I agree. It is a long time but R* is known for making quality game experiences that I just don't think would be possible without the length of time they spend in development. No idea on what the storyline would be but I'm sure they would come up with something interesting.

It took R* 8 years(?) between the release of RDR and RDR2. RDR2 was big success for them and while I'm fairly confident they will come out with an RDR3 or an equivalent, I suspect it won't likely be until sometime around 2025. Hell, we still haven't seen the successor to GTAV and that game has been around since 2008. The focus right now is on the next gen update for GTAV this year: “The new generation versions of GTAV will feature a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades and performance enhancements to take full advantage of the latest hardware, making the game more beautiful and more responsive than ever. Well, activity (or lack of it) on this site is far from an indicator as to the health of the online community in RDO. There are other fan forums and social media accounts, etc. RDR2.org has never been a largely active site even in RDO's heyday. .....but it's always provided a better experience IMO as we don't have the trolls and mean spirited attitudes you might find elsewhere. .....or at least they are not put up with here. I'll agree that RDO should have more attention paid to it. The weekly discounts aren't enough to keep everyone interested. They need more meaningful content like GTAO gets. We do know that they still have plans for RDO but because R* is so tight lipped, we simply don't know what we can expect or when. The only recent news was the remarks regarding how they want to release more solo / coop content for both GTAO and RDO. I logged in the other day after many months of not playing RDO and was placed in a full lobby. I was just testing RDO on my new PS5.

I'm going to go ahead and move this to the Online forum to get a little more exposure but I'll try to answer some of your questions.... New accounts are not allowed to message others unless they have a certain number of posts. Initial posts from new accounts ae also vetted prior to being allowed to be shown. We get a lot of scammers, spammers and other folks who are more interested in serving their own self interest (e.g. self promotion of their site / YT channel and so on) vs. becoming part of this community. Personally, I would respond in their thread if you're interested in joining even if they say to message. Those who create posse threads and don't come back after a month or two, I usually will close their threads anyhow so as not to waste other members time. PC is a bit of a different animal. There are a lot of hackers unlike on console. That's not to say console doesn't have issues like that but most are using exploits, glitches, etc., not hacks. Personally, I rarely played with the chat on except in the early days when I was trying to find people to join up with. I honestly have no interest in what other players have to say as its usually nothing good if they even say anything at all. That's true for a lot of games though. I'm on PS5 and use party chat when I'm with friends. I think you're doing the right thing looking for a group online. I think you'll find the game much more fun if you do. RDO is PvPvE. ....so basically, it's player vs. player and player vs. environment, NPCs, etc. There's no official private lobby system although there may be ways to trick yourself into a private session. However, there are options you can select that will help mitigate trolling / griefing like the Defensive Mode. This won't stop players from being able to kill you but if someone does indiscriminately try to attack you, it does give you some advantages. If they succeed in killing you, you will respawn further away from the area and given some other choices as well. However, there is nothing that will make you invisible or immune to attacks like a true passive mode. My recommendation is to simply stay away from others when playing alone. More often than not, getting near people will just result in them trying to kill you as they either think you're out to do them harm or they want to do you harm. When I used to play, I would choose a region to spawn into that was across the map from where I actually wanted to be. I'm not sure if it's still the case but the game would typically spawn people into the same general area. Traveling away from the spawn point typically gave me some breathing room for a while so I could go hunt, etc. .....and I never enter towns where there are more than a couple players. Even then its a risk unless its just you. Hope that helps and I hope you find a group you can explore RDO with.

I played around with Astros Playroom which is a good showcase for the controller. While I liked CoD:MW, I wasn't impressed with Cold War unfortunately. ....after playing the betas and seeing how they reverted back to the old CoD feel vs. continuing down the path IW laid, my friends and I passed on the game.

I may have to give it a go. I did try Days Gone and it's buttery smooth at 60FPS. Other games affected by performance issues are worlds better (e.g. DayZ, although BI capped it a 30 FPS) and others are simply improved like the load times. Btw, Ghost of Tsushima also looks and plays great. Another game that took advantage of the backward compatibility feature to increase the frame rate. What I'm looking forward to are the games made specifically for PS5 to take advantage of the DualSense controller. I can't wait for Gran Turismo or even new shooters that may play around with trigger feel, jams, etc. I think the controller is the biggest thing with the PS5 that we really can't expore right now but has so much potential.

Hi @NYWardawg and welcome. I generally consider "griefing" as unprovoked aggression intended to troll or cause grief to other players. There are grey areas but in events and activities that invite other players participation (e.g. deliveries, etc.), that's an entirely different story. These sorts of open activities are meant to encourage others to join in as adversaries. Now, if these others players continue to hunt your down after the event is over, that's sort of crossing the line at that point. This is true for general interactions as well. Players who continue to pester and go after others for no reason other than to cause frustration are trolling / griefing. No doubt about that IMO and R* agrees. If you're into blowing up towns, rousting NPCs and so on, I don't consider that being toxic. .......but if your into blowing up a town and killing NPCs as well as fellow players minding their own business, yeah, that's obviously treading into troll territory IMO.
