"players with those Cards are USUALLY scumbags or griefers." I didn't say that all players who use those Cards are scumbags or griefers. It's just usually the case that players with those Cards lean that way, at least in my experience. For me it's very similar to GTA Online, the vast majority of players who wore bulletproof helmets in GTA Online were tryhards so if I saw a player with a bulletproof helmet I would more often than not avoid them or kill them if they came towards me. The Never Without One Card is the RDO equilavent of a bulletproof helmet, I'm far less trustworthy of players with it equipped.

I rarely hunt or start Stranger Missions in RDO anymore so I usually have nothing to lose when interacting with other players therefore I never feel the need to shoot on sight. I'll usually shoot in self defence if shot at but sometimes I don't even do that. I've stood unarmed waving at another player while they reloaded their Springfield Rifle to kill me after missing my head with their first shot, the RDO community are a bloodthirsty bunch but as soon as you start shooting back and they realise they're not going to get anymore easy kills they'll quickly run away, parley or leave the session. It's pathetic to be honest. The only players that seem to carry on fighting and engage in player vs player combat are tryhards with Slow And Steady and/or Never Without One equipped, if I happen to see another player coming my way with one or both of these Ability Cards equipped I'll always be very cautious or give them a wide birth because players with those Cards are usually scumbags or griefers.

What is the actual penalty for people griefing?
Archbell replied to DiamondDave's topic in Red Dead Online
People are able to report other players through Rockstar or Xbox Live/PSN but the threat of being reported isn't a deterrent for griefers. Rockstar are the enablers of griefers, many in-game features, weapons etc that they incorporate into their games are a griefers wet dream so I don't see them penalising griefers without being prompted a fair amount. A lot of people I talk to say griefing and lack of content are the two biggest issues with RDO, lack of content is something that is sure to change with time but griefing has been an issue since GTA Online and I don't see this complaint going away anytime soon. I think Rockstar will want to keep a moderate amount of griefing present in their online games moving forward, I bet Rockstar and Take-Two have made a fair bit of money off people who bought Sharks Cards in order to purchase the very same overpowered in game vehicles/weapons they get griefed by. If RDO takes a similar route to GTA Online griefers will only become more of a problem although the amount of griefers present in RDO may subside when Rockstar introduce more content and activities for players to involve themselves in. -

What an entertaining thread this turned out to be, been real busy lately so I haven't been on the forum much so I feel a bit late to the party but it's been hilarious to read through the comments nonetheless. Poor moron trying and failing to promote his mediocre content gets salty when others critic his stupidity and lack of skill, I love it.

For fun, what's your horse's name/names?
Archbell replied to Major Dammidge's question in Questions & Answers
I have an Arabian called The Duke, an American Standardbred called Mortimer and a Turkoman called Faroe after the islands. -
It's easy for a game like this in it's current state to turn a lot of players into griefers, the game doesn't leave you with that much else to do. I never attack players without reason, I only go after players who either choose to shoot me on site or those that are involved in Freeroam work that I can benefit from.

I don't mind being required to do a fair bit of grinding in games but the way they've implemented the two types of currency is plain stupid, some items can only be bought with gold bars which makes buying everything from horses to clothing a ridiculous grind. If you want to change the metal your Cattleman Revolver is made out of it will cost you 12 gold bars which is insane, you can buy a brand new Bolt Action Rifle for just $360 cash.

When you meet Horley in Blackwater he sends you out to do three missions which all involve decisions which test how honourable or dishonourable you are, the decisions you make in these missions decide what the next two missions he sends you on will be, if you want to complete all 8 missions and get 100% story completion you'll have to replay the three starting missions and make different choices to unlock the other two missions. Keep in mind Rockstar will be adding more missions that continue the story, four people where involved in the killing you were wrongly convicted of and completing the story missions we have so far only allows you to take down one of the four people responsible.

Thankfully you can't utilize that stuff in Freeroam for the time being. My heart sunk a little when I played that mission but only because I know how Rockstar's greed and lack of creativity can often lead to overpowered weapons and equipment, it was a cool mission and a nice nod to Ned Kelly but I'd hate to see that kinda that Ng in Freeroam.

I don't envy you guys having to wait while others play, I wouldn't wanna be living in Hawaii right now.

I'm just over 4 hours in and I'm loving it, I think the pace is brilliant and I am constantly reminded that I haven't even scratched the surface. This game is like a never-ending jawbreaker.

We are hours away from the release of Red Dead Redemption II. It's been over eight years since Red Dead Redemption was released and it is undoubtedly a gaming masterpiece, one that has stood the test of time but if Red Dead Redemption II is half the game it's cracked up to be I know I won't be returning to 1911 anytime soon so it's farewell to the older more repentful John Marston. John Marston's story of redemption was one of the greatest stories Rockstar has ever told, characters encountered throughout the game were often relatable and had a great level of depth to them. Rockstar's ability to write truly engaging characters is one of the reasons I'm greatly looking forward to Red Dead Redemption II. Below is a video tribute someone made to Red Dead Redemption using various scenes throughout the game all put to "In Time" by Mark Collie, I think it makes for a great watch but if you haven't played Red Dead Redemption don't watch the video below as it shows key scenes from throughout the story.

Don't watch the leaks! (Spoiler free info)
Archbell replied to Aimesleje's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
I watched some of the leaked gameplay but I didn't find it at all interesting to watch, it appeared to have been recorded on a potato and the dude playing either had no functioning fingers or had never held a controller before. -
I turn 22 this Friday, I was 13 when Red Dead Redemption came out and I've been waiting for another Red Dead game ever since so I hope this new installment proves to have been worth the wait. I'll add you next time I load up my Xbox.
-
Damn, I didn't think there were this many old gamers on the forum and I'm glad to see there's people triple my age also looking forward to Red Dead Redemption II.
-
Yeah, gotta be careful to avoid spoilers in the run-up to Friday. Thankfully there was nothing that could be considered a spoiler in the 20 seconds of footage that is circulating at the moment, this is our first sizable leak since Red Dead Redemption II's map leaked over two years ago. The leaked footage shows off the shooting mechanics rather well although I'm not a fan of the new weapon wheel, I preferred how the weapon wheel looked in the gameplay series but everything else looks great.

I enjoyed Undead Nightmare but I feel Rockstar could do a lot better in terms of DLC for Red Dead Redemption II, recycling the tired old zombies trope seems like a waste of Rockstar's skills and creativity.

The vast majority of members on this forum are over 18 but you'd be hard pressed to find any mature people amongst them, I have a Posse on the forum but we don't check anyone's age or level of maturity at the door so I can't say whether or not as a whole we're a mature bunch or not. They're aren't many Posses on the forum yet because Red Dead Online doesn't come out till next month so most people are focused on the singleplayer and less so on grouping up with fellow players but given the large number of new members who have joined this forum in the run-up to release I'm sure you'll be able to find a Posse that suits you after the release of Red Dead Online or you could always form your own Posse for mature players, anyone on the forum can form a Posse.

Just under five days till release, can't wait to dive into the story of Red Dead Redemption II and later Red Dead Online.
-
I'm hoping to have a fair few horses for different situations, Kushti, Brom and Cash are the names I'm most keen on at the moment.
-
It was similar to Dead Eye level 2 minus the slow-motion and used to paint targets with crosses after which you unloaded your weapon with increased speed, damage and range, it was extremely overpowered so I'm hoping it's either tweaked heavily for Red Dead Online or not included in Red Dead Online at all.

Forum Opening Giveaway: Win a Copy of Red Dead Redemption 2!
Archbell replied to Lonestar's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
Ha, I was under the impression that me and you were out of the running. I assumed that when I agreed to be a Moderator I was dropping out of the giveaway. -
I wouldn't be so sure that all the weaponry information we're receiving is strictly for campaign, people are concerned with good reason as Rockstar tend to do a pretty shoddy job when it comes to PVP balancing in their multiplayer games. I also wouldn't be surprised if Dead Eye is included in Red Dead Online, Dead Eye was included in Red Dead Redemption Multiplayer.
-
I would assume that Red Dead Online is finished on a base level and the continued work that they're doing in terms of motion capture and writing is for future Red Dead Online DLC updates, GTA Online had a number of DLC updates that required Rockstar to bring in actors for further motion capture and voice acting work.
