It was essentially gone once the proximity blips came into play. The app map only provided a little bit more detail for those just outside of the radar but you can still see them on the edge of your radar. The only real advantage was being able to look at the map and plot routes while on the move. .....which does give the player using it a bit of an advantage in that respect.

Yeah. I was bummed about that too. It lost part of it's usefulness when the proximity blips became a thing but was still really handy to plot paths and such. I dunno..... Maybe they thought it was an unfair advantage to those who used it and wanted to level the playing field.

I'm going to go ahead and shut this thread down for obvious reasons.

I'm semi retired and home most of the time so I just checked back every once in a while until it was done. It was a slow download perhaps in part due to the traffic?

Yeah.... I haven't even tried it out myself yet. I'll be logging on later tonight. I just turned on the system earlier today just to make sure the update was downloading.

Any posts after that line are new as of the last time you visited the thread. For example, I see a red line just above your post.

@Anarchtheist, You may as well tell people what exactly the secret(s) is. Anyone who wanders into this thread will know there are spoilers ahead after reading the first post. I have no reason to think there will be a problem bar any bugs and such that are introduced by the update. I'm sure the traffic won't be too much of a stress. ......well, at least I see no reason to wait to download, install and play. If there are problems, I'll deal with them at that point. No sense worrying about it now.

Well, griefers will be griefers and they'll always try to find ways to use new skills, weapons, etc against other players but if you read the description of what the update will bring, there are also things that are supposed to help players avoid them in this update. Even some of the other perks players can earn from these roles. .....not to mention the fact that those who prey on the innocent will also become targets themselves. ....so, I'm not too worried about what potential advantages the lasso will provide to them against me, etc.

Well first, I don't think you can come to any conclusions with such a small sampling of players (11 so far?). Two, you are asking folks to chose between the roles when some are obviously interested in trying all 3. Players are not going to be stuck with just one. We also don't know enough about how each class will work, the sharing of profits / rewards within posses, etc. A lot of this will affect the roles people choose. Also, the Bounty Hunter is not all about going after other players. It will be NPCs and could also include those who have a high enough bounty on their head (over $25 iirc). ......so there's really no trolling involved here and the choice is still ultimately up to the hunter whether they want to pursue real players. I still believe the Bounty Hunter will be a popular role. ......but I also think folks will be trying the others as well perhaps simultaneously like some of us here will be doing.

Yeah, don;t really know. I'm not sure if that;s something the leader (the one initiating the mission) will have more control over or there will be a set cut, etc. I do know that when doing some missions with your group in GTAO, everyone gets the same.

It appears it will. From their description of the Bounty hunter: Taking on an armed gang or bringing multiple targets to justice is made easier with the help of a Posse, who will all earn a cut of the final bounty. And keep in mind, bringing in targets alive will yield a greater reward. .....so yeah, your friends / posse can be involved in these activities with you. I suspect it may be similar to how the heists and such work in GTAVO where the cut can be determined by the leader or like the missions where the cut is essentially equal. Maybe you can get more solo and less with a posse but the latter is much easier. .....we'll just have to wait to see how all that works out.
