Who's having a Red Dead Online gaming marathon?
Vendetta replied to Vendetta's topic in Red Dead Online
Tell me about it. Last weekend was the same for me. The day's of gaming when were kids are long gone. By the way, one You Tuber has rumored that Red Dead Online will be available on PC at launch. I just hope that there are no server side issue's at launch, like we are experiencing on consoles. -
Who is having a Red Dead Online gaming marathon this weekend? I will be taking breaks to watch Wyatt Earp's Revenge and other Western's as well.

So here's what I know from my own experience. I experience disconnects on my Xbox One X at my place. If I use my sister Xbox One S at her location which has a different ISP then the company that I use, no disconnects at all. This only seems to happen on Red Dead Online. No other games have been an issue. But no, I do not believe it is deliberate. That doesn't even make any sense from business model.

I plan on using the Xbox controller for Red Dead Redemption 2. Most games that I play the controller is the better option for me. Other games, keyboard and mouse is the way to go. I could be wrong, but I think that those who wish to use the PS4 controller on PC will have to map out their buttons since it only auto ports on Xbox controllers. Maybe someone who uses the PS4 controller on PC can confirm.

I can confirm that once I installed the RockStar Launcher, GTA 5 will alway's default to the launcher for startup. I generally just go in my Steam menu to start GTA 5 as I'm just use to doing it this way. One thing that I would like to mention is that anyone who is thinking about waiting for the Steam release will have to wait an extra month. Those who pre-order through the launcher, will only have to wait just over 2 weeks from now.

I would think you could, but I never tried it. Anymore, I just get on GTA Online to hang out with friends that I have met throughout playing the game.

Thanks for putting together a PC Part Picker list. From everything I've been reading lately, I would have to agree that the Ryzen 5 is the way to go. I actually decided on going the micro ATX route so good call on that!. Maybe there will be some good deals on the GTX 1070 8GB cards next month, but if there's not then the GTX 1660 6GB TI should be a great fit for this build. Come to think of it, I wonder if there would even be that much advantage with GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5, over the GTX 1660 6GB TI with it's faster GDDR 6 memory.

Are there any Console vs PC screenshot comparisons yet?
Vendetta replied to shiverz's topic in Red Dead Online
I can say this, my gaming desk currently has an Asus VG245 60Hz 1080p monitor with the PlayStation 4 Slim and the Xbox One X. Keep in mind that I'm only running at 1080p. GTA 5 is far better on my gaming laptop with Intel i5 and GTX 1050 TI 4 GB then the Xbox One X. But comparing Call of Duty WWII, it is way better on the Xbox One X. Assassin's Creed Origins is amazing on the Xbox One X, but I don't have it on PC to compare. In general, I find that the PC will offer you more, but not alway's. Optmization is key. Digital Foundary concluded that the Xbox One X provided the best experience for Red Dead Redemption 2 on console due to the hardware. No doubt that the PC version will be great!. -
I don't think Rockstar cares if you mod, provided that it is offline.

Currently play on a gaming laptop. Intel i5-7300HQ 2.50 GHz 16 GB Ram GTX 1050 TI 4 GB Windows 10 I'm considering building a gaming desktop. So far, this gaming laptop is great. Best way to play GTA 5!.

You get the opition to receive two games for free at checkout. I pre-ordered in the launcher yesterday.
-
Not sure, but as a guess I would say no. Let me explain. I purchased Grand Theft Auto 5 on Steam. I then received Grand Theft Auto San Andreas for free in the launcher. If I go to Steam and search for Grand Theft Auto San Andreas in the Steam store, nothing shows and I only have the opition to buy the game.
-
I haven't heard anything, and I pre-ordered yesterday in the Rockstar Games launcher. I got Grand Theft Auto Vice City and L.A. Noire for free!. FYI, Steam has a very good return policy. What are your system's specs?

I'm thinking about gathering the parts for a desktop gaming PC build. I'll will buy part by part, so budget shouldn't be to much of an issue. But the cheaper I can keep cost down, the better. So I was thinking about getting the Ryzen 5 2600 from Newegg at $119.99 and calling it a day. But coming in at $169.99 at Newegg is the Ryzen 7 1700X. Two more cores isn't bad, although I don't know to much about CPU tech. I'm willing to spend up to the $170.00 for a CPU, but not if I don't need it. I haven't decided on a GPU at the moment. I'll wait for the deals during the upcoming Black Friday Hunger Games. But nothing under a GTX 1060 6GB. Don't know much about the new GTX 1660 6GB. What would be the better CPU of the two, with consideration of GPU performance based on CPU power? Update: From my research, some people say that most games use around 4 cores, 6 cores is more than enough. Would still like to hear opinions on this.

It is way to early to make decision. There is not enough information available from either company.

Female Gamers: Are they too much a distraction for male players?
Vendetta replied to YodaMan 3D's topic in Off-Topic
We fixed the glitch. He won't be receiving a paycheck anymore, so it will just work itself out naturally!. -
To give you a true, unbiased answer to your question, which console is better for you. Both are great at what they do and with next generation coming next year, you need to start thinking about backwards compatibility, and games you might want to play in the future after you move on to next gen. If price is an issue, Xbox One is going to be your best opition with the 500 GB model coming in at $50.00 USD cheaper than the PS4. Don't get to bent up over a 1 TB hard drive for $50.00 USD more, far better to put that towards an external hard drive such as the WD My Book 3 TB hard drive currently on sale at Best Buy for $89.99 USD. Most 3 TB external USB 3.0 hard drives can be purchased for around $100.00 USD and a 500 GB internal hard drive is enough to get you by. Now if It's higher end console performance that you desire on a budget, the Sony PlayStation 4 Pro is going to be the best value for your money, coming in at $399.99. That's $100.00 USD cheaper than the Microsoft Xbox One X. The Microsoft Xbox One X is the better opition in terms of getting better hardware for your money. But It's more than just price, your buying a console to game on so you need ask yourself, what games do I want to play, are they exclusive to one brand, or which games that you like perform better on which console. I currently own both the Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox One, as well as a gaming PC and the answer to question is, whatever gaming system that is best for you.

This reminds me of Milton from the movie Office Space. -
I'm waiting for more information from Microsoft and Sony, before I make a decision. I currently own a Sony PlayStation 4 Slim, Microsoft Xbox One X, both using an Asus VG245 gaming monitor, and a PC gaming laptop. I'm thinking in the future, just having one console and a gaming PC would be fine, but I know me!.

There's lot's of great show's out there, even several great exclusives with the popular streaming services. I guess it depends on what like, so I would need more info. Hulu and Netflix have some great content and is a great place to start. You can find episodes from a lot of the older shows on You Tube. Hogan's Heros is a classic with many episodes that can be found on You Tube. If It's Westerns that you crave, check out some of the Gunsmoke episodes. For current day opitions, The Big Bang Theory, Blue Bloods, Deadwood, are some few more recent series.

Sorry to hear that. I haven't been able try this myself, but my thinking is that we are both going to be in the same boat. With so many player's experiencing this issue, it has to be server side.

This is what brought me here. I'm playing on the Xbox One X and having the same issue. Now when I play the game on an Xbox One S at a different location and internet connection, I don't seem to have the same issues. No other online game on my Xbox One X is experencing connection issues. Btw, my Xbox One X is using Spectrum high speed internet with Specturm supplied modem. My console is using Wifi from a high speed wireless router that I purchased myself. The Xbox One S that is not experencing connection issues currently, is using a wireless modem supplied from the cable ISP. I did find the following post below from R*, in refference to connection issues. I haven't had a chance to try this yet, but if it works for you, let us know!. ____ Red Dead Online Connection Troubleshooting for Xbox One Question: I keep getting disconnected and I am having problems matchmaking or staying connected to other players. How can I improve my connection? Answer: Below are steps to clear your system cache, check your connection speed, verify your Network Address Translation (NAT) Types are set correctly, verify that the correct network ports are open and a common router settings check. Check the Red Dead Online Status Before troubleshooting, make sure to check our Red Dead Online Status page (https://support.rockstargames.com/servicestatus) to rule out an outage or scheduled maintenance as a cause of the issue. If the Red Dead Online status currently says UP, the problem may be related to some connection types conflicting with other players, or other problems with your network setup. Clear your Xbox One Cache To perform a cache clear for your Xbox One system follow the instructions here: https://support.rockstargames.com/articles/115015352427/ Clear Your Xbox One Alternate MAC addresses Press the Xbox button Move right to the System Tab Select Settings Select Network Settings Select Advanced Settings Select Alternate MAC Address Select the Clear button Check your Internet Connection Speed You can check your connection speed at any online speed test, such as http://speedtest.net Good targets for minimum for upload and download speeds are: Upload Speed (Minimum): 1 Mbps Download Speed: 5 Mbps Note: If you are on a wireless connection, it may be a good idea to try using a wired, Ethernet connection and see if you are still having issues. Check your Network Address Translation (NAT) Type settings A more open NAT Type will have fewer conflicts with other player systems and encounter less connectivity issues with other players. NAT Type Definitions OPEN NAT Type: Can play games with any NAT type. MODERATE NAT Type: Can play games with open or moderate NAT types. STRICT NAT Type: Can only play games with open NAT types. Xbox One NAT Type Setting Navigate to the Settings panel and choose Network Under the Current Network Status column in the center of this page displays your NAT Type settings. Check your Firewall / Router for NAT Type restrictions If you have a firewall or other network hardware, such as a router, you may need to access them to change your NAT type. Sometimes this configuration change is caused by opening or forwarding other network ports. Check your Open Network Ports We suggest that the Red Dead Online have the following ports open: Xbox Live requires the following ports to be open: Port 88 (UDP) Port 53 (UDP and TCP) Port 3544 (UDP) Port 4500 (UDP) We Recommend the following additional ports to be opened for Red Dead Online: Port 500 (UDP) Port 3047 (UDP) Port 6672 (UDP) Port 61455 (UDP) Port 61456 (UDP) Port 61457 (UDP) Port 61458 (UDP) Ports 30211-30217 (TCP) Change your Domain Name Servers (DNS) Open the guide by pressing the Xbox button on your controller Move right to the System tab Select Settings Select Network Select Network settings Select Advanced settings Make sure to write down your existing DNS servers from this screen Select DNS settings Select Manual Enter the following DNS servers (Google) Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8 Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4 Reset Your Network Router Generally, you can reset your router by unplugging your router and leaving it unplugged for about 10 minutes. While you do this, we suggest that you restart the game client as well. Once complete, check to see if your issue is resolved. Additional Troubleshooting Steps Check with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and see if they are experiencing any issues connecting to us, or if they have any temporary outages. Make sure your router’s firmware is up-to-date (check with your ISP) Enable UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) on your router. This allows the game to automatically configure port forwarding which can help with connectivity issues. However, some routers have incorrect UPnP behavior. If you are still having connectivity issues when UPnP is enabled, try disabling UPnP to see if the problem persists. If you have a combined router/modem or ADSL, try temporarily setting the unit to Bridge Mode. This will bypass the router part of the hardware. If this fixes the issue, you may be able to connect a second router between the combination unit and the console to dial the PPPoE connection. If you use an ADSL connection, check to see if dialing a PPPoE connection from the console improves your NAT type. If your router has a feature for a pass-through MAC address or IP address, you can set it to the MAC/IP of your console, this will eliminate the need for bridge mode to stay open. ____
