  1. You know @HuDawg... I think it’s just the fact we want separate games. I want an immersive western themed RPG like experience. I’m suspecting you want a western 3rd person shooter with a few side activities. Don't get me wrong, I won’t be all that upset if separated lobbies become a thing, though I do think it might have the unintended side effect of watering down the regular lobbies to those that can’t be bothered to waste their time mastering the ridiculous skill of moving a near invisible white dot onto a target at lightning speed with joysticks, and those that want to take cheap shots and prey on people. If this happens, it’s game over for me. As for the intended effect of defensive mode, it is designed to limit the amount of cheap shots you get when you want to just go about your business without completely eliminating the danger present in the open world. From what I observed, it does this fairly well. Even when not in defensive mode I’ve noticed a drastic reduction in getting killed for no particular reason... I fail to see how it doesn’t make sense. But like I said, you want your game and I want my game. They just happen to be different games. Only my game requires Rockstar to try to reinvent the wheel, whereas your game already exists. Sorry to disagree with you. I’m not saying your point of view isn’t valid. But I truly am hoping Rockstar keeps trying to break the mold instead of turning RDR2 into GTA old west...
  2. Look, at the end of the day I’m not sure it matters too much if there are separate lobbies or not. But from what I’ve been seeing, the defensive/aggressive play modes are having The intended results. So far, the only people complaining all that much about it seem to be the small fraction of players that want to be completely death-proof. Maybe another small fraction that feel like they should be able to see everyone on the map and make free roam into a big death match with the ability to kill indiscriminately with no consequences. I’m not seeing all the doom and gloom you have been predicting since the initial hostility system. I haven’t seen a single player trying to abuse the defensive mode for griefing purposes. I’m not getting unnecessarily punished by a so called ‘kill tax’ for defending myself. I’m running into way fewer aggressive players. People are interacting more and defaulting to ‘shoot all other players on sight’ less. It seems to me that it’s turning out just fine and as intended. I suppose other experiences may differ, but I’m not hearing about it all that much aside from an isolated incident here or there. So yeah. I guess I’m living in bizzaro world. I just don’t see how it’s so urgent to split up the player base at this time. Maybe it’ll prove to be the prudent move down the road. But I like how they’re trying to make something new and different rather than churning out the same old game with a different map. For the first time in a while I’m actually enjoying an online game and I for one am willing to see how it turns out before condemning it. Feel free to disagree.
  3. All I know is I spent a couple hours trying to randomly hop into that mission, and when I finally got it I didn’t get 10 bars lol. I’ll have to keep an eye out.
  4. This I can definitely get behind... one week only. Special ammo like silver bullets and wooden stakes (special arrows?) and holy water...Werewolves, vampires, ghosts...
  5. I should also add, I don’t like GTAOnline despite having all the private servers and whatever else... it’s just not done right. Here is hoping RDR2 gets the perfect combination of everything
  6. I didn’t like RDR1 because it had no purpose... you couldn’t even make your own character... but this time around the game has potential to be more than a pick your style of aiming kill everything game:
  7. Look, I realize I his isn’t the game you want... and on a side note, I have played RDR1 and thought the online was crap. I had hopes for GTA5 online, but that went down the tube before PS4 was released... I see RDR2 turning into the game I finally want to play (it’s made a good early start). But it has a little ways to go. Sorry it’s not just another of the same old 24/7 death match, but if it was I wouldn’t even be here now. If that is what you like, there are other games to play. Me, I don’t want that and I’m hoping RDR2 stays away from that path.
  8. Look,no one (well, maybe one or two) is asking for a kill proof gaming experience. What The majority wants is balance and reason. If you are going to kill me, do it for some purpose. ‘Because... it’s the Wild West’ isn’t a proper motive. No, this new system doesn’t eliminate this. But it drastically reduces the amount of times we all die for no particular reason. Like I said, if all you want to do is run around and kill people there are games for that. If you want at proper RPG with an-old west theme, than its worth sticking around for what is offered here.
  9. I’m not a dog on a leash. I’m a consumer spending my money on a game I like. If you don’t like the direction they game is going and would rather just kill people aimlessly, go play Call of Duty (see, that griefer ‘go play...’ argument works both ways). Personally I like how things are right now. I hope it keeps progressing this way. This game is so much more than an aimless free roam death match. If you can’t see that, then you are the ‘I kill the (nameless anPC)’ player I kept kicking out of my D&D groups. Sure, players can still kill you. Sure, your not invincible. Sure, people will shill be a$$holes. But we have some balance. Sorry it doesn’t meet your free aim kill every blip on the map play style, but as I said, go playbCoD
  10. Wow... and I spent over two hours trying to get the one that had the bonus gold before I realized it was all a big lie lol
  11. No, the wheel doesn’t work fine... the main reason I don’t play most online games much. Including GTA (even though I love the story mode). However, I like where RDR2 seems to be going. Time will tell if it has staying power I suppose, but I for one am glad they are trying to reinvent the wheel and do something refreshingly different. ok... so today I haw an encounter that initially pissed me off but made me realize people are just assholes and need to be forced into the vision rather than just presented with the platform and allowed to have fun. I was riding into Blackwater. One lone blue blip on the map that I initially ignored. Dead... well, I came at him a few times and he was pretty good. I say on the mic ‘you must spend a lot of time griefing people to be so good at this’. His reply ‘I’m so tired of people trying to kill me for no reason that I just shoot everyone in range now’. Well, we had a discussion and we both agreed that people are assholes and ruin online games. Seems a lot of people out there are looking for something different.
  12. I have to stick with my original thoughts. As much fun as it would be to shoot zombies or aliens, it’s really nothing new. I’d much rather have additional chapters of canon material. But It’s most likely the case that I won’t see that until RDR3 where the main protagonists is the O’Driscol guy and Dutch have their big feud. (One of the many stories in the RDR was told I’d love to explore). So, since I’d likely never see canon expansion, I’d rather have zombies than aliens. However I loved the old AD&D ‘Tale of the Comet’... so If done right I think the alien thing could be fun.
  13. I think it would be a good idea. If I was willing to bet on what I guess rockstar might do, I’d guess when they get working on the paths, it’ll be incorporated into one or more of them somehow. Maybe satchel for the trader one... bandolier for the bounty hunter etc. They did say each would have its own abilities.
  14. I catch them all lol. I do use the other lures during free roam fishing events, but when I’m fishing for profit I’ll fill my satchel with every species in the area and hopefully a large fish for my horse. Plus I find it kind of funny how you can jam so many fish into your pocket... add in all the animal meat, small hides, squirrels and birds on the ride to the fishing spot and back to the butcher... that’s one magic satchel indeed. I’m pretty sure I couldn’t fit even half as much my old army duffle bags.
  15. Do you have a plus account? It’s needed to play the online game. There was a promotion for a little bit, but I believe it ended the other day.
  16. They mentioned something about trading through your camp in one of the paths coming out this summer....
  17. Personally, I splurged and got the special spinner early on. I rarely use anything else. I fill up my sachel with whatever happens to be around and move on... I have noticed your more likely to catch a fish on each cast since the update, but since I don’t keep detailed logs, I thought maybe I’m imagining it.
  18. The message I got said to go to your wardrobe and look for it:..
  19. Hmm... I had no issues. The first place I went. Though only one door would open for me.
  20. I had the issue once this morning, while trying to load in for the first time. Then I had something like four hours of uninterrupted game time... I did a whole lot of stranger missions.
  21. I think as far as the game goes, the only difference is testiculars...
  22. I’d ‘uninstall’ everything he has... bed, dressers, bicycle, etc. And put all the parts in a big mixed up pile... give him a wrench and screwdriver to ‘reinstall’ his things with lol. i I tended to quote bropello... oops
  23. Well, I played for hours without a single disconnect or stranger bug... either I got lucky or they fixed it
  24. Well, I’m downloading an150mb update... I guess I’ll see if it contains a fix...
  25. But, I already killed all the zombies in new Austin... LOL
