Restarting challenge progress?

It seems that hitting reset on a completed challenge gives you some gold ...

Does anyone know if it takes away the earned buckle (not that it really matters, but still)?

No you keep the buckle, seems to be no real negative for it.

Are you online now Poggy? I think the updates might have already been applied, I just got $20 for a story mission. Not sure though as I did take down most enemies myself, might have been boosted from that.

Buckle stays, cant be earned again, tho no point if you have it. You just get gold nuggets after resetting the award progress. Wondering if theres a limit to how many times it can be reset, guess only time will tell.

All you really lose is the progress since you're resetting it, but it put like a 1 or something next to it when I did, so guess it keeps track of how many times you reset it.

Rumor has it gold payout increases when you get to a higher reset count, I can't confirm it yet, got to the 3rd reset now and still getting 0.05... if anyone got it higher and knows about it, feel free to say something ahahaha.

Sounds like that should be the case, maybe it only increases the payout after resetting x amount of times.  Could also be something that's not working properly yet, still tons of things that needs to be fixed

I've made it to IV WITH one of the buckles by resetting does anybody got higher?

I think the Feb update increased the gold payout to 0.2 - that's what I've always been getting and maybe what led people to thinking the payout was increasing on subsequent resets. I thought 10 was the reset limit as that's what I hit on one of the awards but then last night selling products to the butcher wouldn't reset after a third count. The reset button is highlighted and it makes the reset noise but the award doesn't actually reset. Can anyone confirm if this is bugged or the limit for that award is actually 3?

.....and just to add (as I know this is an old thread), but it's more than just gold you get.  IIRC, you also get 500 XP each time.

0.2 gold + 500 XP per reset... you can reset up to a maximum of 10 times (wish it was unlimited)... some cannot be reset and will not present the option... currently have 4 maxed out

You get the XP for the reset? I thought you just got 500XP for completing the challenge?

Seems my selling products to the butcher award is bugged in not resetting for a fourth time as I know others have gone past 3. Not sure what joy I’ll get out of R* but will make a report of it.

You get xp for every level a total of 1000xp/ round. No xp for the reset itself only 0.2 Gold. Same thing with all other rounds up til 10 resets

 

Example

5 of 100 Killed- 50xp

25 of 100 killed - 100xp

50 of 100 Killed- 150xp

75 of 100 Killed- 200xp

100 of 100 Killed- 500xp

Are people abusing this feature? It seems like you can get a literal goldmine restarting every single time, even if it is only one gold bar each time.

Abusing it how?  The game allows the resets.  I do it every time I reach the limit as the game notifies me.

That's what I thought, thanks for clarifying.

 

VampireKrush - it's only 0.2 gold each reset (about what, $5? value). No gold mine. The value in doing it is really the XP. Some of the awards are so easily done (within the natural course of playing the game) it'd be a shame to only be able to do them once. Others I'm not sure I'll achieve once, let alone 10 times. Great thing is that however you choose to play the game there are awards which will suit your style.

The biggest benefit is definitely gaining the experience points again. And a lot of them just happen as you play. I always check at the beginning of my session to see if there are any that need resetting that I may have missed

I reset all that can be reset instantly. You still keep the buckle.

It greatly increases Your XP gain and gives some gold. 

There are some of them You can make in one hunting run - like killing fish with dynamite. It can be done in a minute, then reset, buy dynamite while selling meat and pelts, repeat.  

Combined with other achievements is a huge boost to XP gain in free roam untill You max em out to lvl 10 i think.

That's the one I'm currently working on. Everytime I pass by a body of water and see a lot of bubbles, I'll start flinging the dynamite. I've reset that challenge 7 times so far. I've maxed out many of the awards already, like harvesting animal parts and selling them to the butcher as well as selling herbs to the doctor.
