What is RE2?

You want RDR2 to have problems?

The PS4 Pro does NOT have the same resolution as XBOX ONE X. The X is capable of true native 4K. PS4 Pro can NOT deliver that.

RDR2 on Ps4 Pro is blurry because of the checkerboard rendering. The TOPIC OF THIS ENTIRE DISCUSSION!

Resident Evil 2 remake, was said here as having the same problems as RDR2. I forgot to quote what the person said.

It would be nice if RDR2 had the same problems as RE2

I was still talking about RE2, which despite having the same resolution as the xbox x version, apparently uses the same Quantum Break technique, while the xbox x version does not use

I know the problem is because of the checkerboard rendering, bad choice in resolution, very aggressive TAA and so on. I never wanted the pro version to be identical to the xbox x version, even because xbox x can do more, but the rockstar could do much better than it did.

Sorry if you did not understand what I said, I use google translate

The demo of resident evil 2 looks not like a 4k resolution game, but the quality is not switching from time to time. But this is not a game for me. This is so terrifying.  Not a game for someone with ptsd.

For me this is the biggest problem to play rdr2. The switching resolution quality on the pro.

Anyone knows something of an upcoming dlc?

And that's what i call the KARMA ! Ahaha

I may seem like an idiot right now, but what is your point? I am asking this sincerely with no intentions to provoke or anything like that, I just want to know what I am supposed to notice in that video!? I own it on ps4-pro and it is an awesome horror game but not close to rdr2 when it comes to pure enjoyment in my opinion.

Ît looks like that the x version looks more soft as the pro version, both versions uses a checkerboard resolution. I watched the digital foundry analyze video. X has better reflections and slightly improved shadows. Colours looking dull for me in all versions. Artists choice?

For me rdr2 or rockstar do something in the background. Somedays the graphic of rdr2 looks fine and when I start the game again all looks blurry like hell. I´m done with the game and I hope they fix it in an add on. I saw that Mexico is integrated in the game.

I think the game is boring without main and sidequests. It is no fun to complete the cardsets or anything else.

It is only my own opinion.

I made a clean installation, Patch 1.06 on my PS4 Pro, and i dont see blurry anymore.

I think the game was finally fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do you think about it?

Posted (edited)

Theres a list of the patch notes on IGN.com,i dont know how reliable the site is but one thing stands out

" Fixed issues with full-screen effects and particle effects that resulted in them displaying incorrectly at resolutions higher than 1080p "

I dont know if it fixed the issue,me personally i could never notice the blurry graphics issue on my pro but like i originally said my eyesight isnt great anyway. 😄I`m not dissing anybody but if they were there on my machine they never gave me headaches, bad eyes or made me turn the game off like some people have claimed.Im still running the game with only the day one patch at the moment.Link to webite below

Well, I tested the game in every game mode I could. My tv is full hd, so I tested it with supersampling turned on and off too. It continues exactly as it was before! The game is more blurry with the supersampling on. All problems with the blur are still present. Duplicate things when you move the camera quickly, the aurea around the character, and all around completely blurry.

I also tested the online mode, and also did not see any changes. If they fixed something in relation to the image, only analyzing too deeply to see.

Xbox one X ,

70" Vizio p series 4k no hdr

native 4k no blur

The problem is on ps4 pro version.

Posted (edited)

I read several of the posts and a few people mentioned it had happened on an xbox one x also and maybe had to do with hdr, so I wanted to contribute, no HDR for me and no issue either, although most one X's dont have issues, they can, and if they run hot they will.

I keep a fan on mine and two glass candle holders under it so air gets around the entire console.

Once it locked up hard while many things were happening and fire was on screen, it can get intense and that was before I put a fan on the console.

Anyway just want to contribute any info that might help.

Yes, the problem with HDR is in all versions and probably will never be solved, but the problem of the blurred image only exists in the version of ps4 pro, and turning off the HDR does not solve the problem. The game has been released a long time ago and I think they will never fix the ps4 pro version

Did you try to do a clean installation and then install the patch 1.06?

Another thing, my TV is 4K, and my PS4 output is 2160p RGB.  I know HDR is broken and is off.

So still no change, wow unbelievable that Rockstar still didn't address these issues!

How can they spend time fixing issues when there is so much stellar content to deliver? At least you are on long enough to notice they didn't fix it? Many of us still keep getting server drops.

I'm not sure if this has been answered yet because I'm not going to the 47 pages I love this post but Rockstar has degraded the graphics of a story mode to match the graphics of online so everything runs smoother. Although they don't mention this in their update details, if you do a little digging around and searching you will find that they have in fact degraded and turned off some features for example one of the features that I can think of off the top of my head that they turned off is one of the shadowing and light rendering mechanics. So it may not be your PlayStation or your TV at all, it may just be because you're just now noticing the degradation, our eyes play funny tricks on us.

For the ps4 pro this game should be called brdr2 - blurry red dead redemption 2. After few hours I gave up. It looks terrible and nothing can change it. For me this game is unplayable with ps4 pro (samsung ks7000). I just wasted 70 $. It was definitely my last game from the rocstars...

Update!

Ok, finally I found the solution for my set (ps4 pro +Samsung KS7000 tv). All I had do was switching off HDR and setting TV "Auto Motion Plus" = custom, blur  reduction = max, judder reduction =9 or max.

Now the game looks far far better. I can even say looks amazing 😉

Unbelieveable that they keep ignoring it, how hard can it be to fix the checkerboard rendering. It’s mostly that that is causing the mess.

They must have recieved a dozen tickets by now from users.

Was thinking the other day that the supersampling mode on the PS4 Pro might be a "Virtual Super Resolution" than a actual Anti-aliasing.

Meaning it just shrinks the higher resolutions to fit a screen that doesn't support higher resolutions.

Haven't tested this yet. But, maybe using 1080p and having supersampling mode turned on while playing on a 4k display will sharpen everything out and remove that blur and ghosting effects.

Sure, the display is gonna say its 1080p but it'll make it look somewhat closer to what 4k detail should look like. If my theory is right which could very well be wrong.

It'll still have that broad 4k spacing since it's virtually shrinking a 4k image to fit within 1080p plus the display doing whatever kind of up-scaling in process on top of that.

Edit: Just tested it. Forgot that supersampling mode isn't available while being set on 1080p on a 4K display.

I am afraid to say, but I given up on the ps4 pro version for good! I think I will look for a cheap xbox one x somewhere and sell my rdr2 ultimate edition for the ps4 and get it for the XBX because that version doesn't seem to be effected at all!

Rockstar lied, Sony lied and they are making it worse and worse with each patch, so as far as I am concerned the biggest sell out and overhyped badly programmed product of Rockstar to date is RDR2 and very badly supported as well!

The real difference between the PS4 Pro and a XBX is that the XBX can really do 4K (as intended or not) and not some lame ass up scale checkboard lie technique, that makes things even worse and screws good paying customers out of having the rightful experience they deserve! I know there are some games that look stunning (while using this technique), but eventually with a game like RDR2 it starts to catch up with them! You know.........you can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all the people all the time! And I think this saying (which I heard a long time ago) applies 100% to Sony/Rockstar!

I know the XBX is newer and therefore better in terms of raw power, BUT Sony should have went along hardware wise, but they didn't. And you know why? Because they smartly thought, the stupid good willing gullible customers keep buying the PS4 pro anyway, so who needs to invest in better hardware (that can match with Xbox new project)! And now at the end of the circle of both consoles it bites them in the ass, but you think Sony or Rockstar care?

They had there money and there sales (millions and millions) and they used a lie to cover up another lie (fake 4K) and bad HDR and amateur programming and bad arrogant decisions! Then technical support keeps a lid on any faults and acts like nothing is wrong and in the mean time all reviewers get payed to say the game is the game of the year! It is well worth there trouble because they gotten exactly what they wanted, which is mega sales and great reviews and in the mean time customers who pay attention and complain are left in the dark and won't get a response or some vague stupid solutions that only involves your own TV settings!

The damage has been done and there is no turning back the clock or numbers, so doing a boycott on the console or game has been much to late in order to have any 1% impact! Reviewers didn't pay attention or didn't really care or got payed themselves to make this screwed up worse product in the history of Rockstar a gods wonder! To bad there are so many Sony fanboys out there, which are so freaking blind of the truth they will stand in line for hours to buy a new PS5 for sure in the future! I remember reading forums where PS4 users laughed at Xbox one X users, for them thinking they will get true 4K textures! Many said Sony has a partnership with Rockstar so that is the leading console to go for and I believed that myself up to the point I read about all the technical troubles! Rockstar messed up, Sony messed up and they even did a worse job of supporting this terrible mess of programming!

Well I can truly say now that I reached my boiling point and I am so happy RDR2 didn't win the GOTY award and God of War did. I haven't played GOW, but it can't be such a customer screwjob as RDR2 did!  Despite some good things RDR2 has, they didn't deserve GOTY at all, especially after what they did with the PS4 pro version! A partnership of Sony/Rockstar my ass and I am generally positive about Sony, but they really disappointed so many people and that is in my view more important then those gullible people that buy and play Sony games like slaves because they are such huge fan of the company!

A fix will eventually come for Sony in the form of the PS5, but that is only due until somewhere in 2021 and a new Xbox will probably come in 2020, so I am not going to wait for some money luring excuse console, with a very needed remastered solution and commitment on having to buy a much too expensive new console! I want worth for my money now, not in the future! There is a saying that goes, if you want to have a better future, then start today/now!

Screw Sony and Rockstar and there superior art of conning and deceiving! I want a good RDR2 experience and if I have to go to the competition to do so, I will! Rockstar will still get sale then, but not for the full amount. On a second hand site in my country everybody sells the game and can't get rid of it because nobody wants it! Many gamers feel the speed of the game is to slow and I don't agree on that, I like my games slower! Despite that, on the note of everything I said above about the game, I know the game is the most over-hyped game of all times and not as great as many think it is! Online is very bad and will need to do so much to get over it's bad reputation, that I think it will never reach the success that GTA online got!

The so called support guy of Rockstar here on this forum has been silent for so long now and has long given up for a long time (if he indeed was from Rockstar)! But then again, how can one person make up for a mess the company made in terms of bad decisions and program work!

And I know there are one or two people here on this forum, who read this and laugh and find it so funny we are getting so upset and angry about how we have been lurded into buying this abomination of a game which truly is the "BAD BUY" of the year! I read some guy here many pages back, saying he finds it so funny we are beating a dead horse! I would like to beat him to death with an PS4 Pro myself!🤬🤬🤬

No major AAA game release is ever without a few hitches along the way and Red Dead Redemption 2 was no exception. Launching to near-universal praise back in October 2018, one of the main criticisms that arose was the broken HDR feature. Now, seven months after launch, Rockstar has fixed this issue.

When the game first launched, players noted the HDR issue immediately and took to the internet in search of a solution. While such errors are more common on PC due to variable hardware, they're also easier to fix given one's greater access to the files. Often modders and enthusiasts create workarounds before the developers get around to fixing these problems.

On consoles however, it's a bit more difficult.

releaseupdate9-800x450.jpg

The HDR implementation the game shipped with was broken and messed with its colors and brightness on most displays, impacting the visual experience of playing Red Dead Redemption 2. The issue created quite a storm among fans, but even so it took until now for an official fix to be posted.

The major title update released on Tuesday, which mainly focused on bringing Red Dead Online out of beta, has also fixed this HDR bug. Players can choose between two HDR modes, Cinematic - which is basically the same mode we've had by default since launch - and Game HDR, a new setting. Peak brightness values can also be adjusted to better fit your display.

releaseupdate6-800x450.jpg

With HDR fixed, the game's visuals will be of a much higher quality on all affected displays. Those of you who encountered this issue but finished the game since (and may have moved on) should definitely fire RDR2 up again to see the new changes.

The update contained a number of other general bugfixes that seek to make the game more stable.

The post Red Dead Redemption 2 Title Update Fixes HDR Bug appeared first on RDR2.org.

The new update for HDR doesn't really work, it is sort of a workaround for some issues but not all! Still not truely fixed, even though Rockstar acts like it is and many of the sites! Here you can read all about it: the-red-dead-redemption-2-hdr-fix-is-here-but-it-doesnt-really-work

It still seems to look blurry and a mess! So don't get fails hopes with the latest PS4 Pro patch!

Now on the Xbox One X version, it seems to improve quiet a lot with the new HDR implimentation, but that is because of True 4K! But this topic isn't about the Xbox version, but all I am saying is this is truly a Sony curse!👎

Try to make true HDR Sony, Just try!

You've already provided that link Mortimer.  Please don't continue to keep making the same point just to talk over others.

.....and btw, this "site" doesn't take a stand either way on the subject.
