (Offensive or Defensive) when you exit and relaunch the game. There will also be many more lootable items to be found throughout the world, like containers on wagons or the occasional Gold Tooth on an unfortunate soul. The next Red Dead Online update with also feature the ability to reset your character’s appearance and much, much more. Stay tuned for more details to come and check back for new weekly events in Red Dead Online. When they say the "next update", I think it's clear they are referring to the Summer Update. The excerpt above is a description of what is supposed to come in the Summer Update. These content drops seem to be settling into a seasonal schedule. The Spring update was mid May and the Summer Update seems set to release sometime before Fall begins (late-Sept). My guess is in the next week or two but that's just an assumption.
-
If it's an update they need to push out to us to make it happen, I really doubt it. We are so close to the Summer Update that it simply make no sense to only release that enhancement but who knows. .....but I don't see any reason to release just that prior to the larger update. More than likely we will get another week of bonuses and such with additional news on the upcoming update with possibly a specific release date. .....that's my call. I do have a feeling that news may come sooner rather than later though so stay tuned to see if that might be tomorrow.

Fyi.... I think your point got lost in translation somehow or I'm not understanding. Do you mean the storyline missions are feeling stale / repetitive? If so, I agree.

Well, got to play 2v2 last night for a little bit before I started getting a headache. I like how they slowed down the running a bit although you still get people unrealistically jumping off ledges and shooting in midair, sliding, etc. The pace is still twitch-like and the community didn't seem to change. .....someone actually messaged me through PSN saying "U camp 2 much". 😂 I blocked them and moved on. I was doing pretty good once I started learning the maps but 2v2 is just not enjoyable for me. It's was too run & gun for me. Weapons felt good although still a little too arcadey. ....the tactical reloads were kinda silly considering it's not even factored into the gameplay mechanics. I'm still interested in Realistic and SepcOps options as well as the Battle map modes (20v20 and 50v50).
-
I loved the mechanic and had hoped that they would have expanded on it in another iteration of the franchise. I guess it's reception is what helped give birth to Skull & Bones. ....but in Ubi fashion they'll drop the ball on that one too as I hear they decided that there would be no boarding party fights, etc. That's part of what made the raiding in Black Flag so fun IMO. Yeah, if you haven't played many game on PS4, there are a tone to choose from I think you would like. .....some I mentioned. Just depends on what exactly you're looking for.

Glad it turned out to be some sort of temp issue.

I take no joy in it and unfortunately other public posts were made elsewhere directly after this questioning my character / motives that had to be removed and dealt with. Yeah, I get the frustration and even think venting about it can be therapeutic (less the filter dodging ). I also had problems with 1st Tier support but success when my issues were escalated. Unfortunately, it seems the OP has not up to this point assuming the root it is not what they say. btw, I believe a quote by me was taken out of context implying I was trying to point the finger squarely on the OP or their ISP. I wasn't when you look at the omitted sentence above that in the original post: "The issue can also be on your end simply due to location, traffic, other equipment, etc. .....but then again, it might not be. My point is, your argument about Mediacom being a large provider and the large customer base is moot That does not mean that individuals still do not have issues using their service." Again, I am not suggesting the OP's issue with the game is definitely with his ISP nor am I saying he didn't have a bad experience with R* Support. ....an entity I have no affiliation with btw. I have had issues with the game and with Support as well as mentioned. I also know disconnect issues still haunt some since the beginning of RDO's launch. In fact, I think one of our fellow moderators ( @BropolloCreed79 ) is still plagued by DC problems. While I think it's obvious there's little chance that the OPs revolt will gain traction, I hope his issues finally get resolved or perhaps is able to move on from RDO if that's his intention.

What other games have out tried already? There are still some good SP titles that tell a decent story out there on this generation of console. Days Gone was supposed to be pretty good once they tackled some of the big bugs. The Witcher 3 had a decent story but was loooooong. The original The Last of Us.....a game on rails but a really good story and really well made in that respect. Kingdom Come Deliverance was ok although it suffered from bugs which I'm sure are mostly squashed by now. ....one of the best and most challenging melee mechanics I've come across. Sword fighting is really cool and rewarding. You really feel like you are gaining experience along with your character but it's on the hardcore side of gaming in that way. Fallout 4 was good. I'm not really huge on story and I do like open world so games like GR Wildlands really appealed to me. I like tactical shooters and it had a main story you could unravel at your own pace. ......like the AC games. As for other Ubi games, Watch Dogs was kinda fun but Far Cry 5 killed the series for me. Just like they did after AC: Black Flag by going back to the same old boring format before BF with the next title.

Fyi.... The download for the CoD MW Alpha is now available in the Playstation store. Just do a search under Call of Duty Modern Warfare and you should see it among the other preorders. Again, this is only for PS4 and is free this weekend. It is also only for the 2v2 mode.
