Xbox is having issues that Rockstar say they are working on. Most/all Xbox players can't connect, while PS4 seems to be connecting alright (with the exception of what seems like a small percent that can't get on). There also seem to be stability issues after joining, according to some of the articles reviewing the problems. They mention many bugs, but dropped connection is the only one they specifically stated. This could be fixed by tomorrow (I'm hoping for it being fixed in the next couple hours before I get home, spent two hours this morning trying to connect before giving up and going to work)

There's several threads about this already. Rockstar is aware of an issue with Xbox One players not able to get on at all, they haven't said anything else since about an hour after the launch (launch was 830a EST today). It seems to be mostly affecting Xbox users (all Xbox users from what I could gather), although I have seen some reports of PS4 users unable to connect either.

GTA O has me a bit worried about RDR online
KRooKeD KRoW replied to HuDawg's topic in Red Dead Online
From what I've been able to gather, no, there is no passive mode, or even a closed session (friends, solo, etc like in GTA:O). The only thing that might protect you online right now is "flying a white flag" when you're in your camp. Not sure exactly how that works since RDO was still down for me when I left for work, but what I've read says it basically makes your camp a safe zone (kinda like when you run into your garage, apartment, etc in GTA:O). Not sure if this is a default function, or something you activate like passive mode in GTA. But as many have said, that could very likely change once the launch is completed and everything is ironed out (not necessarily everything, sometimes companies like to release new content even though the base game is still buggy as hell... looking at Funco Games with Conan Exiles specifically right now, so many bugs at launch, and they focused on getting their DLC you pay extra for out instead of fixing anything at all). -
Have the ultimate edition can’t go online?
KRooKeD KRoW replied to Whlnmchl's topic in Red Dead Online
Rockstar Support Twitter posted about an hour ago "We are aware of an issue affecting Xbox One Ultimate Edition players not being able to access Red Dead Online. Please be patient as we investigate this issue." https://twitter.com/RockstarSupport/status/1067428861485420544 It seems there's a small number of PS4 players not able to connect either, but the Xbox issue seems to be affecting all players. I myself have been sitting here for two hours now, unable to connect, just looking for info on why it's not working, seeing streamers not connecting (have been trying to avoid people actually in the game, don't want any spoilers), people without the Ultimate Edition complaining they can't get on, etc. About to have to leave for work, hoping it'll be working when I get home. -
So it was said that it goes live for Ultimate Edition today at 830a EST (in about 5 minutes). I'd imagine it would open for other players on the other days also at 830a EST. Either way, I'm excited. It's almost 530a for me (PST) and I have about 2 hours to play before going to work 😃Even set an earlier alarm to get up right before it launched.

There was some article last week talking about achievements/trophies in online were progressing for some people to like 1% or 0.1%, dont remember exactly (a bug from making the achievements/trophies live, maybe), which some people were taking as people playing already (not saying it didn't happen, may have been some alpha testers playing online, stress testing the servers or something). But ya, the beta starts rolling out tomorrow, as people have said above.

I wouldn't exactly say I raced to the end, tho I did somewhat rush it. The story is a huge part of what I enjoy from the games I get, and I like seeing the complete picture first play through. I did all the side quests, tons of strangers missions and other little things along the way (only missed giving a harmonica to somebody), but I don't like spending too much time doing the "extra" things along the way, usually do that a second playthrough (though that's usually things like intel/dogtags or whatever that needs a second playthrough, most games I play can do the stuff at the end). It's kinda the same principle of watching a recorded show, I start it, but the more I pause it or take long breaks in between, the more I forget what happened before. A little easier remembering the whole story when I experience it with little to no interruptions.

Ya, just took another look at the compendium, looks like birds don't need to be tracked (kinda hard to track something in the air without modern RADAR), fish you don't need to scan or track, just catch and catch with specific bait. Probably all different depending on what category, don't feel like checking all the categories right now.

Would be interesting to see the beginnings of the Van Der Linde gang, play as Dutch this time, doing small jobs at first, getting more members, maybe it ends when he and the gang end up where the story is when you start RDR2. Kinda get a complete story.

What gaming console do you prefer to play: PS4 or XBOX 1
KRooKeD KRoW replied to cdmcalinden011's topic in Off-Topic
My friends and I called that controller the Batwing. My hands are by no means small, but that one was a little big for me, not bad tho. There's pros and cons to each console from each generation. I prefer xbox over all, plus the playstation controller has always been pretty shitty, imo. Played on the original playstation (mostly tekken 3), and they never improved the controller enough. After a few minutes playing a fighting game, thumbs would get sore from pressing the buttons. ps2 and ps3 still did that, and the ps4 controller doesnt look like they changed that. Originally got xbox for halo, have every one that came out since then, lately have been spending more time on PC gaming, but alas, did not have that option for RDR2 (probably just as bad as GTA was/is online with all the hackers on PC anyways) -
The percent is based on the 4 things. To get 100%, you just need to Scan, Track, Kill and Collect each animal at least once. I have some animals I've killed and collected like 50+ of them, but haven't tracked them (mostly birds), so I don't have 100% on them yet. Eventually will, but not a top priority for me.

I'd imagine that would be part of some content pack, with missions, clothing, and a new area releasing together. Doesn't really seem like something that would come out all on its own. But yea, be nice to catch a ferry from Saint Denis to some islands where you find some rare parrot (legendary birds might be a good one, especially if we can show them off in our homes), get rare herbs, in general, have some things on the island(s) that you can't find on the mainland. Sounds a lot like Farm Simulator (or what I imagine it's like, anyways, never played it and haven't looked into it much), tho wouldn't be a bad thing for this game. Or just a rancher dlc, period. Start with one cow tied to a tree outside your shack, slowly save up to build a large ranch with all sorts of livestock. Maybe even give us some options on which ranch to buy out of like 3-5, then let us choose where to place the buildings and whatnot on it. Maybe even have a daily competition. Bring your prized cow, pig, chicken, horse etc. to a county/state fair that's always there (maybe have one in each state, or it's in a different state each week or something), win some in-game cash if you win. Judging is done at certain time each day, so as long as you enter your animal before that time, you're competing. Would need some restrictions set on that, like if you win, can't win for another week, and whatever you enter into the competition is sold to keep the winner from just fattening the same pig or whatever. Not sure how judging at those fairs works, never been to one with competitions like that. Competitions probably wouldn't work out with the server structure, though... would probably need servers like MMOs have. Maybe just a competitive game mode like that, join a match, each player has 10 minutes to get the fattest pig or whatever animal is randomly chosen. Everyone starts with the exact same inventory and everything.

After spending the last few days doing little other than hunting, during which I discovered an empty house that looks brand new (could be an event area I missed when I rushed through the story, or could be one of the homes we can buy online), I began thinking it would be cool if we could decorate our properties with things like bear rugs, heads mounted on walls, maybe stuffed birds and critters sitting on shelves, all ones that we have hunted ourselves. Giving some sort of decorative customization of homes would be a great way to personalize them, and show off our exploits.

Can you replay all missions at any given time?
KRooKeD KRoW replied to WhoKnowsYouKnows's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
There is a mission select (in the story section of the pause menu, I think) that let's you go back and play missions again. It saves right before you load the mission, and "loads" that save after you finished it. I believe you still get credit if you get a higher rating on it, but anything else you gain from the mission is lost because it "loads" that pre-mission save when you finish. -
Can't pat the horse in the barn in Chapter 1 - The Colter
KRooKeD KRoW replied to Richard's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
Yup, terrain, maybe it's to close to a signpost or wall or something. Have had this several times. Either moving away and approaching again has fixed it, or moving away and calling my horse to follow did the trick. Never figured out what exactly it is but sometimes it's obvious why it does this (Like when standing on a hill, downhill from the horse can't reach up enough to feed it, brush it or whatever is one of those time I had it where it was obvious why, other times, nothing nearby and it does that.) I think there are times while it is whining about something or other, you just need to wait a moment for it to finish throwing it's tantrum before it let's you do anything. -
.....'a huntin' and 'a fishin'.....
KRooKeD KRoW replied to Firestormfan89's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
For fishing, you need to know what fish you're going after. They'll be either a lake or river fish, then they all usually prefer their own certain type of bait/lure. When selecting your bait, the tooltip tells you which fish it's best for. Of course, you could always fish using dynamite. Tried it once when I was looking over the challenges, was very satisfying to watch. Also looking for the little rings in the water helps. Usually groups of them means it's a good fishing spot. I think each one is a fish cuz I've seen em move towards my line and feel the nibble just as it reaches the bait/lure. The legendary fish can be quite a fight. Only reel in when they're not fighting you. When they are fighting, pull to the side so it doesn't reel out. When you do reel in, pull back and release the thumbstick to pull back and drop the pole, helps to reel in a bit faster. -
How to disable the free access to additional weapons
KRooKeD KRoW replied to Alakar's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
Holding down on the D-Pad while in-game gives 4 options for the mini-map. Default mini-map, expanded (just a bigger version), no mini-map (just shows the health/stam/deadeye markers), and radar/compass only (don't remember if it's a radar or just compass). There's several other options in the game's settings that can make it more difficult, like turning off the wanted pop-up, removing the data that pops up when you loot something, etc. -
Horse Controls, Tips, and Tricks
KRooKeD KRoW replied to BoomBazookaJD's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
It's not a button or combo you press, it's an option you toggle in the game's settings menus when you pause. I'm not back home for about another hour so I don't remember exactly which settings it's under, but I'll edit this post after I get home and double check. It just changes how the horse is controlled. Default has horse control's linked to your camera, so if you turn the camera left, you have to adjust your horses movement by pulling right so it goes in the same direction it was facing. The other option let's you change it so that no matter which way your camera is looking, pushing forward has the horse going forward, left goes left, right goes right. Edit: Just got home and checked. The option is in the Pause menu>Settings>Controls. It's under the "Third Person" section and it's the "Horse Control (Third Person) option. The options are "Camera Relative" (the default) and "Horse Relative". I guess since it's under the Third-Person section, it only applies to third-person. Guessing first-person has it horse relative. Don't care much for first-person in these kinds of games so I only checked it out once, briefly. -
Horse Controls, Tips, and Tricks
KRooKeD KRoW replied to BoomBazookaJD's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
I finally spent some time the other day looking through all the settings in game and found one that (for me anyways) made controlling the horse easier. I forget if it's in the controls menu or camera menu, but theres an option that let's you choose between controlling the horse from your camera's POV and controlling from the horses POV. I switched to the horse POV because you don't have to worry about changing which direction you push the thumbstick when moving your camera around. (I.E. with the horse's POV, when looking around for animal tracks or whatever, I just keep pushing forward if I want my horse to keep moving forward, rather than having to move the stick around to counter the camera) Took a little bit to get used to since I did the Camera POV for a couple weeks, but I like it more. It may not be for everybody though. -
I don't remember where or how long ago I read about it (couldn't be more than a couple months ago), but IIRC, R* is only calling it a Beta because of how things went when they launched GTA Online, sooo many bugs, so it should essentially be LIVE but since they expect problems again, they're calling it Beta so people don't complain about them launching a product that doesn't even work properly. I don't remember if they touched base on whether or not things will be reset once it's out of the Beta, but I'd imagine not, since once GTA Online was working properly, I still had all the cash I had robbed from people (The required intro race quest was bugged, so couldn't even start it, but still had freeroam somewhat so just kept mugging everyone til I got bored with it).

Cool, didn't see that one. Been looking for news via google every day for weeks now about RDO. Guess I must've missed the one about the properties, or something. Doesn't look like much info on the properties, but at least they're there. Sounds like we might have options ranging from something like a shack in the swamp to owning our own ranch or plantation. These are just guesses of mine based on what's in that leaked list (mostly the only one that has a description, property 6, rugged homliness in countryside which sounds nice), maybe not something as big as a ranch or plantation, but definitely options similar to GTA's range of properties, like a penthouse apartment in Saint Denis. I would love that as well. Reminds me of a scene from Hell on Wheels where there's a huge bar brawl, and when the marshall comes in, nobody even remembers what they're fighting about. Maybe turn that into a Battle Royale mode. Last Drunk Standing, or something like that.

Did not know greeting people did that. Played the whole story being evil, now I'm trying to get good so I can buy all the outfits and it's not easy. As one of the train ticket booth guys once said.. "Oooohh, you've been a bad boy!" This should make it a hell of a lot easier, even if it does take a long time.

There's not much we know for certain. R* is keeping things secret, though there have been some leaks, mostly data mining. We know we'll be able to own a variety of wagons (can't wait to get a war wagon, tho it'll probaly be like buying the mobile command center in GTA:O and take a while to save up for) and we know theres a battle royale mode, but no info on how many players. There was something about horse racing, and based on the special/ultimate edition bonuses, we get a camp (i'm guessing it's like the one from story where we throw down anywhere in the wilderness to sleep and craft.) I had to do a bounty this morning in the mine I mentioned was one of my favorite missions from the first RDR... It was Gaptooth Ridge. Just hoping some of the fan favorite missions from the first one make their way into this one (not all, and we definitely need a lot of new ones). Also, hoping there's plenty built around Fort Mercer and the fort in Ambarino... attacking forts is always fun. And owning property like in GTA would be nice, even if it's just buying one of the gang hideouts from story mode (dutch's hideout or any of the gang hideouts from like Lemoyne Raiders and whatnot)

Yeah, i was stuck on the tomahawk for a bit til i realized there was the improved version. the long shot i did in Saint Denis. just pick a spot where you can see a long way down the street and start sniping til u get it. Going to the challenge tells you how far your longest shot was, so just keep backing up, taking longer shots til you get it. The birds on the train, I hijacked the train cuz the conductor ran off as soon as I started shooting the birds, and got it up to speed. I had to get it up to speed a couple times to get the challenge done, but doable. Not sure what the case was with my bounty after that.

IKR, the worst is going from xbox to nintendo switch. its all the same buttons but the switch has them in different locations so it's all confusing. we've already standardized micro and regular USB (with the exception being Apple), why not basic controller layouts. Back on topic... Think I remember the painting targets for Dead Eye being automatic up to a certain point in the game when manual painting is unlocked. You move the reticle around on the person to paint them multiple times. Glad it changes to manual later, cuz it'd be hard (likely impossible since it paints right where the reticle first lands) to get 3 hats in one Dead Eye with it being automatic
